‘American Idol’ - Do you agree with America?
Week two is finished and America has voted. But, do you agree?
The voting is complete and the first to go home is…
Jason Yeager - He thought he was going to be in the bottom rung and he was. His best advice - he thought he put it all out for America. Simon tells Jason he doesn’t stand out in the crowd.
Next up the ladies…
Alexandrea Lushington - the judges tell her she’s got great skills - but it just wasn’t her song.
Next out - Alaina Whitaker - Paula tells the grief stricken outcast she is “promising and we love you.” The ladies of Idol help the newly off’d contestant through the exit song. I have to say - for so early in the competition - this offing seemed more dramatic than it might have needed to be…
The final Idol send off is..
Robbie Carrico - I agree. Simon tells this former contestant - “never ever felt real.” Perhaps it was his hair that wasn’t real and caused his downfall. I really have to wander if it is real - it seems to be changing texture and color each time we see him - so perhaps America didn’t want their next Idol to have bad hair.
So, did America choose the right four?

Did someone drug Britney Spears?
According to various reports, Britney Spear’s family thinks someone was drugging their daughter and they think they know who it was.
In recent weeks, Britney’s family has stepped in to help rescue the pop-diva/reality star from herself. Jamie Lynn Spears is allegedly convinced it was Sam Lutfi, Britiney’s friend and sometimes manager that was responsible for Britney’s downward spiral. These allegations led the family to seek a restraining order against Lutfi earlier this month
The LAPD has released the following statement.
“The issues regarding Britney Spears are being considered by the department to determine if laws have been violated. Particular suspects have not yet been fully identified nor has a formal investigation into open charges officially commenced. At this time we don’t know whether or not a formal investigation will be initiated.”
What do you think… could someone have been drugging Britney all along?

Project Runway 4 Finale pt 1 Chris or Rami?
In last night’s (Feb 28) Project Runway Finale pt.1, the final three designers are revealed. But are the right three from this season?
I thought Rami’s designs were strong, appealing and wearable (not by me). But, what about Chris’s unusual combination of human hair and safety pin creations? Very dark and very innovative - yes a little creepy. But if you think about it, how is wearing hair on your clothes any different than wearing hair extensions?
Chris’s designs always seemed to have elements that were too costumey - but isn’t that what we see on many of the fashion runways around the world - fantasy.
Rami is talented too. Throughout the season, Rami knows how to drape fabric, but his designs were always safe and relatively boring.
Do you think the judges make a mistake picking Rami? Any favorites for the Finale?

TWDKAY She has done a lot of commercials in Miami
My Take - she always seems to be acting to me..

TWDKAY - She was a poster child for the fire department.
My Take - I don’t this was a good song for her talents… seemed a little hotel bar.
Randy - It was so safe for you. You should never make safe choices.
Paula - You did let go and you did stretch it. You’re relevant.
Simon - I was a big, big fan in the early competition. You were inconsistent with the song - it was boring.
Kady Malloy
Tonight’s song - ‘Magic Man’ - Heart
TWDKAY - She loves to sing opera in the bathroom.
My Take - What’s up with the sound mixing… all I could hear was the band.
Randy - You just never quite found the pitch.
Paula - When you powered you sounded great.
Simon - I’m struggling as much as you’re struggling.
Asia’h Epperson
Tonight’s song - ‘All By Myself Lyrics’ - Eric Carmen
TWDKAY - She was a cheerleader in high school.
My Take - Very rough beginning… this wasn’t her best - by far.
Randy - You did a nice job with that.
Paula - It was great.
Simon - It is one of the diva songs of all time and you have got to be one heck of singer to pull that off and unfortunately you’re not. You almost got away with it.
Despite the fact that everyone had pretty much recovered it was a rough night for the girls.
The biggest disappointment of the night was Amanda Overmyer, I love her, so it was hard to see her do so badly.
I’m guessing it will be Kady and Ramiele. Thoughts anyone.

