‘Dance’ shocker with Allison going home!?!
I know this is where things get really tough, someone good has to go every week but I just knew it was going to be Natalie, never imagined Allison would be the one to leave. Could it be that Mary Murphy jinxed her by calling her the favorite to win the whole thing a couple of times? Could it be that although sweet, she just didn’t have the personality to win the hearts of the voting public? I tend to lean in that direction myself.
Ryan leaving, no surprise at all to me. Travis being in the bottom two, now that was a surprise. I think Ivan was just as surprised.
And did anyone see the heartbroken Travis out on the stage pining for Allison while she included him in her one last solo? Then after she was through and they all started dancing, she raced right over there. A couple maybe? Hmmmmmm. And what about poor Ivan, he looked a little brokenhearted when Allison was all over Travis that way, don’t you think?
Okay folks, who are going to be the final two and who is going to win the whole thing? Predictions? I’m going to say I hope it’s Benji and Donyelle in the final with either of them winning but I wouldn’t be brokenhearted if Travis won either.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed bloggin’ with ya’ll this season 2 of Dance but this will be my last post of the season. I’ll be on medical leave for a while but watching faithfully!
And the recap for Wednesday night,
Donyelle and Travis do a Shane Sparks hip-hop routine.
London Bridge by Fergie
I usually love Shane’s choreography. This dance just kind of spooked me out. The masks kind of reminded me of crash test dummies and I completely agree with the judges that obscuring the faces hurt the overall “performance.
Allison and Ivan back together again for the Argentine Tango.
La Cumparsita from “Last Tango in Buenos Aires” by Orquestra Escuela de Tango
Alex de Silva once again does a steamy Latin dance for these two. The dance was great but didn’t quite come up to the level of the first one for me. Maybe the first time it was so great because it was completely unexpected. It was good, just not great. No, that’s not true, it was great, just not WoW.
Natalie and Ryan disco with Doriana Sanchez
Turn the Beat Around by Vicki sue Robinson
I did not see what was so awful about this routine. I quiet enjoyed it. I have to agree there wasn’t much chemistry between the two, but still I liked it even if the judges didn’t.
Heidi and Benji get a Broadway routine
Fake Your Way to the Top by Dreamgirls (the original cast)
Again, Tyce Diorio is one of my favorite choreographers. And this style seems suited for the cousins because if it got too steamy/romantic it would just be gross. The judges absolutely love it. They even get one of Mary’s trademark screams.
Donyelle and Travis get the quick step
Dancin’ Fool by Barry Manilow
Mary starts her critique with what amounts to “No offense but…” that should give you an idea of how badly the quick step was looked upon. I don’t get the subtleties, but it wasn’t the greatest. Poor Travis.
Allison and Ivan draw hip-hop for their second routine.
Sexy Love by Ne-Yo
This was a nice departure from the hard hitting hip-hop we usually see. Allison and Ivan are together on this one with simple yet perfectly executed moves. All of the judges love it. Natalie and Ryan pull contemporary
I Will Get There by Boyz II Men
This was very pretty but unemotional for me. I have grown to like these contemporary pajama party routines, but this was kind of flat.
Benji and Heidi get the club mambo
Black Mambo by Angel and the Mambokats
Alex de Silva can whip up some amazing but difficult dance routines and these two just nailed it again. Nigel is nearly out of breath with compliments, going so far as to say they are the reason So You Think You Can Dance is the number one summer show. Dan Karaty says it was easily the most professional routine on the show this year.
TweetDesigners create for Miss USA - “Project Runway”
As expected, Kayne was in designer heaven when this week’s (JUL. 19) challenge included designing a gown for Miss USA. Kayne, co-owns a prom-pageant store in Oklahoma and could hardly hold back his excitement.
I was thrilled, and surprised the judges concluded that Malan’s design was the losing entry this week. Clearly his partner, had little to offer in terms of being a designer, but only one designer was sent packing. I would agree there design was not the best, I just thought the judges wanted to continue the Malan drama.
Here is Kayne and Robert winning creation.

If this episode is any indication, this season will be filled with all the reality TV excitement and drama ” Project Runway” viewers have come to expect. So far, it would appear that Vincent, Angela and Jeffery are going to be the drama queens for this season… although, as we all know, it all comes down to the editing.

Tweet‘Nooooooo…’Dance’ is splitting up the couples!
Most of the solos were amazing tonight. Travis really got my heart though. I’m such a softy. Bye Bye Ashley and Musa. This really isn’t too surprising although after the solo I thought it may be Dmitry. The bigger surprise for me tonight was how they will change up the dancing next week.
