Fairfield football prepping for GMC play
Fairfield High’s football team is trying to put last week’s 36-0 loss to Winton Woods behind it and look ahead to Greater Miami Conference play.
“We’re OK,” first-year Fairfield coach Aaron Fitzstephens said. “We’re moving forward. We were playing a really good football team. They could win state in Division II. It was 9-0 at halftime, and then the wheels kind of fell off.”
The Indians (1-2) travel to Princeton (2-1) this Friday night, Sept. 18.
“It’s exciting,” Fitzstephens said. “We’re excited to get into the league and see what we can do in our league.”
The Vikings boast one of the most versatile players around in senior QB and LSU recruit Spencer Ware, who rushed for 155 yards and four TDs in last week’s victory over Glen Este.
“He’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen,” Fitzstephens said. “He can do it all.”
