Bye Bye Chris Sligh on ‘American Idol’

So how did we DDN.com Idol Poll voters do predicting the outcome tonight? Well, we liked Melinda, Blake and Gina the best and Sanjaya by far was the worst. In fact, three times more people voted that he get the boot than even took the time to vote for their favorite AND he stays again tonight.

OK people of Southwest Ohio. Did you call and vote for your favorite? No? Stop that! I challenge each and every one of you to take a couple minutes next week and vote for anyone other than Sanjaya and let our voices be heard!

Bottom three…Phil, Hailey and Chris Sligh.

Gwen Stephani performed with Akon (didn’t know who that was) looking as beautiful as she did last night. This is one pop star who can sing live. Many of them can’t so I was pleasantly surprised. She’s so adorable and after her insightful and honest comments to the Idols this week, I like her even more than I did before. I think it’s so awesome that she did the show.

With heels, she looked down at Ryan and that kind of surprised me because I’ve always thought of her as tiny. Tiny and short. So this must mean Ryan is just really short. : )

Funny thing…I checked DialIdol.com and they have Melinda, Chris Richardson and LaKisha as the top three vote getters. Chris R.? I never would have guessed that. Do you think he’s that good?

Number 4 most votes according to DialIdol? Lord help us all…Sanjaya.

Back to the Idol bottom three…and it’s Phil, Haley and Chris Sligh. If you take Sanjaya out of the equation this is the right bottom three.

Okay, my blue eyes are safe!!! You go Phil. Randy and Paula wouldn’t predict who was going home out of Chris and Haley but Simon says he thought “Bye, bye Curly!” And once again Simon is right and Haley is safe. Chris Sligh is going home.

Chris Sligh is leaving a little earlier than I would have thought but I have no problem with this. The last couple of weeks he just hasn’t brought it. He’s better than Sanjaya though!!!!

Okay Idol fans, please pick up the phone and vote next week and I’ll put myself on the top of that list. No more excuses just because I’m blogging. I’ll vote next week if you will!

How low can you go, ABC?

First to go: So long, Paulina
I thought Shandi Finnesi (the epitome of all things American) would be booted … she was stiffer than Paulina Porizkova. But she’s a knock out, right? Perhaps, America just loves the way she looks.

Best quote: “I guess my fan base was my family and they were not extensive enough,” Porizkova said.

Pointless. Frustrating. A waste of time
The elimination show. Give me a break. This is the most insulting thing I’ve ever seen from reality TV. It’s an utter waste of time. The results show needs to go. U gather up this huge audience for Dancing with the Stars and you have them sitting around for just commercials and poop. I’m ashamed to admit I even watched it. The results show was a really weak show to go on for an hour … if this is how ABC wants to squander a LIVE audience then to hell with’em, I’ll start watching ‘Idol!’

Blackout No, I’m not talking about what you think … there was an actual black out for about a minute at the end of the show. @#$@? How can you build up to this cheesy poof of an elimination show and tick off viewers with technical difficulties?

What about you?
Who did you think was gonna go first? Paulina and her partner (Alec Mazo) didn’t have the lowest score, by the way.

Your voting: It looks like Paulina and Alec weren’t who most of you voted for on our online poll. Billy Ray took that award hands down. I’m having a change of heart for old Billy Ray (wannabee Keith Urban) Cyrus. He’s providing great comedy. So, when he actually dances well, America loves it. As for Clyde “too tall to tango” Drexler, I don’t know. Loved the man as an NBA player, but I’m feeling sorry for him dancing. He seems to be strugglin’ bad. But I think he gives giants everywhere something to hope for. I mean, let’s see you grow to 6’7”/6’9” and try to dance the quick step. LOL!

The wasting of Dionne Warwick
Oh, and the performance by Warrick was great. But they presented her to us on a trash can lid. You have this great guest performer and your production for your elimination show sucks. What a waste. I would have rather experienced the stars and their partners dancing to Warrick’s music than the professionals. ABCs gonna ruin this, just you wait and see. They are gonna force me to watch American Idol. And I do NOT want to do that.

‘American Idol’s’ Sanjaya…can he get any worse?

I want to start by reminding everyone to vote tonight on your favorite Idol and the one that must go home…Sanjaya…on the DDN.com American Idol poll.

So it’s Gwen Stephani night. I’ve always thought she was beautiful but she looks even prettier if that’s possible tonight. She has the most flawless complexion. It actually looks airbrushed. I was surprised with her demeanor because she’s so edgy and wild on stage but she seemed almost demure in the opening interview. And she really gave some pretty pointed comments about the singers. This should be good tonight.

LaKisha Jones

Singing Last Dance by Donna Summer I was so glad to see that she sang something most of the viewing audience would know instead of the broadway-esque choices she’s been making lately. I love LaKisha but I think she needed to bring it up a little more to compete with Melinda, Blake and Jordin. The judges were happy to welcome the “young” LaKisha back and so was I.

Chris Sligh

Everything Little Thing She Does by the Police was a great choice for Chris. There were a couple pitchy parts but overall I really liked this. I wish the performers didn’t feel like they always have to be all over the stage. I know it’s good for performance points but it isn’t always necessary. The bouncy dancing thing he did was kind of goofy but I did really like Chris doing this song. Paula and Randy said he wasn’t keeping with the tempo but I rewound it and it didn’t bug me. Simon thought it was a mess but I didn’t see that at all.

Gina Glocksen

Gwen sounded like she was a Gina fan as I am. I’ll Stand By You was a great choice for Gina. I thought she was confident and only struggled on a couple of notes out of her range. And the crowd goes wild…Randy thought it was one of the best performances of hers ever (and I would agree), Paula…blah, blah, blah, and Simon said it was her best performance! Then he added it was the best performance so far tonight which was a huge compliment seeing that LaKisha sang earlier.

Sanjaya Malakar

I’m not real sure that Gwen Stephani was a big fan of Sanjaya’s version of No Doubt’s Bathwater. In fact, I think she pretty much wrote him off. He was awful! Awful! He looked awful and he sang worse. Awful! What was he thinking with that seven ponytail faux-hawk hair! Is he trying to get kicked off the show? I think someone has paid him to be as bad as possible to see how far he can go. Simon says it’s obvious that it doesn’t matter what they say anymore that Sanjaya is in his own little universe and people vote for him anyway.

Haley Scarnato

True Colors by Cindy Lauper was what I thought was another good song choice this evening. I think Haley has really grown in the last several weeks because I was surprised she even made it into the Top 12 and now I think she gets better each week so I’m a little surprised that the judges didn’t like it, sweet but forgettable Simon said.

Phil Stacey Gwen was pleasantly surprised by Phil’s rendition of Every Breath You Take by the Police and so was I. It was a good song choice for him and oh, oh Phil, those blue eyes!

Melinda Doolittle

Melinda chose another Donna Summer song, Heaven Knows. Gwen was a huge fan. The stylists try to young Melinda up and it just doesn’t ring true for me but there’s no doubt this girl can sing! And I think she can probably sing anything. As good as she was, it wasn’t my favorite performance of hers by a long shot. If course the judges loved her. Okay, as much as I love her may I be the first to say the doe eyed look of terrified anticipation she gets waiting for the judges comments is starting to get a little old. I think Ryan even picked up on that with his comment about still looking so scared.