American Idol - Week 2 - Guys’ Night Recap
Ryan Seacrest asked the judges for their advice before tonight’s (FEB 26) show gets underway. Randy tells the contestants to be, “in it to win it.” Paula says, “it will be better this week.” Last, but not least, Simon says, “be better.’
The song genre for this week is the 1970s. We’ll see what the producers choose for the contestants to sing. Hopefully they’ll choose a little better than last week.
Michael Johns
My Take - Seemed pretty uncomfortable tonight - and out of key
Randy - I liked it.
Paula - Great way to start the show
Simon - It’s was okay… it was coasting along or something like that.
Jason Castro
My Take - Like this version of his song.. strong opening a little weaker near the end.
Randy - “Sounded a little karaoke.”
Paula - “next week, let’s see you without the gutair.”
Simon - “I thought the sonf was horrible… it didn’t go together this week. You choose a schmultzy type of song.”
Luke Menard
My Take - I didn’t care for the ending… it seemed to weaken the song.
Randy - You chose a very, very tough song. That was pretty good.
Paula - It was great for you vocally.
Simon - That performance was a mistake. It verged on whiney.
Robbie Carrico
My Take - What is up with his hair - he should talk with Garrett Haley. Seems like the producers picked a song that worked for him.
Randy - I kinda agree with Simon… I don’t know if you have the rock voice.
Paula - You played it a little bit safe.
Simon - The vocal was okay tonight.
Danny Noriega
My Take - Not a good song for him… but did an okay job.
Randy - You’ve got a good voice - let it go.
Paula - You can’t over think the song.
Simon - This was better - wasn’t a fantastic vocal. You stand out in a crowd.
David Hernandez
My Take - WOW - that was the best of the night.
Randy - Check this out! - This is the David Hernandez we fell in love with. That was hot right there.
Paula - Your voice is so pure. Your personality really came out this week.
Simon - In my opinion, that was the best vocal of the night so far. You’ve risen to the challenge.
Jason Yeager
My Take - When he first started … I didn’t think I would like it… but I did!
Randy - That wasn’t a singer’s kinda song.
Paula - The song didn’t have a lot of notes.
Simon - This week was awkward and ordinary… It was like you were drunk at a party.
Chikezie
My Take - This song was fun… not the best… but he had fun.
Randy - Chikezie is back America. This is the guy we fell in love with.
Paula - Very clever… it was fun.
Simon - You look better, you sounded better - a million times better than last time.
David Cook
My Take - Second best of the night.
Randy - I love the throwing the picks into the crowd. Cool for you.
Paula - You are the real deal. Smart, fun, relevant.
Simon - It was solid. You don’t have a lot of charisma.
David Archuleta
My Take - Once again… WOW - he clearly knocked this one out of the park!
Randy - Dawg - that was one of the best vocals I’ve ever heard on this show.
Paula - I want to dangle you from my rear-view mirror… One of the most moving performances I’ve ever heard. You’re destined for stardom.
Simon - It worked. You are the one to beat!
The guyz show ended on a really high note. Thoughts anyone?

Elida’s Idol castoff dishes about American Idol, hair and more
Garrett Haley is popping up everywhere.
In a recent interview on MTV the Elida, Ohio, teen dishes on everything from shampoo to Neil Sedaka.
Haley claims he ” had never heard Neil Sedaka’s ‘Breaking Up Is Hard to Do’ before this week and that the tune wasn’t even in his top three choices of ’60s songs.” Haley and several others have been talking this week about the Idol process, a rare departure from Idol’s tight reign on the contestants. When asked about his 60s song choice Haley said,
I didn’t really get to choose it. We’re allowed to choose three songs from a list. Every contestant is for sure to get one of the songs, and I didn’t get to get any of my songs because they gave the songs out to all the contestants before that. So I just ended up with having to choose from the list again. And I didn’t really get to choose, they just threw the song at me and said, “Here, sing this one.” [He laughs.] And I was like, “OK.” It was a total surprise to me, but I took what I got, and I did what I could do with it.
Before the audition Haley hadn’t heard of his 70s look-a-like celebrities, Leif Garrett or Peter Frampton. So, he “Googled them.” To keep his locks in a teenage heart-throb ready state Haley said, “I use Garnier Fructis, and I’ve been using that for a long time.”
During the first night of the performances, Simon told Haley he looked too pale. Haley said his lack of color, “It possibly could’ve [affected how people voted for me], but I don’t know what’s going on inside the voters’ heads.”
All in all, the Elida teen seems ready to get back to his life in Ohio.

Wacky penalty sends 2 Big Brother contestants to hospital
Usually, it’s the other contestants that send the contestants packing from the Big Brother house - but, this time it was the food.
The New York Daily news and others are reporting that Amanda Hansen and Natalie Cunial were each rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after being served slop.
In a recent challenge, the losing team was forced to eat a, “food mixture that supposedly is packed with nutrients,” that allegedly caused Hansen to go into seizure and Cunial’s lips to swell.
TVweek.com was reporting the food mixture contained, “natural oats, proprietary blend of whey protein concentrate, soy protein isolate, wheat protein isolate, milk protein isolate, natural and artificial flavors, vitamins and minerals - vitamin A palmitate, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, cyanocobalamin, vitamin D3, alpha tocopherol, niacin, biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, manganese sulfate, ferrous sulfate, folic acid, potassium iodide - cellulose gum, salt and acesulfame potassium.”
This season of CBS’ Big Brother’ franchise is called, ‘Til Death Do You Part,’ and features ’ couples who were matched based upon a personality profile and will compete as couples throughout the competition. This is not the first moment of controversy for the season. Lowe’s recently pulled advertising from the show after a cast member suggested autistic children were “retards”.
Warning - video not for everyone… view with caution. (mostly sound) The usually live feeds went blank shortly after the event started.

