Surpised? Blake & Jordin in the ‘AI’ finals!

Oh how exciting tonight is! Who will be in the finale? Jordin and Blake? Melinda and Jordin? Melinda and Blake? It’s going to drive me nuts until we know and unfortunately I fear tonight we will be blessed with lots of filler again.

A huge thank you to Ben for filling in for me last night! I did get to catch a couple songs…just enough to be completely perplexed as to who will survive in this trio.

Melinda, as Simon said, has been the most consistent of the three but I just struggle with her chances of actually becoming a real American Idol. Does this mean she shouldn’t win? No it doesn’t. Then there’s Blake. Cutie that he is, he would make an amazing American Idol but he’s so one dimensional. It’s certainly enough to make him a big star though…with or without winning. Then there is Jordin who is young and yes, needs a bit more seasoning but she too has the potential to be a big star.

In our own DDN.com Idol poll the majority of us would like Jordin to win followed by Melinda. I honestly would be happy with any of them winning at this point. Seriously.

Elliot Yamin is singing tonight which has me much more excited than Maroon 5 singing. I loved Elliot and I hope his CD will do well.

The little tease with looking like Jordin would find if she were safe was just annoying. Come on already and either tell us something or just wait until the end. This is getting old.

Okay, is the time finally here? Elliot was great, Maroon 5 was good and we’ve all sat through the teases so…

Jordin is in…and Simon looks a bit worried because we all know he wants his Melinda in the finale. Melinda is going home? Wow, this really surprises me…but then again it doesn’t. She will have an incredible career and again, it’s probably better that she didn’t win because she will have more control over her career this way.

So Jordin and Blake are it! Who do you think will win? Come on guys…walk out on a limb here and make a prediction.

I think its Jordin.

I don’t care who wins at this point (although I’d be more “content” if Jordin does). Melinda was the only one who should have won this year. Since she’s off, the “American Idol” for 2007 isn’t really THE American Idol for me.

I picked Jordin Sparks to win in the top 24. The judges didn’t seem to notice her for the longest time, but she FINALLY got a little recognition. This girl has a beautiful voice, a great personality and has “STAR” written all over her. Blake is okay, but he can’t sing to save his life. JORDIN IS OUR FAMILY’S AMERICAN IDOL!!!

I think Jordin is a better singer than Blake but I like Blake’s personality and he has something that I really like about him. I think that he could very well make it all of the way!! I can actually see Beat boxing coming back in style and I would definitely by his cd. I can also see Jordin making a cd and I would buy her cd as well, I could see a great song writer in both of them. Melinada is a good singer but very old fashioned and nut bush city limits did not compare to Tina Turners version in my opinion. I could see Melinda coming out with a cd but something with old songs and re-makes and I don’t think it will sell as good as what Jordin and Blake can bring out. Melinda also said that it was a lof of hard work and she was actually relieved when she heard the results. She is like the Taylor Hicks of last year but if she works really HARD she can make something of herself.

I think last night’s american idol was a joke, there was no one on the show who could out sing Melinda. She was robbed of the title of American Idol. She was the only one who was consistent. As far as I am concerned they have lost a fan. I will not be watching anymore.

I wasn’t completely shocked with the results last night. But, there is no reason that anyone should be upset about it. Melinda will have a career - she just needs to find her niche that people will buy into. That being said, I was hoping for a Blake/Jordin finale for a long time. I loved both of them. Blake did have a few rough weeks for me, but he’s still a good entertainer. And although Jordin may have had 1 or 2 off songs throughout the competition, she is still an incredible talent. I hope she takes it all the way.

I think it is awful and wrong that Melinda was sent home. It this a beauty pageant or popularity show? Melinda was consistent from beginning to end, and her vocals were never questionable. How can America send her home - how can they sleep at night knowing they did such an injustice to a person who put their best foot forward at all times and was so full of humility and respect. Melinda my heart goes out to you, not because you won’t get a contract, but because you deserved to be in the finals.

I’m still going to watch the show, but I’m very disappointed that Melinda is out. America really got it wrong this time!I’ll be pulling for Blake now ‘cos I just don’t like Jordin.