Blake Lewis

Love Song by the Cure was Blake’s choice. Gwen worried about the beat boxing and once he started singing I could understand why. It has a nice slow reggae feel and thank goodness he left the beat boxing out! Good song choice but he was a little pitchy in parts. Blake is going to be a pop idol like Chris Daughtry no matter how far he goes. The male judges thought it was a bit boring but Paula didn’t think so. I think it

Jordin Sparks

It surprised both me and Gwen that Jordin chose No Doubt’s Hey Baby. I think she wanted to show some versatility and youth and I’m not so sure it paid off. She was pretty nervous and I think it showed. Now Randy thought it was brilliant, Paula loved it and Simon thinks she’s the one that has grown the most in the show.

Chris Richardson

Another No Doubt song by Chris R with Don’t Speak. It was okay, but as Simon would say pretty forgettable. I wonder if Idol put him last just in case America decided to switch channels to Dancin’ with the Stars at 9:00 p.m. Personally, they should have left Blake or Melinda for last but who am I? Randy called it “interesting” before he called it good. Paula thought it was good and Simon thought he struggled with his vocals.

Okay, now it’s time to vote for your favorite on our DDN.com poll. Who is going tomorrow night?

Heather Mills did a backflip!

Yes, she did. Heather Mills brought some serious heat to the competition for the ladies during her mambo. NOT!!!! It was decent. But the only thing attention worthy was the backflip or back walkover.

The video isn’t available yet. But I’ll link to it ASAP. I’m mad I didn’t catch all of it. I turned my head to conversate for a bit and when I turned back she was heels over head across Jonathan Roberts’ knee into a back flip. The crowd went bananaz … and to all those betting on that leg flying off into YouTube glory … it didn’t … yet. So keep hope alive on that one.

Doesn’t that make you feel all fuzzy like? Heather’s doing it for the children, people! She’s inspiring the children. Except those childish Brits who still hate her bloody guts.

The true contenders were Laila Ali… who is the only woman among the stars who could shake her hips. Her mambo was way too sexy (the guys danced the quick step). She was every bit the tramp Bruno Tonioli was looking for. LOL! He threw that word around several times. No one (save Ali) was raunchy enough for the mambo. Leeza Gibbons was too stiff (again) … the Barbie Doll (Shandi Finnessey) is just nice to look at and is about as fluid as a hot asphalt statue. Brian Fortuna literally had to dance around her.

The only contenders seem to be Apollo Ohno, Laila Ali, and Joey Fatone.

The Most Improved Train Wreck of the night was Keith Urban, I mean … Billy Ray Cyrus. He got tripple 7s from the judges for his quick step.

What do you think? So who’s going home Tuesday? AND don’t forget it’s going to be a 7 minute fight with American Idol.

More a bit later …

So who won “Grease: You’re the One That I Want”?

The magical box of goodness, aka the DVR, seems not to have recorded the finale of “Grease: You’re the One That I Want”, so tell me more, tell me more…

Who will it be? - Max and Laura? Austin and Ashely? or some combination in between? Was it even close?

I’m counting on you to fill me in, at lease until the show re-runs on Bravo later in the week.

So, who are the next Sandy and Danny?

Anna Nicole Smith’s Diaries fetch more than $500,000 on Ebay

Unless you’re holding a secret that someone’s willing to pay for, I’d imagine that most of our diaries, while priceless, might only fetch a few dollars at best. If the diaries are written by the late Anna Nicole Smith, the price equation might changes.

Two of the late reality TV star’s diaries where sold at auction on Ebay this week and combined fetched more than $612,500 with the buyer’s premium added. According to many press accounts, the buyer, a German business man, plans to sell the details of the diaries to the press and turn around and sell the actual diaries later in the year.

According to the company that sold the items, the diaries included the following entries:

“It was a okay day,” June 11, 1992. “I had lunch with Howard. Someone ran over my cat yesterday. I was real sad.”

In a 1994 entry, she wrote about his illness. “My husbands very weak. Theres nothing I can do,” she wrote. “I want each hour to comfort him with medicines and prayers.”

Other items of interest in this sale included multiple receipts and canceled checks including one receipt for jewelry purchased by billionaire Howard Marshall that sold for $2,200.

So is did the buyer of the diaries overpay?

Wait a minute! ‘Idol’ stepping on ‘Stars’

Fox is not letting Dancing with the Stars slip away. They are going to extend American Idol by seven minutes thereby stepping into the introductory dances of ‘Stars.’

What do you think about that move? Is it cheap, desperate or brilliant? Which will you watch? Catch up on the story.

Star dancer Cheryl Burke agrees she and partner got screwed Burke agreed that she and Ian Ziering got screwed on Monday when they had to perform first in the live fourth-season debut of Dancing with the Stars (CTV/ABC).

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dancin’
Are any of you going dancing this weekend? Where do you dance and what are your favorite dances?

For all you Latin dance lovers out there you won’t want to miss Son del Caribe (LIVE) at the Latin Dance Party at the bar formerly known as Adam’s Rib (yes the dancing is still going on.)

If I go, I’ll have to take my camera and post some pictures. It’s sure to be fun.

Is your money where her leg is?

Are you one of those who are banking on Heather Mills losing her prosthetic leg during “Dancing with the Stars?” TMZ.com reports that “If you bet $100 that it does happen, the gambling website Bodog.com will pay out $350. … “Heather Mills’ leg must fall off, not be purposely taken off, during a dance routine for all Yes wagers to be graded a Win.”

Also, are we falling in love too quickly with Heather Mills? Do we even care that she’s hated overseas for her messy divorce with beloved Beatle Paul McCartney? The New York Times has a pretty good story on how the British use America the way we (Americans) use rehab. So, why are we giving Mills a second shot here?

Did you know that Paul sent her flowers prior to her performance? Check out the news here and here .

For the record, Mills WON’T be sent home Tuesday … if that happens something is royally screwy with the show AND voters LOL!

Sanjaya stays again on ‘American Idol’

Guess what ya’ll thought about who was best and who was worst last night? According to the DaytonDailyNews.com American Idol poll Melissa is our favorite with 38% of your vote. There were no big surprises here…Sanjaya is in the lead in who should be given the boot at 77%.

Blake Lewis, Phil Stacey, and Melinda Doolittle are not in the bottom three. Phil was rather enthusiastic about not being in the bottom three. I’m secretly glad.

Chris Sligh, LaKisha Jones, Jordin Sparks are also not in the bottom three.

Sanjaya Malakar, Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato are not in the bottom three.

Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards are in the bottom two this week. Oh man, Sanjaya would be in this group. I think Stephanie is a nice person but of the two I hope she goes.

Peter Noone sang at the beginning of the show and LuLu sings late making Chris and Stephanie suffer through this stuff to find out who is leaving tonight. I really liked her very solid advice she gave the idols last night. She’s in great shape and looks fantastic tonight.

After 30 million votes, Chris is staying and Stephanie Edwards has to go home. She most definitely deserves to be here so much more than the 17 year old heart throb.

I know a lot of people are disappointed in this season but these people are really growing on me and I am so excited for next week’s show. You?

So what’s next for Britney Spears?

Less than 30 days after beginning her rehab program, Britney Spears is out and ready to do (you fill in the blank)?

While her fans are hopeful she has made a full recovery and will rehab her singing career, others are less sure.