‘American Idol’ - Did the Ohio teen make it through for another week?
28 million votes later, America has spoken and the round one results are just around the corner… but who will America send home?
Simon says, “some people were good and some people weren’t.” Profound words to set the show a sail.
What a kick! I loved the opening number. What a great way to put all this talent together. I wish they would have put part of this into the first nights’ performances. It also seems they may have done something with the sound… it was mixed so much better than the last two nights performances.
So who will be heading home?
For the guys…
Garrett Haley, Ohio’s contestant, was the first to be sent home for season 7. Tuesday night’s performance was a little weak. So, it doesn’t come as a big surprise Garrett went home… great try Garrett!
Next out for girls is…
Amy Davis. Her performance tonight (FEB 21) and last night was weak and was a good choice to send home.
In an unexpected twist - Paula and Randy preview their upcoming album - “Dance like there’s no tomorrow.” Paula looks amazing!
Back to the show.
Joanne Borgella, I’m not sure I would have sent her home of all of the choices… I thought she did a little better than several of the other girls. But, America has voted.
Finally, the guys.
Colton Berry, is the final contestant to go for the night. Despite Simon’s thoughts, Randy and Paula tried to encourage Colton to keep up singing. Simon told Colton on audition night of his performance, “It was okay it wasn’t quite as bad as the other Elvis song. You have no relevance in the music industry.”
So the question for tonight, Did America send the right four home? Thoughts anyone?

‘Project Runway’ Reunion Recap - Season 4
What we learned tonight (FEB 20) on the Project Runway 4 Reunion show.
Victorya had a show for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. (was it me or did she really not want to be on the reunion show?)
The paparazzi love sweet pea even when Brad Pitt is nearby.
Little girls send their scans to the designers for approval and suggestions.
Victorya is always uptight. Everyone agreed.
The three questions Jack gets asked about PR: Is Tim really that nice? Is Heidi really that Pretty? Are you coming back for next season? - Yes, Yes, and maybe.
Kevin, claims to be straight…even after the show. Tim added, “If being on Project Runway doesn’t turn you gay, nothing will.”
Alyissa is from a happy planet. She also writes backward.
Ricky - likes to cry… I think we might have already known that…
Chris, loves to laugh. When the show was airing I didn’t really notice all the laughing but during the recap show - oh what we missed.
I knew the judges had to laugh at some of the runway challenges. Tonight we learned they did! That might have been my favorite part of the whole season!
The six designers who participated in the WWE Challenge tapped into their personal Divas to create:
Ferocia Coutura -signature move - hairspray in the eyes then a tight pony tail
Tuffie - signature move - Pirouette into a kick
Wonder Woman -signature move- something people with large breast
Ramilicious - Draped piece of fabric wrapped around his arms
Spread Eagle - headlock and break their neck.
Mexican Jumping bean - twirl and a kick.
Who is the toughest judge ?- Heidi - she says what she thinks.
Heidi likes to dangle the sausage.
The show (Project Runway) is not as easy as it seems.
So, who was this season’s fan favorite?
By a landslide… the answer is…
Christian… and I thought it would have been Jack.
What do you love/loathe about this season of Project Runway?

Josiah Leming, American Idol castoff, doing well on his own
For a guy who has been living in his car, all for the sake of music, being castoff by ‘American Idol’ could have sent him into a downward spiral. But, the tear at the drop of disappointment twenty something is making it big as a Idol reject.
Leming appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show on Monday (Feb 18) where he preformed one of his more moving melodies, ‘To Run.’
All in all, pretty good for an Idol castoff!

