Why is Santino still on the Show? ‘Project Runway’
With this week’s episode of ‘Project Runway’ (Feb. 8) we are down to just 4 designers. And one of them is Santino How is this possible? His jumpsuit, pantsuit whatever, ‘Alien’ the Movie custume was just dreadful not to mention the fact that it wasn’t finished and with just one wrong move, it would have fallen apart!
For this week’s challenge, the designers designed makeovers for their fellow designers. This was really a challenge for many of the designers as they most of the designers are men and they usually design for women.
Chole pulled out a win with pretty basic design that was well executed and unfortunately the fabulously outgoing and effervescent Nick lost… the show will lack his wit and humor. He was the giddy school girl of the bunch.
Since Santino is still in the game, I’m guessing he might be in the final three and still pullout a win…. ICK!

Santino is still on the show because he creates controversy. His designs are way out there and that’s what the producers want. And the final three get to create an entire line, so what kind of line would he create, wild and crazy. But I agree that Santino should have been gone long ago. I was sad to see Nick leave. But he’s been left on stage the last 3 times. One would have thought, I’m getting closer and closer to getting the ‘auf wiedersehen’ yet I keep doing stupid things. HELLO!!! Anyway, one of the girls gets the boot next week.

I was surprised at Daniel’s rather nonchalant response after Heidi told him with out immunity he would have recieved her Auf Wiedersehen. I thought his design for Chole made her look like a high priced Mayfair Call Girl.. and poor Kara in that post nuclear mad max looking cat suit? Although I must admit the gender bending suit worn by Daniel was by far the WORST item I have seen yet.. I just purchased the DVD SET of SEASON ONE, maybe becuase it was new, the people seemed more colorful…

James — you hit the nail on the head. I was looking through the actual scores on the “Project Runway” website yesterday, and Santino has consistently scored at the bottom for the last several challenges — yet he’s still around, all because the producers think that his personality is good for ratings. Frankly, I think his personality does spice things up, but the reason I like this show is because it’s about talent — and I think his has run out. That jumpsuit was an abomination; at least Nick’s design for Daniel wasn’t falling apart and it had way more style. I think Santino should have heard “Auf Wiedersehen” a long time ago.

Craig, I’m with you — Santino should have been gone long ago. However, I noticed after this week’s show that the judges make their decisions with some input from the producers. You always have to have someone to stir the pot, and this season, Santino is it. So they want to keep him around.