Here are a few of the suggestions I found online:

  • Run away to Vegas and re-marry Kfed (Kfed is planning to be there this weekend - Boston Globe) so one never knows.

  • Brittney will become a stay at home mom.

  • File for bankruptcy - According to the story Britney has spent nearly 2/3 of her 32 million dollar fortune. (http://www.ecanadanow.com)

  • Move to Louisiana - “It is heartbreaking to go from knowing Britney as she was as a child to seeing how she is now, with everything falling apart. It is sad.” Chanda McGovern Britney’s Aunt - http://fametastic.co.uk

  • Go back to rehab to fight sugar addiction - “She is also constantly eating lollipops and other hard candy and when she eats food, it’s always something sweet, like danishes (pastries) or donuts or cake or cookies.” - http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/

There were also many, many other items I found suggesting what is next for the former pop diva I just couldn’t include… they were just too TOXIC.

Regardless of what is next, I’m sure we’ll be reading all about it.

So what’s next for Britney Spears? Any thoughts?

‘American Idols’ step it up tonight!

I started watching tonight thinking, “Boy I sure hope this season gets better.” I really want the anticipation and excitement of last season and so far it’s falling short but tonight I think it went in the right direction. Not perfect, but better than the last couple week. Let us know how you feel about tonight’s performances by voting in our DDN.com American Idol Poll.

I didn’t know who Peter Noone and Lulu were but they apparently they were somehow involved in the British Invasion of the 1960s. There were some just amazing songs during this period in our musical history. Great songs. Lulu worked with the girls and Peter the guys.

By the way, before I forget… each of the contestant’s full length studio recordings of tonight’s songs will be available for download tomorrow on AmericanIdol.com. Wonder how many I’ll want?

Haley Scarnato

Haley did much better with Tell Him than she has in recent weeks. If only she didn’t have to walk in those heals. Bu as far as her performance, she did great with the audience and judge interaction this week and the perfect amount of sexiness. I really enjoyed this performance. Randy said the performance had the “Yo” factor all over it. Simon called her a bit “naughty” and commented that people would be talking about much more than her singing tonight.

Chris Richardson

Chris wants to finally nail a song so he can prove himself. So his song choice tonight was Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Cryin.’ I loved the beginning with the acoustic guitar, then the strings come in…nice. I think Chris did a really great job. It showed off his voice and nice falsetto…oh yeah, and he’s cute. The judges all had favorable comments and the crowd goes wild! BUT, there’s one thing that really bugs me about his voice. Sometimes it feels like he’s sliding into tune. It’s like when he first sings a note, it’s out of pitch just slightly so he then he slides into it. Tell me if I’m nuts, but it’s distracting to me.

Stephanie Edwards

Singing You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me was a good song choice even though she was a little pitchy tonight. Stephanie has a very strong voice and this song showed a bit of her softer side and also gave her the opportunity to showcase the bigness of her voice. But I can’t help think she she has even bigger in her. She lacks passion or she doesn’t feel the song or something I can’t quite put my finger on. Not so wonderful comments from the judges…Simon misses the passion and rawness of Stephanie’s earlier performances and he says she’s lost her “soul.”

Blake Lewis

Blake made Time of the Season from 1967 sound like it could have been written and recorded yesterday. Last week I didn’t like what he did to modernize the song but this week he got it right. I really didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. I don’t always appreciate the beatboxing being thrown into almost every song but this week it really fit. And as much as it makes me feel like a dirty old woman, I think Blake was just sexy and hot tonight. The only problem was a couple of high notes that he just didn’t quite hit. Randy loved it and said it had the “massive Yo” factor. Paula and Simon both agreed that this was the strongest performance so far. I predict Blake will be the last MAN to go! It will be a final four of Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin and Blake.

LaKisha Jones

Diamonds are Forever and You’re My World were LaKisha’s choices and LuLu wanted her to sing You’re My World but LaKisha stuck with her gut and went with Diamonds. Since I’m not familiar with either song I cannot say which one would have been better but this was good. It just didn’t knock me off my feet. I thought it sounded a little like a James Bond song and my husband shouted from the other room that it was. It was wonderful as usual but not Randy and Simon’s favorite…and it wasn’t mine either. Perhaps she should have taken LuLu’s advice.

Phil Stacey

Peter thought he had never heard Tobacco Road sung as well as Phil sang it. I wish we could have heard it the way he did. In the studio a little more relaxed. I don’t know if it’s nerves or just adding the running around to the performance, but it lost something from the rehearsal room to the stage. He did have a couple moments in the performance, but it wasn’t my favorite tonight by a long shot. Simon thought it wasn’t believable and it sounded like a 3rd rate bar performance. There was a couple boo’s from the audience but not a ton. Oh no, Phil may go tomorrow.

Jordin Sparks

LuLu thought Jordin was amazing. I Who Have Nothing was the perfect song for her huge voice. Oh my, she was incredible. With a little maturity and real life under her belt she is going to be unstoppable. The truth of the matter is that Jordin would make a better American Idol (from an image point of view) than either LaKisha or Melinda. Simon said he felt gloomy and depressed after the song - he just wanted some sunshine or something - which says to me she communicated the tone of the music and lyrics very well and with the intent that it was written.

Sanjaya Malakar

You Really Got Me is a super fun song and Sanjaya is not going anywhere this week. He worked this song with a good mix of sexy and raw. Loved the earrings and his wardrobe fwas perfect and young. In fact, I’ll bet this is he reason he is still in this thing. Randy and Paula were surprised, as was I, by this performance and Simon just didn’t comment. Like I said, he wont be in the bottom three this week.

Gina Glocksen

What a great new haircut Gina has. Short and sassy! It really suits her. She sings Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones. I think this was a great song for her but I think she struggled with the lower octave a bit. Simon thought that there were moments of torture in her performance and as much as I hate to admit it, I fear I have to agree. Gina could be in trouble tomorrow too.

Chris Sligh

She’s Not There by the Zombies is a great song for Chris although I wonder if he has enough punch and grit for it. I loved the verses but he sounded as if he were forcing it through the chorus. A little shouty for me but the kid has talent and he’ll be around another week, no problem.

Melinda Doolittle

As Long As He Needs Me was way out of her comfort zone says Melinda but you would never, never know. All I can say is “shivers.” Once again, she was magnificent. She has overtaken LaKisha in my book now and she is truly in a league of her own. But can she sell pop records?

Okay, now it’s time to vote for your favorite on our DDN.com poll. Who is going tomorrow night?

‘The Fat One’ rules opening of ‘Dancing’ season 4 …

Season 4 of Dancing with the Stars is off to a pretty good start. The 2-hour live show was a bit long in places and wore you down towards the end, but Heather Mills was worth the wait. Her leg didn’t fall off. We can all cheer and the village is saved. “Whoopie!”

Did anyone really think it would fall off anyway? Come on, that probably won’t happen, though it would make for some very interesting TV.

The male stars danced the cha cha and the female stars danced the foxtrot.

Onward …

IAN ZIERING The first dancer was Ian Ziering and the FINE Cheryl Burke (who was partner to winners of season 3: Emmitt Smith and season 2: Drew Lachey). Ian is a good dancer. Not only is he tall and sleek but he glides well and was very fluid and has the charisma to win over the judges and even some of America’s votes. However, he had the unfortunate task of going first so it is easy to forget how good he was. I look for Cheryl to bring out some great moves with this guy when it counts.

