Queen Oprah to expand empire into reality TV
“Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give” and tentatively titled “Your Money or Your Life” have been sold by Oprah’s production company to ABC.
Variety.com is reporting these shows will “focus on wish fulfillment and making lives better.” “Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give” will give 10 people money and resources with cameras rolling watching the “dramatic and emotional ways” they help others. The “Big Give” sounds similar to a recent episode where audience members, including two women from the Dayton area, were given $1,000 gift cards and challenged them to help others.
Both shows will focus on the positive and stay away from mean humiliating used by other shows. “Your Money or Your LIfe” will organize around the notion of a family in crisis. No time-line has been set for the release of either series.
While it is unclear if Oprah will host either show, she will appear in at least one of the shows.
