The real Simon is back
I knew the Simon we’d seen in last week’s show would eventually be replaced with the Simon many of the American Idol fans have come to loathe over the last six seasons.
Tonight’s (Jan 22) shorter format was not only more enjoyable but made me look forward to tomorrow’s one-hour show.
There were two standouts in tonight’s performances David Archuleta and Carly Smithson. Not only can the two sing but their personal stories of triumph weren’t as sappy as the producers could have been portrayed them to be - letting their talent come through in the audition.
Thoughts about tonights auditions? Share ‘em here. Till tomorrow.
P.S. - Why Isn’t Fox updating the Web site with the winners from each audition? I’d like to know who the top 50 are and if there really is a Dayton Connection.

In fact, David Archuleta sounded so good he could’ve won “Star Search.” OH, wait a minute, he did… Carly’s a plant too by the way.

Most couldn’t care less about the sappy stories. In the words of Simon Cowell, “It’s a singing competition”. Leave the sob stories to Dr. Phil.

I am not sold on David just yet. The story was good, but I think he might only be able to sing one type of song. Carly’s story and voice both were good.