I gave Ian and Cheryl’s first performance a 7. I wanted to go 8, but he was good and fluid but didn’t really make the impact needed for one going first in a 2-hour live show. I wanted more.

Score: 21 (Bruno Tonioli: 7; Carrie Ann Inaba: 7; Len Goodman: 7).

PAULINA PORIZKOVA Next up was the 80’s supermodel Paulina Porizkova with partner Alec Mazo. Blah, blah, blah. They were OK. The performance was all but forgettable. They had smooth and crisp dips in the Foxtrot and their steps were on point, but they failed to fizzle past a 19 total score (Len Goodman: 6, Carrie Ann Inaba: 6, Bruno Tonioli: 7). But can you fizzle with a foxtrot? Apparently so. I gave her a 7.

Score: 19 (Len Goodman: 6; Carrie Ann Inaba: 6; Bruno Tonioli: 7)

BILLY RAY CYRUS Then we have Billy Ray “achey-breaky” Cyrus with the wonderful Karina Smirnoff. Where do I start? This guy immediately begged the question: Why is he trying to look like KEITH URBAN? (compare Billy Ray Urban to the real Keith Urban and tell me if I’m wrong! LOL!

He has a awesome partner but still came off looking like Larry The Cable Guy. Seriously, he’s gone next week if he doesn’t have a miracle. He’s the weakest link. He’s terrible. He showed way too much rock star and at the end of the dance he botched the part where he was supposed to pull of her wig. LMAO!!! I think he actually got a paw full of her real hair. Talk about wardrobe malfunction!

Bruno Tonioli gave the line of the night at the end of Urban’s I mean Cyrus’ dance: “You look like a crazy bear lost in a swamp.”

‘nuff sed.

Score: 13 (Carrie Ann Inaba: 5, Bruno Tonioli: 4, Len Goodman: 4); my score 4.

LEEZA GIBBONS Snooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Is she done yet? She just lost my interest. I was looking forward to her because she’s LEEZA GIBBONS. One of the hottest tv personalities Entertainment Tonight has ever had. Plus, she was representing for the 50-something crowd. I think that got to her because she was as about as smooth on the floor as a Volkswagen Camper Van. Were her hips botoxed or something? Because there was no motion. She looked too concerned about whatever … and was very unnerved.

The judges were merciful with her: 15 (Bruno Tonioli: 5, Carrie Ann Inaba: 5, Len Goodman: 5). And so was I: 5, hopefully she brings the noise next week. Oh, and her partner was … maybe we’ll care more next week.

JOEY “Fat One” FATONE Joey was good. In hindsight, it shouldn’t be very surprising but it is. I for one totally forgot who Joey Fatone was. I had him with NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK (LMAO!!!) and NOT N’SYNC. It was said that his hip-hop dancing with N’Sync may help him … anyway, N’Sync was NOT a hip-hop dance group, for the record. More pop than anything.

But he danced the Cha-Cha something fierce. He had spark, flavor and you couldn’t take your eyes off of him or his hot partner Kym Johnson. The two had chemistry and were sleek and confident.

Score: Carrie Ann Inaba: 8, Len Goodman: 8, Bruno Tonioli: 8. I gave them an 8, too. Carrie Ann was right, the competition started with this guy. Sorry Ian.

LAILA ALI Then we have the enchanting Laila Ali. Daughter of the baddest man alive: Muhammad Ali. The original Sweet Feet. The Greatest. But can she dance? Yes she can and something nice. I think she may be the sleeper among the ladies. She not only was graceful and fluid and had great form, but she oozed sexiness and confidence. She looked OUTSTANDING just the same. She brought the pain. I gave her an easy 8. Kudos to her partner: Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Bruno Tonioli: 8; Carrie Ann Inaba: 7; Len Goodman: 8

JOHN RATZENBERGER Then we have everyone’s favorite pig from Pixar’s Toy Story, that hilarious mailman from Cheers: John Ratzenberger. He had almost as much energy as the Fat One, but not lacked in execution. Hey, he was a late entry and had only two weeks to prepare (the others had a month). Partner: Edyta Sliwinska.

Score: 17 (Carrie Ann Inaba: 6; Len Goodman: 5; Bruno Tonioli: 6). My score: 7.

SHANDI FINNESSEY Partnered with Brian Fortuna this combo really did look like Ken and Barby (another Tonioli wise crack). Finnessey is very gangly. Beautiful and long. I think she had problems with the extensions because she was either too tall or not flexible enough. If looks could win this thing, they would probably take it home.

Score: 19 (Bruno Tonioli: 7; Carrie An Inaba: 6; Len Goodman: 6). My score: 7. And what was up with her sounding like a typical American with that comment about the Russian trainers? Not very funny at all.

CLYDE DREXLER Clyde “the Glide” Drexler, known more for awesome dunks than dips is NOT a baseball player. But he will not be known for dancing if he doesn’t show that BIG is beautiful. The judges gave a sympathetic and well deserved dump on the big guy. I’m interested in seeing how he and partner Elena Grinenko sell their next performance. I gave them a 6. Score: 16 (Carrie Ann Inaba: 6; Len Goodman: 5; Bruno Tonioli: 5)

HEATHER MILLS They were selling this one big time. Putting her next to last of a 2 hour show was smart but dumb. I kinda got tired of them selling her disability like it was impossible. I doubt very seriously they would let her get on television and be so ill-prepared and equiped that her prosthetic goes flying off into the band section (hey she did bring a spare). But we bought it hook, line and sinker. Partner: Jonathan Roberts.

On that note, Mills wasn’t bad at all. She was graceful and nice to look at. Score: 18 (Len Goodman: 6; Bruno Tonioli: 6; Carrie Inaba: 6). My score: 6.

APOLO ANTON OHNO The guy who can’t make time to practice and has a skunk on his chin disguised as a “soul-patch,” did an OK job. He has an enourmous upside and could win this thing if he would only MAKE time to learn the dances. He’s an Olympian and is competing while doing this show. A first. But if you are gonna do it … you have to try. I don’t think he was trying and STILL he got lucky 7s. Partner Julianne Hough.

Score: 21 (Bruno Tonioli: 7; Carrie Ann Inaba: 7; Len Goodman: 7). My score (yessir): 7. He has that much potential.

So what do you think? Do you think the show needed to be two hours? Were the judges unfair? Did they lean too much on the lady with the artificial leg? Let us know?

Anna Nicole Smith’s Diaries to be auctioned on Ebay.

Who says you can’t find just about everything you would ever want or need on Ebay? We can now add Anna Nicole Smith’s diaries, signed receipts, personal checks and more to the list of items we just can’t do without.

Pre-auction estimates for the two diaries come in at $500,000 to $1,000,000,000 with an affordable opening bid of just $25,000. If you’re on a budget and you just can’t live without something Anna, there is a signed receipt from F.A.O Schwartz with an opening bid of $95. (don’t forget to include the buyer’s premium, that’ll set you back another 20% of the hammer price).