Each dancer will dance three times. Two couple dances and one solo. America votes for the individual. But splitting the couples apart? NOOOOOOOOO. I can’t imagine Travis dancing with anyone other than Martha and Benji and Donyelle, forget about it! And now after the passionate contemporary dance of Ivan and Allison, they can’t split them up. You could tell the dancers were surprised as well. I thought poor Travis was going to faint. At the very least it should be interesting!
The dancers have been narrowed down enough that the show is only an hour. I’m actually pretty bummed about that. I love watching this show. I could watch for a much longer period than one or two hours.
Let’s talk about last night’s dancing…
Natalie and Musa doing Hip Hop
Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado
My favorite judge and choreographer Dan Karaty really put a good one together for these two. Natalie pulled off the perfect tease and Musa the a-typical skirt chaser. Outside of the acting part, I wasn’t all that impressed with the dancing. Musa was in his element and pretty good, but Natalie “isn’t a funky little while girl.
Ryan and Heidi get Cha-Cha
Sex Bomb by Tom Jones
This was one of the hottest choreographed Cha-Cha’s I’ve ever seen. Heidi looked really amazing. She’s a little skinny, but boy can she move. Ryan is so cute, but not in a smoldering Musa kind of way, but more in a boy next door way and that comes across in his dancing. Just not quite as steamy as it could have been, but nonetheless hot!
Ivan and Allison picked a Contemporary dance
Why by Annie Lennox
Wow. Did I say WOW?! Allison is always great, but Ivan knocked my socks off. I really wasn’t expecting him to be this good. They were just brilliant. They completely captured the necessary maturity and intimacy for this dance. Wow!
Ashlee and Dmitry pulled Pop
Let Me by Rihanna
Okay, so Pop is a watered down version of Hip Hop with a jazz influence. It’s good we cleared that up. The routine is fun and funky but not much more. Even though they were dancing together, they didn’t feel like they were dancing together, you know what I mean? Seems to be that the guy judges were slamming Karaty’s choreography as much as the dancers. Dmitry is a great Latin dancer but lacks the versatility in the other styles. He may be gone this week.
Martha and Travis pull the Foxtrot
Witchcraft by Steve Tyrell
Poor Travis. Seems like he just can’t get a break lately…until he meets quirky little Frenchman choreographer Jean-Marc Genereaux. What a character. Although they were elegant and looked better than I thought they would, it wasn’t spectacular. To me, they lack the chemistry that works so well for a couple of the other teams.
Donyelle and Benji play Broadway
You can’t stop the beat from Hairspray
I just love these two. This dance was very high energy and matched their personalities, but it wasn’t one of my favorites. It lacked the intimacy that I love to watch between these two but it really was great. Interesting enough, Judge Nigel makes a very bold statement, regarding Benji “If you don’t win it, I’ll be very surprised.” Then he tells Donyelle the same thing. Wow.
Tweet“Project Runway 3” A drama reality winner!
Season three of BravoTV’s hit series, Project Runway 3 aired tonight (JUL 12) and it looks to be a drama filled winner of show.
I know, I should have been writing my paper about Alan Greenspan and the economy, but I couldn’t help my self, I love this show so much, I typed as I watched.
While I don’t remember everyone’s name, this series looks to have some great reality TV characters. I’ll re-watch it over the weekend, but I mean really, what’s not to love about a designer who runs a pageant, prom boutique?
Who are your favorites?
TweetOhioan competes in “Project Runway 3”
“Project Runway 3” is here! One of the best reality shows on TV is back tonight for its third season and this season looks to be a good one.
This season will feature 15 designers selected from thousands on hopefuls for an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show their designs in New York’s Fashion Week. Each week the designers face-off in challenges meant to separate the best from the rest. Of course, this is where the great reality TV comes in as the designers snip, cut, jab, stretch and snap at and sometimes on each other fraying their last nerve.
The “Project Runway 3 designers are:
- Bradley Baumkirchner, 32, Los Angeles, CA
- Robert Best, 36, West Hollywood, CA
- Laura Bennett, 42, New York, NY
- Malan Breton, 32, Long Island City, NY
- Bonnie Dominguez, 31, San Diego, CA
- Stacey Estrella, 40, San Francisco, CA
- Katherine Gerdes, 25, Minneapolis, MN
- Kayne Gillaspie, 27, Norman, OK
- Ulrike “Uli Herzner, 35, Miami Beach, FL
- Alison Kelly, 25, Brooklyn, NY
- Angela Keslar, 33, Amesville, OH
- Michael Knight, 28, Atlanta, GA
- Vincent Libretti, 49, Santa Monica, CA
- Keith Michael, 34, New York, NY
- Jeffrey Sebelia, 36, Los Angeles, CA
This season features one Ohioan, Angela Keslar, from Amesville, near Athens. Her website is http://www.angelakeslar.com. She and her husband share a 225-acre farm in southeastern Ohio living totally off the grid, “powered by solar electricity and good organic food.”
