‘Dance’ shocker with Allison going home!?!

I know this is where things get really tough, someone good has to go every week but I just knew it was going to be Natalie, never imagined Allison would be the one to leave. Could it be that Mary Murphy jinxed her by calling her the favorite to win the whole thing a couple of times? Could it be that although sweet, she just didn’t have the personality to win the hearts of the voting public? I tend to lean in that direction myself.

Ryan leaving, no surprise at all to me. Travis being in the bottom two, now that was a surprise. I think Ivan was just as surprised.

And did anyone see the heartbroken Travis out on the stage pining for Allison while she included him in her one last solo? Then after she was through and they all started dancing, she raced right over there. A couple maybe? Hmmmmmm. And what about poor Ivan, he looked a little brokenhearted when Allison was all over Travis that way, don’t you think?

Okay folks, who are going to be the final two and who is going to win the whole thing? Predictions? I’m going to say I hope it’s Benji and Donyelle in the final with either of them winning but I wouldn’t be brokenhearted if Travis won either.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed bloggin’ with ya’ll this season 2 of Dance but this will be my last post of the season. I’ll be on medical leave for a while but watching faithfully!

And the recap for Wednesday night,

Donyelle and Travis do a Shane Sparks hip-hop routine.

London Bridge by Fergie

I usually love Shane’s choreography. This dance just kind of spooked me out. The masks kind of reminded me of crash test dummies and I completely agree with the judges that obscuring the faces hurt the overall “performance.

Allison and Ivan back together again for the Argentine Tango.

La Cumparsita from “Last Tango in Buenos Aires” by Orquestra Escuela de Tango

Alex de Silva once again does a steamy Latin dance for these two. The dance was great but didn’t quite come up to the level of the first one for me. Maybe the first time it was so great because it was completely unexpected. It was good, just not great. No, that’s not true, it was great, just not WoW.

Natalie and Ryan disco with Doriana Sanchez

Turn the Beat Around by Vicki sue Robinson

I did not see what was so awful about this routine. I quiet enjoyed it. I have to agree there wasn’t much chemistry between the two, but still I liked it even if the judges didn’t.

Heidi and Benji get a Broadway routine

Fake Your Way to the Top by Dreamgirls (the original cast)

Again, Tyce Diorio is one of my favorite choreographers. And this style seems suited for the cousins because if it got too steamy/romantic it would just be gross. The judges absolutely love it. They even get one of Mary’s trademark screams.

Donyelle and Travis get the quick step

Dancin’ Fool by Barry Manilow

Mary starts her critique with what amounts to “No offense but…” that should give you an idea of how badly the quick step was looked upon. I don’t get the subtleties, but it wasn’t the greatest. Poor Travis.

Allison and Ivan draw hip-hop for their second routine.

Sexy Love by Ne-Yo

This was a nice departure from the hard hitting hip-hop we usually see. Allison and Ivan are together on this one with simple yet perfectly executed moves. All of the judges love it. Natalie and Ryan pull contemporary

I Will Get There by Boyz II Men

This was very pretty but unemotional for me. I have grown to like these contemporary pajama party routines, but this was kind of flat.

Benji and Heidi get the club mambo

Black Mambo by Angel and the Mambokats

Alex de Silva can whip up some amazing but difficult dance routines and these two just nailed it again. Nigel is nearly out of breath with compliments, going so far as to say they are the reason So You Think You Can Dance is the number one summer show. Dan Karaty says it was easily the most professional routine on the show this year.

I feel so sad for Ivan. I felt he liked her and every time he wanted to go hug her and comfort her Travis was there.I thought Travis was gay from rumors but apparently not. Not unless there good good friends. Poor Ivan ….he’ll get a girl.

Ok, so if I listened to Cat, I wouldn’t be complaining because I didn’t vote. HOWEVER, I was soooo ticked last night that Allison was voted off. I think Dan was the one that stated she is by far the most versatile dancer on the show and I couldn’t agree more. And I have to disagree with you Kelle about her personality. I think she is adorable and has the personality to go with it. She’s always bubbly and happy and can turn it on when she needs to. I just don’t understand it! I wasn’t surprised about Ryan leaving either - he’s good at his own style, but he just doesn’t have it to cross all of the different genre’s. I’m at a loss for my predictions of the final 2 because I thought Allison was going to take it.

At this point, I would be happy with ANY of them winning. I think it’s a great final 6, and all are very talented and likeable. My personal favorite is Ivan, because of how far he has come. But I really could handle any of them winning. I was sorry to see Allison go, but there wasn’t a good female to go, they are all wonderful. I totally agreed with Ryan going. And I have to admit I cried seeing the interaction between Allison and Travis, as well as Natalie’s show of emotion. It’s nice to see so many young people who are respectful, happy and proud of each other.