Description of the sale: “These diaries along with several receipts, canceled personal checks, expired I.D. card and her Texas driver’s license were later discarded by Anna Nicole, and now more than a decade later “Universal Rarities” has obtained this amazing archive which peaks into the true soul of this sex symbol who is quickly gaining legendary status. Now, Universal Rarities is proud to present one of the most exciting finds of the 21st century: “The Anna Nicole Smith Auction” features many amazing pieces of Anna Nicole Smith memorabilia which has never before and probably never again been offered to the public. The diaries provide an exclusive look into the private life of the late blonde bombshell from the formative years of her modeling career up to the final days of the life of her late husband, J. Howard Marshall. All of her true secret thoughts in her own handwriting.” ebaylive.com

So, while the drama continues around the questions of who or what killed Anna Nicole, who’s the baby daddy, and just who owns that house in the Bahamas, it’s nice to know that we can all get in on the action with the upcoming auction.

What do you think, too soon for an auction? Are these people just being greedy?

Who Won? “Grease: You’re the one that I want” - Finals

The finale for Grease: You’re the one that I want is just a week away. On tonight’s show (MAR 18), Allie and Derek were sent home.

Leaving Austin, Max, Ashley S., and Laura to compete for the roles of Danny and Sandy in the Broadway production of “Grease” this summer.

max_home.jpg Max

austin_home.jpg Austin

laura_home.jpg Laura

ashley_home.jpg Ashley - Photos NBC.com

First up were the ladies, battling for a spot in the viewer’s hearts. Singing Hopefully Devoted to You - both performers belted out the tune, and to Daylen and I, it appears to have been a tie. But when pushed for a answer - Daylen would vote for Laura and Craig would vote for Ashley S.

The guys sang Sandy, despite strong performances by both singers, Max appears to have edged out Austin to win a chance for the Broadway show.

Along with individual performances the show also featured a duet selection - First up. Max and Laura - Austin and Ashley S. - Then the couples were mixed up to give us yet another look at the hopefuls.

One of the heartwarming back stories tonight the Grease fan’s got together on the message boards to bring Ashely’s sister to NY to watch the show (she had wanted to see her sister perform but couldn’t afford the ticket to see the show).

Like most things that og on in the world, there is almost always an Ohio connection and this time the connection is with Ashley S, who is from Massillon, Ohio

The Judges View’s - (and ours too) Max and Laura - will be the winners.

Next Sunday, the winners will be announced in a live show.

What did you think of the performances? Who will win?

Donald Trump for President in 2008?

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on the CNN The Situation Room today (MAR. 16) Donald Trump was asked his opinion on politics including his thoughts about some of the potential candidates for president in 2008.

Donald’s thoughts on: Hilary Clinton - “very talented very smart - probably will be the nominee - very brilliant person.” Barack Obama - “He’s a star. He’s made an impact.” John Edwards - “I don’t know him. He lost an election that should have been won.” Rudi Gulianai - “Very smart and very tough.” Based on the polls he’s doing very well.” John McCain - “I like him. He can’t win because he supports sending more troops to Iraq.” Mit Romney - “I think he’s probably not going to win… …two people who are way ahead” Michael Bloomberg “He’s done a great job as mayor. He’d be very formidable.”

Some of Donald’s other remarks: “George Bush is the worst president in the history U.S.”

Wolf asked whether the Donald would run for president. “I think I would do a very good job… we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in right now.” People wanted me to run… but I was never serious… Because I get good ratings people have always wanted me to run… It would certainly be fun… I’m loving being one of the largest real estate in the world…”

Whether the Donald runs or not, I’m really wondering why - when the Donald speaks, there never seems to be an end to the reporters who are ready to listen? Why? WHY I say? I mean really, how can we take the man who fired one of the Apprentice’s for calling themselves white trash… this decision coming from the man promoting Wrestlemania and was willing to shave his head if he lost his bet.

So, should the Donald throw his hat in the ring for President in 2008 or stay in the Wrestlemania ring?

‘American Idol’ says Bye bye Brandon

The schmucky group number at the beginning consisted of Diana Ross numbers of course. I find it interesting to watch the contestants perform in a more relaxed setting. Yes, they are still in a huge room with lots of screaming fans with millions of viewers…yes, a more relaxed setting.

LaKisha is the first one to be safe…then Gina…then it’s Brandon’s turn. He’s in the bottom three which is not a surprise. Jordin is safe…then Chris Richardson…then MelindaPhil is in the bottom three (not a surprise either). Chris Sligh is safe…Stephanie is okay as well…Blake of course is safe…oh no a well placed tension building commercial.

Now I find this very interesting. According to DialIdol.com Sanjaya got the third most calls last night, after Melinda and LaKisha. He may actually stick around a while longer. In case you’re not familiar with DialIdol.com they measure the busy signal to predict who will be voted off. Last season they were 87% accurate.

Diana Ross, Billboard magazine’s Entertainer of the Century, performs More Today than Yesterday, from her new CD. She still knows how to make an entrance doesn’t she? I wonder how much plastic surgery she’s had to maintain that body or maybe she is just a fitness nut. If the judges were rating her performance they would say she was pitchy and sounded like she was shouting on the higher notes. But I guess when you’re Diana Ross you can sing any way you want.

It’s down to Sanjaya and Haley…Sanjaya joins the bottom three. All men in the bottom three. Hmmmm, is this a big surprise to anyone?

After nearly 28,000,000 votes, Brandon goes home. I know he wasn’t awesome last night but he’s so much better than the other kid! So are all you viewers voting?
We said on our poll that we wanted Sanjaya gone. Oh well, I guess we see.

American Idol ran late and now that they have moved a sitcom after them there is no more going over their time so before we heard all the last minute stuff from Ryan, boom, they were gone. Can’t wait until next week!!!!

Surprises abound in ‘American Idols’ Top 12

Okay so Ryan said that there was a bigger band? Did they have brass last year? I don’t think so…how cool is that? Simon said it and I think he’s right…on this stage and at this point in the competition, everything changes so who knows what could happen?

Dianna Ross is the first celebrity coach of the season. Boy, I forgot that she had so many singing and musical accomplishments. She just became so weird in the last several years or so, I guess I forgot. I can’t wait to see what these kids choose out of this song selection!

It’s not a bunch of guys and a bunch of girls anymore; it’s just whoever is the best!

Brandon Rogers

Going to his center on advice from Diana, Brandon chooses The Supremes’ You Can’t Hurry Love. This big stage must be awful intimidating because the poor guy hit some real sour notes. He seemed much more relaxed sitting next to the piano with Diana. Oh no…he just forgot the words! Poor guy. I like Brandon and I want him to stay a while despite the judge’s negative comments.

Melinda Doolittle

Melinda has now given Diana Ross goose bumps along with a bunch of the rest of us. She chose to sing Home from the Wiz. When she started the song I wondered if she made the wrong choice and I’m still wondering. She was awesome but I wonder how many of the viewing audience had ever heard the song and if they will relate to it. Paula could hardly keep from sobbing long enough to give her critique.

Chris Sligh

Diana thought Chris was nervous but Chris doesn’t think he has a nervous bone in his body. He chooses Endless Love and I don’t think Diana liked the fact that he was trying to bring a modern feeling to this song. Oh Chris, don’t let the stylists take the goofy black glasses away from you. They are part of who you are to us! Despite the best efforts of Diana, Chris put his own spin on the song anyway. He took a chance, a big risk, and if the audience is anything like the judges, I don’t think it paid off for him.