‘American Idol’ It’s all about girl power! Show recap
Ryan tells us the flu hit the American Idol contestants. But, the show must go on.
I’m not sure if it was the flu or what but the energy level for the whole show seemed a little subdued. Nonetheless, here we go.
In order of appearance tonight (Feb 20); Kristy Lee Cook, 24 - Selma, OR
My Take - Okay performance… a little lifeless though (oh… she’s got the flu.)
Randy - “It wasn’t your best performance. It was a little rough around the edges”
Paula - “Being sick and being the first one is a double whammy.”
Simon - “The song didn’t suit you. Your performance was robotic.”
Joanne Borgella, 25 - Hoboken, NJ
My Take - Struggled a little - or was it the arrangement of the song? Certainly finished strong though!
Randy - “That was pretty good - it felt a little unsure.”
Paula - “Pull it together and enjoy it.”
Simon - “I didn’t like it at all. It was very-very sub-standard.”
Alania Whitaker , 16 - Tulsa, OK
My Take - Best of the night so far. I thought she had great energy and stage presence.
Randy - “It was like goin’ on.”
Paula - “You nailed it.!
Simon - “I think you’re very good.”
Amanda Overmyer, 23 - Mulberry, IN
My Take - Great energy! Great show!
Randy - “Bluesy - rocky - chick. I like it.”
Paula - ” I just love everything you do. You’re the real deal.”
Simon - “i really like you. I genuinely think you are authentic.”
Amy Davis, 25 - Lowell, IN
My Take - Not as good as the auditions… perhaps she has the flu too - finished strongly though.
Randy - “A lot of pitch problems.”
Paula - “The camera loves you.’
Simon - “You look great but you didn’t sound great. It became really, really dull.”
Brooke White, 24, Mesa, AZ
My Take - She didn’t seem to hit her full range in the beginning - got better as the song went along.
Randy - “You are supposed to singing the living daylights out of it.”
Paula - “You have your own thing. I think you did a great job.”
Simon - “it was very you… but I am struggling a little.”
Alexandrea Lushington, 17 - Douglasville, GA
My Take - First singer of the night to make the song her own as well as to show us her range. She’ll make it through.
Randy - “I gotta say it again, it’s about being young. You got it!”
Paula - “You thought about your performance from top to bottom.”
Simon - “I didn’t get it. Reminded me of a 1960’s musical.”
Kady Malloy , 18 - Houston, TX
My Take - It would have been great if the song could have pick-up the pace along the way. A remix.
Randy - “Okay for me… constrained and controlled.”
Paula - “We want to see the fun Kady.”
Simon - ” Amazingly, for once, I agree with Paula. That was like night of the living dead.”
Asiah Epperson, 19 - Joplin, MO
My Take - she has a great salutary voice although I thought her performance was a little fake - maybe she was just trying too hard.
Randy - “You did your thing with that.”
Paula - “You had some good moments.”
Simon - “It was my favorite of the night.”
Ramiele Malubay, 20 - Miramar, FL
My Take - What a voice! My favorite for the night, so far.
Randy - “Very Classy… almost like a pro.”
Paula - “You are a force to be reckoned with.”
Simon - “You out-sung every single contestant.”
Syesha Mercado, 21, Sarasota, FL
My Take - I didn’t get the song… or maybe it was her style with the song… or something wasn’t working for me - but what do I know.
Randy - “Not my favorite performance.”
Paula - “Fun. Big.”
Simon - “You are probably one of the most talented girls of this competition.’
Carly Smithson, 23 - San Diego, CA
My Take - Very strong performance… I thought it was the best of the night.
Randy - “That is what the show is all about. best vocal of the top 24.”
Paula - “Beautiful inflections.”
Simon - “I didn’t get it… Way to old-fashioned. Everything for me was a let down.”
Tonight’s outing was a little lack luster… perhaps it was the flu bug… whatever it was I’m hoping for more excitement next week. After saying that, I have to question the choice of songs and perhaps even the mixing. the vocals seemed to be covered up a little too much for my liking.
Did you have a favorite?

‘Project Runway’ reunion show - Who will be fan favorite?
Tonight (Feb 20) Bravo TV airs one of my least favorite shows of the ‘Project Runway’ season, the reunion show.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the reunion idea. But, I’d rather wait until the season is over and the winner is announced to see a reunion show. The placement of the show always makes me think that Bravo is just dragging out the season to keep eyeballs on their channel.
While much of the show is likely to be centered around someone who was kicked auf’d the show earlier in the season there is the revealing of the fan favorite. My money is on Jack… how could it be anyone else?
The show airs tonight (Feb 20) at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
Thoughts on the fan favorite?

