American Idol’s pretty girls get their first shot.

Before I get started, if you’re like me and can’t quite put all the names with the top 24 faces yet, I would suggest that you refer to the American Idol website so you can quickly remind yourself of who is who. Of course I remember my favorites, but there are still those that remain a little forgettable. But they are all so gorgeous; each in their own way.

I think the theme for the evening was nerves. Most of these girls have sung a cappella at one point or other in the competition and done it well, yet almost everyone suffered from “pitchiness or hit a horrific note or two. However, I applaud every one of them for having the guts to get on that stage in front of a live audience and millions of viewers all over the world.

That said if you are going to be an American Idol, you better get over that quick.

My absolute favorites of the evening (in no particular order) were the adorable Paris Bennett, audacious Brenna Gethers, the youngest Lisa Tucker, and my most favorite Katharine McPhee. This assessment is based on their voices and performances. Of course, who cannot just love Kelly Pickler based on being an overall sweetie pie? But she just didn’t bring it last night.

The two that I just want to see gone Thursday are Stevie Scott and Ayla Brown. It’s not that they don’t have potentially good voices; it’s something in their personalities that just drive me nuts. Maybe it’s Stevie’s “I’m a classically trained opera singer attitude or Ayla’s post performance “I just felt complete statement. Since retro is in, I’ll throw myself back to my college days “Gag me with a spoon might be an appropriate statement.

I wasn’t a big fan of Becky ODonahue’s version of Because the Night. Tough song to sing and she over performs the “sexy. Your gorgeous honey, you don’t have to work it that hard!

Speaking of gorgeous. There are some spectacularly pretty girls this year. Really captivating. Oh I can’t wait until the guys are on tonight.

Okay Heather. I’ll admit that Ayla isn’t that bad, her attitude just bugged me. I’ll give her a more objective listen next week.

Katherine McPhee is also my favorite! I think she’s gorgeous and she has a fabulous voice. I also think she’s just cute as pie - her comments after her song when she was talking with Ryan were just too cute :) I do love Kelly Pickler, but she really didn’t perform that well…

I was so excited to see the show last night. Although I missed the first two, I saw the rest and definitely picked my favorites. I agree with a lot of your choices, but there are a couple that I just had to say - WHAT??!! First of all - Brenna - she’s got to go. Don’t like the attitude and I don’t think she’s even close to being one of the best singers in the competition! You want to see Ayla gone - but, I really liked her! I know for you it was the comments afterwards -but, she’s got a great look and a great voice to go along with it. So, here are my picks after last night: Must stay: Lisa Tucker (what a doll!), Katharine McPhee and Ayla Brown. Please go: Brenna Gethers, Becky O’Donahue and Stevie Scott
