‘Amazing Race’ at starting line
One round of reality shows is wrapping up while the next are on the launchpad.
One of the best, The Amazing Race takes off on its ninth cycle with a two-hour premiere at 9 tonight (Feb. 28, 2006).
After the fall’s tame family edition, I’m more than ready for the two-member teams — each with a ‘pre-existing relationship, as CBS says in what sounds like a reference to a dread disease — taking shots at each other and their opponents. CBS promos promise this go-round is back to basics, spanning five continents, non-stop action and tougher tasks.
Study up on the teams and comment on who you think will win. Seems to me BJ and Tyler are either going to be a lot of fun pretending to be modern-day Cheech and Chong or we’ll pay to have them eliminated. I do think they’ll play smarter than their profile would indicate.
Tonight’s big question, however, is how badly the second hour of American Idol will clobber the first hour of Race.