‘American Idol’ Guys take the stage
As the show gets under way - Ryan keeps telling us this is the best/most talented group to hit the stage. Whether they have what it takes to win the title - the judges (you) have yet to weigh in.
Before the night gets underway… The judges give some advice… Randy Jackson tells the guys to “keep it real.” Paula Abdul tells the contestants to, “have a blast.” Simon Cowell’s advice. “you’ve got to sing well.”
In order of appearance: Dave Hernandez, 24 - Glendale, Az My Take - Solid performance - seemed really nervous. Randy - “fell a little apart in the end.” Paula - “you’ve got brilliant vocals.” Simon - “better than I thought it would be.” Your thoughts?
Chikezie, 22 - Ingelwood, CA - Learning from his previous auditions - Chikezie “worked hard and came back more than ready.” My Take - had great stage presence - beginning was a little rough. Did anyone here the Love Boat song at the end. Randy - “an old-fashioned singer.” Paula - “You’ve come a long way. ” Simon - “I hated the whole performance. Corny - Chikezie it could have been something we filmed 40 years ago.
David Cook, 25 - Blue Springs, M0 My Take - Certainly better than I could have done… was it me or was it just a little flat. Maybe I’m just channeling the Partridge Family. Randy - “it was crazy.” Paula - “it was a but worthy.” Simon - “I thought you shouted the sound in the middle. You almost made it believable.”
Jason Yeager, 28 - Grand Prairie, TX My Take - Nice Range - almost lost it in the middle. Randy - “don’t lose your concentration” Paula - “I did my first ballet recital to that song” Simon - “I bought my first puppy to that song. Very cruise ship that whole performance. You are like a dependable old dog.”
Robbie Carrico, 26 - Melbourne, Fl - The Britney connection My Take - not wild about his get-up(seems like a costume) - but a solid go nonetheless. Randy - “Nice one. Nice Version.” Paula - “I think you picked the perfect song for you.” Simon - “The only performance we’ve seen tonight that… makes sense.”
David Archuleta, 17 - Murray, UT My Take - What a voice for a 17 year-old! Are we sure he’s only 17? Randy - “you’re just born with this gift.” Paula - “bold choice of song for you. Unbelievable - confident older soul.” Simon - “best performance of the night so far. “
Danny Noriega, 18 - Azusa, CA My Take - Such a big voice for this little guy… nice job Randy - “You know how to have a good time. it was kinda hot” Paula - “you have one of the most amazing vocals. This was a safer song…” Simon - “I thought the performance was verging on grotesque. “
Danny’s performance brought out the most banter from the judges - it was almost uncomfortable.
Luke Menard, 29 - Crawsfordsville, IN My Take - The sound didn’t sound like it was mixed well… that’s not to say this was a great performance - it was just hard to hear over the band/track. Randy - “It was almost consistently sharp - it wasn’t great for me.” Paula - “You’re range is unbelievable. ” Simon - “It was forgettable. “
Colton Berry, 17 - Staunton, VA My Take - great performance - it was just hard to hear over the band/track. Randy - “you did a pretty good job. ” Paula - “It was nice to see a different side of you. ” Simon - “It was okay… it wasn’t quite as bad as the other Elvis song. You have no relevance in the music industry.”
Colton Berry, 17 - Staunton, VA My Take - he seemed to struggle/never hit is groove through the while song. Randy - “you did a pretty good job. ” Paula - “It was nice to see a different side of you. ” Simon - “It was okay… it wasn’t quite as bad as the other Elvis song. You have no relevance in the music industry.”
Garrett Haley, 17 - Elida, OH My Take - He gave it a solid shot Randy - “Don’t be afraid to make this song your own. Kinda of boring.” Paula - “Don’t be afriad” Simon - “It was boring. You look terrified. It looks like you have been shut-up in your bedroom for a month.”
Is it just me or does anyone else think Garrett Haley looks like Leif Garrett? I know they talked about this tonight on the show but, I’ve been thinking this since the first time I saw his audition photos.
Jason Castro, 20 - Rockwell, TX My Take - Made this song his own… ended kinda weak… Randy - “A little pitch problems.” Paula - “You got me hooked back into you.” Simon - “In the top two performances of the night. you’ve got it.”
Michael Johns, 29 - Buckhead, GA My Take - This guy took a classic and made it his own. Randy - “you just throw all caution to the wind. ” Paula - “It was an excellent way to end the night.” Simon - “You are the most consistent contestant we’ve had. You have the natural charisma of a lead singer.”
So, after night one for the guys - who do you think will make it through to the next round? My favorites were David Archuleta, Danny and Michael.

Can Heidi save Britney? What is she thinking?
First, it was Dr. Phil now, Heidi Klum. I could see this scheme working if she was offering to do a makeover or were to give some fashion advice. But, helping Britney through rehab?
I’m guessing super-model and reality TV host Heidi Klum has seen a few cat fights in her day and has now decided she has what it takes to help Britney through her moment of crisis?
Sure, the super-model and host of Bravo’s Project Runway is a straight talker, but Britney? Really? I’m pretty sure she’s out of her league.
The AP is reporting Klum said of Britney, “I would help set her straight. I am sorry when a young person gets thrown so off track.”
These quotes were taken from a transcript for a program that is set tomorrow on ARD (Germany).
The recent news on the Britney front appears to have her family fighting for control of the former reality TV/pop diva’s fortune… but perhaps that is what it will take to help Britney get a grip.
Is Heidi really up for the job… why would you bring into your home?

‘American Idol’s’ Josiah talks about his experience
Many of the reality TV shows have disclaimers near the end each show that mentions the producers have the final say about who stays and goes. It has always appeared this has been done to help keep the drama level going full speed ahead.
Perhaps, not for the sake of drama but, rather for the sake of extending the weepy moments to the max the producers of American Idol gave a lot of air time to Josiah Leming only to send him packing.
In an interview with Access Hollywood the rejected idol contestant said, ;
“My belief is that they were trying to make me look bad. They were trying to make me look like a crybaby and then trying to make me look like I was overconfident - but I’m thankful. If I could see them right now, I would give them the biggest hug ever because they have launched my career.”
Luckily for the Josiah, he didn’t go on to the finals and was only required to keep his “mouth shut” until the top 24 show aired.
All the attention has been good for Josiah. His album is currently available for purchase online on his myspace page. Access Hollywood is reporting the teen has sold more than 1,000 albums.
This teen clearly made a mistake in the auditions by sending the band away. Josiah is talented and despite not being selected for Idol, it appears he’s on his way!