Gina Glocksen

Star struck Gina decided to sing the same song her parents have a video tape of her singing at four years old, Love Child. I think this was a great song for Gina. She stayed with her rocky funky self but kept enough feel of the original. Randy didn’t feel her excitement but I did. The other judges were not crazy about it either but even though there were a couple pitchy spots, I loved this performance. I’m going to give away my age here but didn’t David Cassidy or the Partridge Family do a version of this song? I swear there was that familiar ring to it. Someone tell me I’m not crazy.

Sanjaya

Diana says Sanjaya is love. Ain’t no Mountain High Enough was his choice of Diana’s songs. This poor kid is just too tentative in his singing and Diana’s advice to dance around was bad for him. Bad, bad, bad. It just wasn’t natural. He may be cute with good curls but this is a singing contest isn’t it? For all the little girls and grandma’s out there, it’s a singing contest not a cute contest! Poor Randy was speechless about the singing but loved the hair. Paula, just shut up! Simon confused the poor kid by saying that Diana Ross would wail (not whale) when she heard it. Poor Sanjaya.

Haley Scarnato

In her rehearsal I thought that she sounded really good the little we heard of her. Singing Missing You was a good choice for her but she was still really pitchy and she forgot a couple words like Brandon did earlier. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in the Top 12, but twice in one night? Randy was not impressed and it’s never a good thing when Paula starts with “you look lovely tonight.” Simon surprised us all by saying he didn’t think it was that bad. Let me quote him for a moment, “…I think we will remember you now, I think you have real presence up there…I think you look like a star, I think you’re nerves got the better of you half way through the song, but if you can just hold it together you may do better than I thought you were going to do…very, very impressed with your presence on stage tonight.” Haley has just wanted a positive comment from Simon and tonight she got one!

Phil Stacey

Phil brought back memories for Miss Diana when he sang her duet with Marvin Gaye I’m Gonna Make You Love Me. Oh Phil, oh baby, those blue eyes and smile got me right off the bat. He said he was going to come out more confident and I think he did. I loved Phil tonight. It wasn’t perfect but he got my heart with that performance. Now for the judges…Randy said he loved the vocals but the performance was boring, as did Paula. Simon thought it was a good song for him…it wasn’t outstanding, it wasn’t awful, it was somewhere in the middle and better than last week. Simon must be feeling generous tonight because I think it’s probably his best review of Phil to date. Phil is in danger of becoming this year’s Ace for me with those blue, blue eyes.

LaKisha Jones

God Bless the Child was a Billy Holiday song originally and Diana can’t wait to see what she does with this song. I wasn’t fond of the song selection. Like with Melinda tonight, awesome song, great performance but I’m not sure the general public will relate to that song. The judges loved it and Simon said that she and Melinda are just in a totally different league than the rest of them.

Blake Lewis

Oh no, how is Diana going to react to Blake changin’ up her song You Keep Me Hangin’ On? First thing, Blake looked awesome tonight. I really like Blake but I think this was a little too much of a departure from the original song for me. No doubt he has a great voice but Randy was right by telling him that he didn’t have to “Blake-ize” it. Paula agreed but Simon just didn’t get it. I also agree with the judges that the Classics are the Classics and they don’t need to be changed that much, after all, they were great the way they were.

Stephanie Edwards

Diana thinks Stephanie needs to pull out a little more of the sexy in Love Hangover. Stephanie is a strong singer but I didn’t get sexy from her. It was like she was just singing the song not feeling it and she forgot some of the words! The judges really missed the climax of the song…the part where it kicks into an upbeat disco song. I wasn’t super fond of it myself.

Chris Richardson

Chris said he usually doesn’t get star struck but he got very star struck with Diana. The Boss is a work the audience song according to Diana. I didn’t like the song therefore it was hard to like Chris doing it. He was the first one on Season 6 to travel to the stage behind the judges…he does get points for that. He can do better than this performance though. Simon said, take away Chris’ charm and personality and just listen to the vocals…it was “just dreadful.”

Jordin Sparks

Diana told Jordin that she needs to project the song and to feel it. If We Hold On Together, a song featured in the movie Land Before Time, was a good song choice for Jordin. I liked the song but it did not WOW me like it apparently did the judges and I love her. Interesting. Despite its “gooeyness,” Both Randy and Simon think Jordin made this a three way race for the top tonight.

Wow guys. What did you think of the Top 12? Never have I heard so many forgotten lyrics outside of Hollywood week. They must be pretty nervous.

I was pleasantly surprised by some and a little let down by a couple others. So who is going tomorrow night? I predict it will be Brandon or Sanjaya. I sure hope it’s Sanjaya.

‘American Idol’ Top 12 shocker!

It’s the beginning of the results show and I can’t wait to see who is in the Top 12 then there’s all this filler stuff like the group song and the review of this weeks shows. Just get to it people!

Oh yeah! Lakisha and Blake are in…Chris Sligh is in…oh here’s Jordin…she’s in too! This is killing me…I’m tickled that Phil is in!

Good. Jared is out. He was never one of my favorites even though he can sing. When Ryan asks him if he’s surprised he says VERY! That’s one reason why I’m glad he’s gone.

The two ex back-up singers Brandon and Melinda are in…Chris Richardson and Gina are in…yeah, yeah, yeah…

Carrie Underwood is awesome and it’s hard to believe that Simon predicted that she would sell more records than any Idol previously had. And she’ll make that prediction come true soon enough. I loved her first album and I’m all ready for a new one.

It’s funny how different they are when the past Idols come back. If they’ve toured or cut a record there’s a polish that they never had before. Call me crazy, but I swear I see a little weariness as well. All that stardom comes at a price. Good thing most of them don’t mind.

Okay, there’s no way that Stephanie is out against Antonella. Thank God America saw it right!!!! Even Antonella sounds a little better once she’s out of the pressure cooker…oops, couple bad notes.

So far America has it right tonight. Haley or Sabrina…the first huge shocker of the evening. Haley must have had a ton of supporters. Sabrina was obviously the better of the two. To be honest, I think she was crying when she first came down because she knew how upset Haley would be but then…WOW. They showed Haley over on the side of the stage and I think she even knew it was wrong.

Here I thought there special announcement was going to be about Camp American Idol. Boy was I wrong. On Idol’s 200th episode, they announce “Idol Gives Back.” They are going to use the popularity of the show to raise millions of dollars and bring the issues of extreme poverty in Africa and America into all of our homes. Simon and Ryan have already visited Africa and the shots of them with the smiling kids were truly heartwarming. Specially the little boy shaking his booty. Simon said they met some of the nicest people he has ever met in his life that were living in the most appalling conditions he’s ever seen in his life. Randy is going to take Paula through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They will visit Louisiana and throughout the Mississippi basin and bring attention to natural disaster, illiteracy and poverty. Simon said they have all done very well with the show and he’s glad to be giving back.

On April 24 and 25 American Idol will showcase two unprecedented television events. On that Tuesday, they will be down to the top six and the theme will be inspirational songs. After the performance show we viewers will vote for our favorite contestants as usual; however, for every vote cast sponsors Coke and AT&T, along with a range of additional partners, will donate money to the charity. Ford will also contribute in connection with its weekly music video. Details will be announced soon.

The viewers at home will also be able to make donations through toll-free lines or the internet. Quincy Jones is writing a special song for the event. Borat will be making an appeal. Also participating are stars like Gwen Stephanie, Josh Grobin, Michael Buble, Pink, Annie Lennox. Bono has said “we’ll see worlds collide when Africa appears on America’s most watched television show.” He’s also called it pop history. Check out AmericanIdol.com for news and updates.