Saturn will award the winner a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster. The winner’s designs will be featured in a spread in ELLE magazine and Macy’s will award them with a mentorship with I.N.C. International Concepts. The winning designer will also walk away with $100,000 in seed money from TRESemmé to help launch his or her own line.
The host of the show is supermodel, Heidi Klum. Judges for the show include Michael Kors, fashion designer; Elle Magazine fashion director, Nina Garcia and a guest judge each week. Tim Gunn, Chair of Fashion Design for Parson the New School for Design, serves as the contestants mentor.
The show airs on Bravo TV on Wednesday at 10 p. m. E. T.
A One-hour special will air before the season premier, showing casting calls and other fun behind the scenes special moments. In other words, all the crazy fashion star want-to-bees! Starts at 9 p. m. E. T.
TweetNorth Korea can’t stop Kathy Grffin
Last week’s rocket firings by North Korea bumped Kathy Griffin off Larry King Live, but that didn’t stop the d-lister. she is… She’s back. The interview will air tonight at Monday at 9 p.m. ET.on CNN
Of course we can expect her to dish dirt on the A-listers, but she is also expected to talk about her break-up with Matt and many more fun reality TV scoops.
From the Chicago Tribune today Kathy said “she didn’t want to talk about her relationship with Moline “at this timeâ€? because she didn’t want the second season of her show to echo “Breaking Bonaduce,â€? a harsh reality show chronicling the harrowing personal life and marriage of Danny Bonaduce”. I guess we can give her a little credit for that one.
I can’t wait to hear the whole story, I just love her.
Kathy reality show, Kathy Griffin, My Life on the D-list, airs on Bravo TV
TweetDoes “American Idol” need another award?
Reality TV Shows nominated for Emmy awards were announced and eight reality shows received 31 nominations! They are: The Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, The Apprentice, Project Runway, and Survivor.
My favorite was nominated, Project Runway! Just who doesn’t love fashion and drama all rolled into one runway worthy design? It has to be one of the best shows in recent years and is always leaving the viewers on pins and needles. I’m also cheering for Bravo’s Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-list.
Based on the blog entries here, many of you thought Dancing with the Stars was the best… and of course there’s the crowd favorite, American Idol. Does the Idol staff really need an Emmy when they get the most viewers and do none of the work, it’s the contestants who do the work???
The Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, Aug. 27th on ABC.
Do you have a favorite?
Tweet‘Dance’ partners Jessica and Jaymz finally gone!
Let me start by saying I like this judging format. America picks the bottom three couples but the judges actually choose those that leave. That’s about as fair as it gets and so far I’ve agreed with everyone who has left each week.
Gone, gone, gone… Jessica has stayed longer than she should have. She keeps talking about her great personality but it doesn’t come through in her dancing. Or at least not yet and now she won’t get the chance. The judges got it right tonight! Jessica’s partner Jaymz is gone too. Another correct pick by the judges, although his Pasa Doble’ was amazing tonight. I have to say it’s the first time I’ve actually enjoyed Jaymz.
Recap from last night:
Heidi and Ryan - Hip-Hop Give it all you got by Afrorican
I have to say I agreed with Dan Karaty on this one. They looked too perfect and they almost looked aggressive enough to be krumping. The fact that I know what that means is a little scary. I enjoyed it, but not as much as other Hip Hop routines. I understand why they are in the bottom three.
Martha and Travis - Salsa Tanga by Machito and his Afro-Cubans
I thought these two improved tremendously from the clips of them in practice. I just didn’t feel it like I have with the other Latin dances this season. I love Travis, not as nuts about Martha.
Ashlee and Dmitry - Contemporary Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy
This was definitely an interesting dance. I think I disliked the dance so much that it distracted me from the dancers. They weren’t so horrible but given all seven couples I can see why they are in the bottom three. Dmitry must be getting pretty used to dancing for his life.
Natalie and Musa - Disco Hot Stuff by Donna Summer
I must be one of the only people in America that didn’t go nuts for this routine. Yes it was good, but this one seemed more choreographed to me than not. But is it because I’m old enough to actually remember Disco? Don’t know.
Donyelle and Benji – Viennese Waltz Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams
Ya’ll know by know these two are my favorites. I thought they did wonderfully this week. Not my favorite performance of theirs, but still great. I hope they can go a long, long way.
Ivan and Allison – West Coast Swing Don’t Happen No More by Pat Benetar
I thought these two were absolutely charming. I cannot believe they are in the bottom three. They were fun, fun, fun. Allison is always great but Ivan never ceases to amaze me.
Jessica and Jaymz - Hip Hop I can make you dance by Zapp
These are the two that need to be gone tonight. They are good dancers, but not at the level as the others. And the whole whining thing last night about dancing out of their genre, please…they all do that every week.