Local ‘American Idol’ contestant talks
The local ‘American Idol’ contestant shared her experience on the local Fox affiliate last night (Feb. 13).
Unlike some of the stories we hear about high school students, Mia Coleman’s, a Wayne High School senior, story is a good one. Coleman appears to be an outstanding student who is “involved in everything.” Coleman tells the Fox 45 reporter that her goal is to have a career in singing to “inspire people” and “to sing and reach out to people.”
Coleman said it was her “dad (who) actually wanted her to audition for American Idol.”
“I never really watched it and I really was never into it,” she continued.
Some of Coleman’s teachers at Wayne High School called the teen, ” a lovely student,” and “an all-around high achiever.”
“We were all taken by her voice,” Coleman’s principal swooned.
In the interview that aired after the show, Coleman said she started singing in about the sixth grade. She went on to say Simon was actually nice to her - the other two were on the fence for her.
Coleman said she’s looking to get more experience under her belt and then maybe go back (to Idol) and try again. Her plans after graduation include college, where she hopes to major in vocal performance.
I say congrats Mia!

Did anyone see the local American Idol contestants?
Ohio may be home to two of the American Idol contestants this season although both were missing from last night’s (FEB 12) show.
Mia Coleman and Garrett Haley are both listed on the American Idol Web site as being in the top 50 - but try as I might - I didn’t catch a glimpse of either local contestants.
If some of the spoiler forums are correct, it doesn’t look promising for one of the contestants moving beyond the top 50.
Did anyone see them on last night’s show? If you’re in the know - let’s discuss!
Tonight show (FEB 13) airs at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Hollwood Week’s Hollywood Weak
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
American Idol switched things up this year for Hollywood Week with two big departures from previous seasons: Contestants were allowed to play instruments during their initial auditions, and, if judges turned them down on that first try, they would get a second chance later in the week.
But it was the same old Simon who bluntly told those not good enough for the top 24 where they stood.
And when he’s right, he’s right.
Case in point: Contestants, don’t forget the words. Kiss o’ death.
Most of the singers who forgot the words also were those struggling to to stay in tune. Bye-bye to the Hollywood Weak.
Some of my highlights:
Brooke White, the 24-year-old who has never seen an R-rated movie, nailed the opening audition and sailed through to the final round of the week.
Amanda Overmeyer, 23, was in a car accident the week before going to Hollywood, and she suffered cracked ribs and a head injury. Didn’t matter. Her power vocals on Light My Fire were great.
Josiah Leming, 18, who lives in his car, took a chance and played the keyboard. The judges were amazed, and Simon pays a huge compliment: “I think out of all the auditions, this is the one I am going to remember.” When he came back for his finale, he tanked, but the judges sitll put him through because of his earlier work.
Australian Michael Johns was brilliant on Bohemian Rhapsody, drawing cheers for and tons of praise from the judges.
Our local contestant, 18-year-old Mia Coleman, above, didn’t snag much screen time. The Huber Heights resident and Wayne High School student hasn’t been able to talk about her Idol experience publicly yet.
And we won’t find out the top 24 until Wednesday night.
That leaves us a little time to speculate until then. What do you think? Who do you like?

‘Big Brother 9’ complete with condoms, couples and conundrums
Thanks to the writer’s strike the first-ever winter edition of America’s favorite voyeuristic adventure, Big Brother, is set to begin tonight (Feb 12) on CBS.
This edition is titled “Til Death Do You Part” and early indications are that the show will air three days a week and feature a few twists and turns missing from the last few seasons. For those really addicted to the show - you can subscribe to the Live Big Brother Video feed or catch the show on Showtime’s ‘After Hours.’
Each person in the house is single and looking for their perfect match/soulmate. The show put the contesants through a battery of tests looking to pair the houseguests for compatibility tests - sounds like Match.com (are they a sponsor?).
Here are a few tidbits about a few of the houseguests and the show.
Parker who is actually on the payroll for TMZ.com as a celebrity paparazzo and whose bio states that he, “wears his heart on his sleeve and will always say what he feels.” Awww how cute. http://buzzkilled.com
Sheila is Natalie’s mother. Hence the same porn background. Matt and Allison are brother and sister. Amanda and Parker best friends. Josh and Jacob are brothers from Canada. Neil and Alex are brothers. Jen and Ryan may be married or could just be dating, but together at any rate. Sharon and Chelses are sisters. Adam and James are gay partners.
Instead of a gym, the house is equipped with a sauna - complete with condoms. Maybe that is what CBS means by turning up the heat.
Jen and Ryan both list Columbus, Ohio, as their hometown and are rumored to be together.
Natalie claims to be bikini barista who takes her bible everywhere.
As the show goes - each week the houseguests vote to evict. This season the houseguests will be competing as a team. In the end, they are all vying for the top prize of $500,000. But who will still be together when it’s all over?
‘Big Brother 9’ premieres Tuesday, February 12th at 9:00 PM on CBS.
Thoughts anyone?

