OSU College of Nursing receives funding for graduate degree program

The Ohio State University College of Nursing has received $131,000 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Education’s Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) program, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s office announced Monday, April 19.

The GAANN program provides fellowships through academic departments and college programs to assist outstanding graduate students in need of financial assistance pursue the highest degree available in their course of study at the institution in fields designated as an area of national need.

The OSU funding is to help increase the number of Ph.D. students at the College of Nursing.

“Investing in students” education today will provide our nation with the skilled workforce needed for the 21st century economy,” Brown, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) committee said in the news release. “These funds will provide exemplary graduate students with the opportunity to pursue their careers while fulfilling a national need.”