Melinda will do just fine. Yes, she’s absolutely the best vocalist and by far my favorite, but she really doesn’t fit the “American Idol” image. I’m just glad she got as far as she did, and I’ll buy whatever she records. I think Jordin will win, but I disagree with the thought that Blake is one-dimensional. I believe he’s versatile, creative and relevant to today’s music. Let’s be honest — he’d wipe up the floor with Taylor.

Kelle, Kelle, This is just an FYI —- not a posted comment. You have a typo in your headline —- surpised… Thot you’d want to correct it.

the top three runner up are where they should be. like others said at least the final two are worthy……just still can’t belive melinda is gone… but they are very worthy this year. You sure could tell on simon’s face..that he was totally shocked. like others said she may not have been as popular but she was on key and consit from the start…i think america got this one wrong, but like i said before blake and jordan is in the tops of what they do to. will look for the three of them to be on the charts cause they are all worthy of it. in the end it will probalbly be jordan or blake.. but whos to say. this week was a total shocker….. best of luck to jordan and blake….. melinda hang in there and don’t give up you kick girl and are wanderful……..

Remember Carrie Underwood, who was able to carry the tunes perfect? We have a baby American Idol who gigled at being a failure to carry a rock tune, and then expected to be the next AI. Come on - what does she have against the other real idols out there - Beyonce, Shakira, Aguilera and Spears? Nothing. With Melinda out, I am not watching AI anymore. It ends this evening.

Well, yah - it’s a popularity contest! When you put it out for a vote to the public, that is what it becomes. They don’t leave America’s Next Top Model up to a vote - a panel of professionals decides who has the best potential based on ALL factors. And the Idol does need to be marketable. I’ve been saying all along that Melinda’s performing bores me, and obviously I’m not alone. What I can say is that she sings the right notes - but that is not enough - you need to be a total package capable of entertaining people. I think we have a poor lot to choose from this year. I loved seeing Elliot - I need to get his CD. It brought home to me that any of last year’s top 4 could bury any of this year’s contestants in my opinion. Jordin or Blake? I’m routing for Jordin because I find her the lesser of 2 so-called evils, but I will have no interest in seeing her or buying her records. This season has lost its magic and been ground under the hyped up publicity scene. I watched some of the old seasons on Rewind - what a change. Now the show just feels like one long commercial of self promotion. The random stars performing feels ridiculous. Imagine - the contestants used to actually be the ones performing numbers together!

Everyone knows that it doesn’t matter if you get 5th place…you still become famous and get a record. Compare Reuben and Clay, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia….it doesn’t really matter anymore. Kelly and Carrie are the only real “winners” that have stood out….

I personally do not care who wins now. Jordin and Blake are interchangable in my book. Yes, they both have talent and appeal. But the hands down BEST singer of the show ( possibly the best from any AI) was Melinda. She never hit a bad note. Always pitch perfect, always professional. Yes, she stumbled her words slightly on ‘I’m a Woman’..But being the pro she is, she did not let it get to her. She ended with a strong performance. Every week was just as good and I am certain she will have a great career. For me, the season ended last night….

The problem with AI is that, as the end approaches, it becomes less of a singing competition and more of a popularity contest decided by how many times a singer can get his/her fans to vote. Melinda, arguably the best singer, was not someone who generated any heat. Now, she’s history. As people are voted off the show, their fans find someone else to vote for. The question then becomes, where will Melinda’s voters go. Next week’s competition is irrelevant. Jordin will likely pick up the lion’s share of Melinda’s voters and win.

I am torn now I really like Blake but Jordin is the better singer, either way I am just happy that there are two in the end that would really fit the part of American Idol, unlike the past years when the winner sucked and the runner up was better, atleast this year u have two people who are worthy of the title!

I had a feeling Melinda was going to go home tonight. Great singer, but no “wow” factor for me. Between Blake and Jordin, I could see either winning and doing great. It’s a tough call. I guess I’m looking for the person who captivates me. Not many of the contestants have done that for me this season. But, then again, I compare most of the contestants to Carrie Underwood and how she performed when she was on that stage. Is that unfair? Maybe, but that’s what the show is all about.
