Calling all Idols! Here’s your chance to be an ‘Online Idol.’
Okay, let’s be honest. Have you ever day dreamed about standing on a stage, microphone in hand, singing your heart out to an audience of supportive fans? I know I have. The question is…if there were actually an opportunity to share your talent without having to face Randy, Paula and Simon, would you?
American Idol wanna be’s and fans hold on to your hats because we’ve just added a little local flavor and fun to the coming American Idol season and the best part is that you can participate in a couple ways!
First, you can send us a video showing off your undiscovered talent (here’s how - but you’ve got to hurry because the deadline is Monday, January 8) and/or stay tuned and vote on your favorite local talent beginning with the debut of American Idol’s season six on Tuesday, January 16.
Here’s how our Online Idol will work: three of us (yes, I’ve been asked to be a judge, how cool is that?) will choose the best local talent from the video’s submitted to us. Then we will post several each week to see who you think is the best until we narrow down to four, then two, then one Online Idol of our very own. This will coincide with the beginning weeks of the TV show American Idol giving us fanatics someone to vote for locally until it’s time to start voting for our favorites from the American Idol’s top twenty.
When I heard that we were going to launch our very own version of Idol, I was pretty excited. Have you seen the promo video that our very own Otis Gowens shot during Karaoke at the fabulous Therapy Café in Dayton? Wow. I hope that a couple of the folks that were taped that night are reading this and PLEASE send in a video. There is some incredible talent in that video clip.
“I could do better than that!” Admit it…you’ve said it or at least thought it while watching the early weeks of American Idol. Now you can prove it! If you’ve been told by your friends and family that you are a great singer, grab that camcorder or borrow someone else’s and share your talent. If you have a friend that blows you away every time you hear them sing, encourage them to send us their video. I know for a fact that there is a ton of awesome local singers in church choirs or garage and bar bands here in the good old Miami Valley.

I already was looking forward to American Idol 2007 now I have a friend, Becky you know who you are, who has to enter this contest. Just has to. I am going to work on her.

This is going to be awesome! I hope that this is successful and local people can show their talents. This will be a great way for people that have the talent but lack the funds to be able to go to the actual show. As a huge Idol fan - I can’t wait to see what people submit!