How cool is this!

Okay guys…Sanjaya cannot stay and Sundance go…but look at the last decision to keep Haley…and then they make us wait through a commercial! And no way…Sanjaya is in the top 12. I know Sundance has been iffy a couple weeks but he’s got so much more potential than the other kid. Sanjaya must have the same little kid and grandma crowd voting for him like Chicken Little did last year. Please someone give the tender hearted Sundance a job!

Okay, so Haley and Sanjaya will be the first the go and the right top 10 will tour…right? Please say right because only the top 10 tour and I’ll be mad if I have to watch either one of them. They both seem sweet but they can’t sing!

Wow. Now the real competition begins! What do you think? Do you dare predict the final six? Final four? Final two? Here’s my picks: Final six will be LaKisha, Melinda, Blake, Jordin, Chris Sligh, and the 6th one is tough. Could be Chris Richardson or Sabrina.

Final four: LaKisha, Melinda, Jordin and Blake.

Final two: LaKisha and Melinda

Winner: Who knows at this point, I keep changing my mind.

Some amazing women on American Idol tonight!

Wow, oh wow. So much better than the guys. Wonder what the chance of the final four being all women? Do you think it’s possble?

Jordin Sparks Jordin starts the evening off with some high energy Pat Benatar singing Heartbreaker. Not too many folks could do as well even though she was a bit pitchy in parts. Overall she’s just awesome and I would love to see her go really far.

Sabrina Sloan I hope Sabrina makes it into the Top 12 because I can’t wait to see what the stylists do with that ringlet hair! All you see is hair and she’s so gorgeous I would like to see her face. Now, it is about singing isn’t it? Sabrina performs En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go and does it well. Not outrageously spectacular, but there’s no doubt she’s better than most of the guys. She’s just got some steep competition with the girls.

Antonella Barba When I heard that Antonella was going to sing Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae I was tempted to hit mute. Corinne has such a unique voice and overall happiness and enthusiasm that just surround her that Antonella shouldn’t even attempt the song. Trying to be objective, which is hard for me with her, she wasn’t the worst I’ve heard and she is better than some of the guys, but she still needs to leave. Simon is right. She’s gone as far as she can go.

Haley Scarnato You can tell by Haley’s expression that she feels If My Heart Had Wings by Faith Hill. I think the song was just a little bit bigger than she is. Her voice just needs to be bolder and bigger. She looked gorgeous but I fear tonight’s her last night.

Stephanie Edwards Now this little girl has a big voice. Big enough for Chaka Khan’s Sweet Thing. Not my favorite Chaka song but I think Stephanie did well, despite a rotten note near the end.

LaKisha Jones LaKisha and Melinda are the only ones that I think can do justice to a Whitney Houston song. I Have Nothing was a great song choice for her. It was only the second time this season I actually got the chills. So I had to run it back and watch again. Chills! She has Randy’s “YO” factor and Simon was absolutely right…she looked gorgeous. I just love LaKisha!

Gina Glocksen I just love Gina too. She brought the edgy back like Simon requested last week and I am a big fan of Amy Lee & Evanescence’s Call Me When You’re Sober. To be objective, or at least to try to be, she did struggle with some of the higher notes but I sincerely hope she makes it to the Top 12. If she doesn’t and Antonella does, I may be tempted to…well I could…oh hell, I don’t know what I would do but there would most likely be screaming!

Melinda Doolittle Oh, oh, oh, more chills! Another star performance by Melinda. And I do mean performance. She is certainly learning the finer points of bringing the crowd and even the band into her song. Singing Peggy Lee’s I’m a Woman was an example of a perfect song choice for her. I know there is some kind of competition with LaKisha for top of the heap status, but I love them both! How does one even try to choose?

Leaving tomorrow night should be Antonella and Haley. I will not consider another alternative. Oh my goodness, how am I going to be able to concentrate until the results show tomorrow night?

It’s time for the Online Idols finals! While you sit on the phone dialing and redialing, go online on DaytonDailyNews.com and vote for your favorite local performer!

Disappointing guys tonight on ‘American Idol’

So let’s see how the guys do tonight? Are they going to be as good as last week or will they loose momentum again!

Blake Lewis Blake definitely brought out the beat boxing with All Mixed Up by 311, but I had never heard the song before and it didn’t really pull me in. It was okay but I was disappointed he didn’t blow me away tonight.

Sanjaya Singing John Mayer’s Waiting on the World to Change is a straight haired Sanjaya. It was better than last week but he’s just so…so….tame. I’m not sure that’s the right word but boring is just not quite blah enough. Go home little boy; you are out of your league. America, don’t vote for this kid!

Sundance Okay, what’s with the guys again tonight? Sundance sang Pearl Jam’s Jeremy and I didn’t care for the song and I didn’t care for his version of it. It was pitchy and I wanted the Sundance from last week back.

Chris Richardson Man I hope Chris is better than the others tonight. He certainly chose a great song with Keith Urban’s Tonight I Wanna Cry. I really like Chris but I’m not sure this was the best song choice but it did get better towards the end. He started off kind of rough. I love the Keith Urban version so whoever sang it was going to have to knock it out of the park. Chris didn’t do that.

Jared Cotter Jared has a nice voice and Stevie Wonder’s If You Really Love Me is a fun song with just enough romance to really show off his versatility. But I’ll tell you what; Elliot Yamin did a much better job last year. His emotion is kind of fake and he just doesn’t move me.

Brandon Rogers I have got to say that it surprised me that Brandon is a classical piano player. But as Simon is so fond of saying, this is a singing competition. Rare Earth’s I Just Want to Celebrate was another fun song and Brandon is at least real when he sings unlike Jared. I thought this was a pretty good performance for him. Again, just didn’t overwhelm me.

Phil Stacey Phil has the most incredible blue eyes! I was surprised he chose LeAnn Rimes’ I Need You for his song. I think I know why…romantic and unexpected. But he just didn’t pull it off. Darn it. I like Phil and I would love to look at his eyes a while longer but I fear he may go this week.

Chris Sligh The moment Chris opened his mouth I knew it would be my favorite performance of the evening. He did a DC Talk song, Wanna Be Loved and it was a perfect song choice for him. That white boy has some soul and rhythm! The judges didn’t really like it. I don’t really get that because it was the best of the night.

Oh my goodness, who goes of the guys this week. Who I think should go is Sanjaya and Jared but I think who will go is Phil and Sanjaya.

It’s the final of our Online Idol contest so you have to vote! Check out the top two vote getters of Dayton Daily News users and then tell us who is best!

Is Hugh Hefner Too Old for a reality TV show?

I’m not sure about you, but I have to question the idea of Hugh Hefner on a reality TV show. It’s sort of like imagining your grand father with the “The Girls Next Door.”

If I’ve done the math correctly Hugh will turn 81 in April and It would seem he should be slowing down just a tad. Sure, if he’s still got the charisma and whatever else (the little blue pill perhaps) it is that has been attracting women to him like bees to honey, then go for it… I just don’t think it should be taking up space on the TV.

The Web site for the show says it is in its third season, I can’t imagine how I missed the other two seasons.

hefbunnies.jpg

Tonight (Mar 4) episode is called, “Mutiny on the Booty” where the girls (Their word not mine) design their own photo shoots for a Playboy pictorial. Since it is rated TV-14 I’m pretty sure the booty will remain covered at all times… or at least the Hef’s booty.

