UU Relay for LIfe begins Friday, April 16.
Urbana University’s Colleges Against Cancer will host the 6th annual Relay for Life beginning Friday, April 16, at 2 p.m. through 8 a.m. Saturday April 17.
The public is invited to attend the event, which raised $11,600 in 2009 for the American Cancer Society. The 18-hour event will include activities for all ages as well as the annual Survivor Lap and Reception at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Luminarias, lining the relay track, will be lighted at 8:30 p.m. and remain lit throughout the night as a reminder that the battle against cancer has not yet been won.
Luminaria may be purchased in the name of a family member or friend who has waged the battle with cancer, whether they survived or lost the fight. Each Luminaria is a minimum $10 donation and may be purchased all day Friday, or ordered at the website.
The public is also invited to join Urbana University President Stephen Jones on an 8-mile fundraising bike ride during the event. For more information about the Relay Bike Ride call (937) 484-1300 or email sjones@urbana.edu .