Catfights missing from Project Runway
Or at least not yet… Season 4 of ‘Project Runway’ is quickly winding to a close and it doesn’t appear there’s too much tension between the designers.
This season has been fairly unremarkable with the exception of the early exit of Jack and the return of Chris due to health issues. Looks like that was a lucky moment for Chris as he and four fellow designers hit the runway last week during Fashion Week.
Not participating in the Fashion week show was Ricky! I was so glad to see him go!
Looking on were the three regular judges, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and Heidi Klumm along with the ‘Project Runway’s’ guest judge, Posh Spice - aka Mrs. David Beckham.
video, photos and comments from ‘Project Runway’ fashion week are on the next page (click link below).
salon.com
Showing their wares were Kathleen “Sweet P” Vaughn, Chris March, Christian Siriano, Rami Kashou and Jillian Lewis.
Various reports online suggest that Sweet P kicked off the show. The story posted on Salon.com said of the audience response and polite clapping,”…nobody thinks this chubby girl with tattoos is actually going to win.”
Her designs weren’t bad, and were, in fact, better than a lot of the successful designers’ offerings I had seen this week. The only time Sweet P really went off the rails, in my opinion, was with a pair of clownlike Bay City Rollers pants, worn with Kelly green gloves and a horrible tie-dyed silk hippie blouse. salon.com
Sweet P was the designer that somehow always seemed to make it through… who knows how that happened?
Chris, the really, really lucky one was up next.
“The audience was glad for him, and rewarded him by bursting into spontaneous aaaaahs and applause at the sight of his first dress…” “The big thesis/antithesis/synthesis of Chris’ show was, in essence, Cow-Flapper of the Harlem Jazz Rodeo. Still, it was quite well received by the audience, who seemed ready to forgive Chris anything. He has won their hearts and minds, if not their eyes.” salon.com
Jillian, one of the coldest designers on the show this season showed a collection that, “could have been worn by Adam Ant.”
While the Fashion Week audience was more than willing to acknowledge her talent, it seemed they just didn’t like her personality very much, making her the Hillary Clinton of “Project Runway. They barely clapped at the end.”
The photos I’ve been able to locate from the show make Jillian’s work look good - but what do I know?
Rami’s apparently told the audience, women “should be cherished every day.” Regardless of his waxing romantic, his work is always meticulously crafted and worthy of getting him to Bryant Park.
“They were quite beautiful — even the Alexander McQueen-esque, Victorian corset dress, the train of which looked like a throw rug of black vinyl postage stamps, or perhaps one of those heavy, car-wash, monster-pelt drapes that massages the soap into your windshield.” salon.com
Mr. “Fierce” Christian was the final designer to show his work. The video clip from the show gives us a glimpse into his personality - he was just having fun.
“He simply is a designer, while all the others are aspiring designers. It is clear that Christian was one of those colorful little boys who loved to lip-sync to Mariah Carey singles in front of the mirror, and has been a peer of Karl Lagerfeld — at least in his own mind — since he was about 4 years old.” “The collection featured a few stunningly huge hats. The dresses were big bouffy tulle shapes, like huge belted tea-roses, and a series of feathery dresses I took to calling the Big Bird Collection, in which Christian had seamlessly fused inspirations from both John Galliano and “Sesame Street.” salon.com
Christian is one of those people who always says what you’re thinking - just in a snarkery - more cutting way than you might have imagined… He clearly flamed up the runway for the next group of designers. He might also be my favorite to win.
We still have several more episodes to go until we get to see all the details from the Bryant Park show and perhaps there’s a cat fight or two still lurking.

You too can be on ‘American Idol’ - Disney Style
Disney Hollywood Studios announced today (FEB 7) they will be adding an ‘American Idol’ attraction to their Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, late in 2008.
Park goers will be able to “experience the challenge of auditioning, the rush of performing on stage in competition, or the thrill of judging the performances in a live interactive entertainment setting with all the glitz and glamor of the distinctive “American Idol” set.”
Just like the TV show - contestants at the theme park attraction will be able to audition for judges and if selected will get the same star treatment as the real ‘American Idol’ stars - just for the day.
The contestants with the highest votes will participate in the a grand finale show at Walt Disney World and a guaranteed spot on an upcoming regional Idol audition.
The only part that seems to be missing from the Disney version is Paula, Simon and Randy… oh well.

How can it be time for ‘Survivor’ already?
It seems like the last season of ‘Survivor’ just ended… is it really time for another season already? With all the new reality TV shows - is anyone else having trouble keeping up?
The premise for this season is interesting enough - super fans vs. fan favorites. But, will Survivor: Micronesia deliver? Several TV rumor sites, suggested that CBS was going to renew the show after this season. Perhaps that will depend on the ratings - although it’s going to be hard to tell with so little scripted programing coming on line anytime soon.
Where’s Richard Hatch… why wasn’t he on this season?
What do you think of the format for this season? Did you watch it? Will this format idea work?