What do you think? Is the Hef too old for all this?

Donald Trump says Howard K Stern is “really bad news”

As the world watched Anna Nicole being laid to rest, Donald Trump felt it necessary to weigh in on the situation.

On the IMUS in the Morning Show on MSNBC Friday (Mar 2), Imus was interviewing the Donald and here was his reaction to Howard K Stern:

“This Howard K Sterns is bad news. He’s like a looser hanger on and he was never going to get anything like that - and he would just never let anyone in. And I just I just think there’s something more to him than meets the eye. But I think he is really bad news.

Yeah, and this guy is a total loser and I just think theres is so much more than meets the eye.

And the baby’s got about a less than a 1% chance of the being his. I don’t think there’s any chance that the baby is his in terms of did he produce that baby. And it’ll be interesting to find out. But I don’t think so. I don’t think so at all. He’s very bad.” I have the audio file but I can’t figure out how to insert here.

So, I’m guessing the fued with Donald and the rest of the world is now over and he needed to be back in a spotlight somewhere. Ratings for his reality TV show “The Apprentice” have been slipping and on a personal note, I haven’t been watching nearly as regularly as in the past.

So do you think Howard K Stern is such a bad guy?

Or is Donald really the bad guy here?

Is ‘American Idol’ fixed?

After Thursday evenings results show I momentarily questioned whether or not American Idol is fixed because I could not understand why Antonella and Sanjiya remain. One blog poster responded something like “of course it is.”

Consider me naïve, and after considerable thought, honestly I do not think it’s fixed. I think that there are official like people who closely watch these things. I remember something about a game show that was fixed in the 50s I think and it was huge news. Can you imagine what kind of reaction there would be if it came out that American Idol was?

I want to believe in the basic goodness of people and I know that this is naïve as well but for now, I choose to believe that America is choosing the results, NOT the producers of the show.

What do you believe?

Eye Candy for everyone on Reality TV

The new crop of reality TV shows hitting the airwaves is full of eye-candy for everyone. Including a new show staring Hugh Hefner and several of his playmates.

A few of the shows have already started and the balance are set to start next week. Here’s a run down of the shows:

The Agency - VH1, Sun. at 10 p.m. started FEB 20

“Infiltrating the modeling industry like no other television series has, “The Agency” takes a stark look at the men and women who search for, mold, scold and comfort raw, young beauties — all in an effort to groom the world’s most marketable people. The series is not just about glamor. It’s about the harsh realities of a business in which millions of dollars are at stake daily, and the competition for landing high-end models and campaigns can lead to both euphoric victories and bitter defeats” VH1.com

(Rating - love it!)

America’s Next Top Model 8 - The CW, Wed. 8 p.m. started FEB 28

This show is in its eighth season and is hosted by Tyra Banks. Each week 13 contestants face prodding and poking from the judges picking their look apart after photo shoots ranging from the very glamorous to high-tech to controversial assignments that are meant to replicate the real life as a top model. This all takes places in L.A. and while the women share their living quarters. This show can be quite dramatic!

(Rating - OK!)

Pussycat Dolls: The Search for the Next Doll - The CW, Tue., at 9 p.m. starting MAR 6

The hunt is on for the next Pussycat Doll. The show claims to take a behind-the-scenes look at the process of selecting the best looking, most talented singer/dancer who has what it takes to be the next Pussycat Doll

(Rating - too new to rate - should be fun!)

The Springer Hustle - VH1, Sun. at 10 starting MAR 4

Yes, Jerry Springer has his own reality show. We will now get a behind the scenes look into his reality as hosts of one of the most shocking shows on television.

(Rating - can we say drama?)

Dice Undisputed - VH1, Sun. at 10:30 p.m. starting MAR 4

The series will follow the return of the caustic comedian (Andrew Dice Clay’s) return to the world of show biz.

(Rating - pretty sure this was a bad idea for everyone!)

The Girls Next Door - E!, Sun. at 10 p.m. starting MAR 2

This one appears to be the raciest of the bunch. Here Hugh Hefner and his lady companions expose the secrets of the Playboy Mansion.

(Rating - too new to rate!)

Paradise City - E!, Sun. at 10:30 p.m. starting MAR 4

This series claims it will chronicle the lives of the people who work in “Sin City” - Vegas. Love, life and action!

(Rating - too new to rate!)

College Hill 4 - BET, Tue. at 10 p.m. starting MAR 6

The first all-black reality TV show returns for a third season. “College Hill” is a no-holds barred, uncensored look at the experiences, triumphs and growing pains of eight college co-eds”. BET.com

America got it WRONG on ‘American Idol’

What’s wrong with you people? I count myself in the you people as well. I didn’t vote last night and I should have. If there would have been more votes for some of the best maybe different people would have gone home. Man, there is one guy and one gals that stayed that shouldn’t have.

I guess that Nick didn’t have enough of something because America didn’t vote enough for him. He was actually better tonight than last night. A little more relaxed. Maybe he’s secretly glad to be going home? This is one I wish could stay. Classy move to go over and shake the hands of all the other guys. Poor Sundance. He got all teary saying goodbye. So sweet.

One of the ladies now has to go. Oh please let it be Antonella! But this time Alaina Alexander is going. She was so sweet and again so classy in her exit but she did deserve to go. This is the first time that I think I’ve seen someone not be able to do their song because they were too emotional. Frankly, I cannot believe more people don’t struggle. Poor Sundance again, he must have a tender heart crying again. I love this in a man. Pay attention guys. Some of us don’t mind a guy who is not afraid to show their tender side.

So how cute was Ryan Seacrest when he asked the buxom Kellie Pickler what she had spent her money on…and she said shoes as he’s staring at her boosted bust line. I don’t remember her being that busty before but it’s possible I guess. She certainly wasn’t my favorite last year but I’m so glad she doing well. She’ll never be Carrie Underwood successful but this is nice. However, her hair made her look like an old country star. I get that it was supposed to be retro but I thought it just made her look old. She got pretty choked up as she was singing a song that she co-wrote about the mother who walked out on her a long time ago. You go Kellie Pickler!

Oh no! A.J. Tabaldo is going home. Did you see Sanjiya’s face? He was totally surprised that he was not going home. I think A.J. was surprised too but was too much a gentleman to say so. Damn. Not that A.J. was a favorite but he was so much better than the other one. Is Sanjiaya going to be this season’s Chicken Little? Do you think the show keeps someone bad on just to drive ratings? I know this would mean it’s fixed and I guess I don’t believe they do that, but it just makes me mad.

Look at the worry on Antonella’s face. Damn! She’s still on the show. But it doesn’t surprise that Leslie is the one who is going home. But of the two of them, Antonella or Leslie, Antonella needed to go. I think Simon was disappointed too that the royal icky one didn’t go as well.

Lots of tears tonight. I guess they all probably do get close to each other during this time. First there is all that time away from family and then the contestants are all thrown in a stressful situation together. No wonder.

So four more are gone, not the right four but there gone nonetheless.

Remember, not too much longer folks and we will have our very own Idol in our Online Idol contest. Vote and be heard. These guys need your votes as much as the TV Idols.

Already can’t wait until next week. How many days before the guys again? How many days before Antonella goes home?
