A feel-good contrast
Interesting story moved Thursday (Oct. 6) on NBC’s Three Wishes. The Associated Press story covered the basics: Amy Grant’s a “warm, reassuring facilitator,” the show expands on the premise of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and has a feel-good vibe.
Most interesting though is writer Frazier Moore’s point that Three Wishes provides a strong antidote to the dark side that reigns on much of the prime-time schedule this year (think Invasion, Criminal Minds and Bones).
Isn’t there a place for shows that affirm the human spirit, where people help one another? That’s the point of Three Wishes, and Grant is a perfect host. Unfortunately, its Friday time slot may doom it.
Tonight’s show (Oct. 7) offers a two-hour tear-jerking extravaganza that includes helping a family made homeless by Hurricane Katrina. Sample it while you can; the series may not last long.