‘American Idol’ Hits Hot-lanta - Recap of Atlanta Auditions
In case America was waiting - we get to meet Ryan’s Parents on this edition of ‘American Idol. Ryan must be tired… he hasn’t shaved.
Tonight’s first up, not only nearly slipped into the audition (literaly) - he nearly cracked up the judges -with his slightly demonic eyes. For Joshua Jones - the judges make him turn around - despite his “karaoke performance’” he gets a golden star.
Carrie Underwood’s audition buddy was next up… I’m not sure he has the star quality he thinks he does. But, what was that song he sang? was than an auction or what. Simon’s “pen has more charisma.” Yeah - a Paula moment… she can’t say no! Asiah Epperson - weepy story - I feel bad about her dad - but, did she need to share that her dad died? Certainly, she has a strong voice - and won a golden ticket and made Paula weep.
Of course there would be a Georgia peach reference… did anyone notice how blonde the peaches were?
Brooke Helvie - a pageant queen has a voice - and a loud squeal and a hugs all around!
It’s down hill from there… the spoken word - what were these next people thinking? So just how many of these auditions do the judges have to see. As Simon says, this is where it becomes ‘American Nightmare’.
Alexandra Lushington - sings a classic - “My Funny Valentine.” and is in!
Eva Miller - luckily she thinks she’s got it all… although it’s pretty clear she’s living in a fog or something. She loves Simon. The slow motion replay was amazing - the tears - not so much.
Jared Wiley was a hoot!!!!! - Simon thought it was something out of a science fiction movie.
Nathan Hite - I’m not sure why he was worried about how much he could move around on the stage - but Simon called it a bedroom audition. After a few minutes of banter… this guy is out! And I don’t think it was because he refused to Simon, either!
Amanda Overmyer - Randy is a yes - Paula is a yes and Simon even says yes! Her sound appeared to by deeply authentic!
The next guy - living in his car - another weepy moment - I might have even had a tear on this one.
Josiah Leming - it is weird, the accent - Paula - I think you’re holding back - Randy says yes and even Simon says yes… and “the British as taking over!”
19 others were chosen from Atlanta and just one more night of auditions to go!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait until these auditions are finally over… is it me or did the auditions go on a couple weeks longer than last year?

Get on with the show already!
I’m usually a pretty patient guy. But, is it really necessary for Fox to drag out the auditions for ‘American Idol’ over so many weeks?
I understand ratings and all - but really. I’m about to go wacky waiting for the real show to get under way. How many more bad auditions do we have to watch?
Then we have the issue of so many the rumored top 24 being former stars or semi-professionals vying for their chance at fame… what about the little guy in all this? You know, that undiscovered talent would be discovered on the show with America voting.
Whatever the case, I’m ready for the season to get started and the real competition to begin!
Anyone else feeling this way?

Britney Spears connection to ‘American Idol’
Of course there would be a Britney Spears connection to ‘American Idol’…
One of the contestants auditioning in Miami turned out to be Robbie Carrico, 26, member of the pop band called Boyz-N-Girlz United. The band apparantley opened for spears a few years ago when she was on a European tour.
MTV News is linking (romantically) the Pop-diva/reality TV star with the Melbourne, Florida native and has a video on their site show the two - almost in the same room at the same time. “Carrico’s group, Boyz-N-Girlz United, opened for Spears on the …Baby One More Time tour in the summer of ‘99. Their brief relationship became public when they attended the “Drive Me Crazy” premiere together that September.”
The singer has another connection to the music world, MTV is also reporting Carrico is related ” to country legend Patsy Cline, his “maternal cousin.”
.
Fox.com
Carrico, whose audition appeared on Wednesday’s (Jan. 29) episode appears to the lead vocal in a band called the Missing Picket http://www.missingpicket.com. this is the guy who had the groupies waiting out side.
If he’s going to win American Idol, I thinking he’s going to need a little bit of a makeover. But this season’s Idol has quite a few “experienced” contestants - so who knows what will happen!
Thoughts on American Idol so far… the Britney Connection… ???

Britney Spears ballet ‘Meltdown’ is set to open
I’ll bet Gilbert and Sullivan only wished they had a Britney Spears of their time to write an opera around.
But the Rambert Dance Company, fascinated with the Britney Circus, is set to open a ballet entitled, ‘Meltdown,’ Today (Feb. 1) in London. The Music for the performance was written by the same musician who brought London, ‘Jerry Springer, the Opera.” The choreographer for the show called the Britney story a modern day tragedy, a reversal of fortune - she had so much hope and now. Link to the BBC video
Photo BBCOne part of her live that seems to be missing from this opera - her stint as a reality TV star, oh well. But how will it end… that is always the question of any good opera/ballet/real life tragedy isn’t it?
