Only one David left standing after “American Idol” battle. Latest Update Finale

Perhaps not the battle of the century as billed by the announcer, but tonight’s battle between the two Davids is sure to epic.

As the show kicks off… the producers seemed to feel it necessary to take this whole battle thing way too far! I’m ready David’s going to whomp David right? At least the opening was a little different.

Guided by Clive Davis and Andrew Lloyd Weber the final two are set to duel.

Round One:

David Cook
Tonight’s songs - “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking for.”
My Take - Nice job… He seemed a little flat here and there… Certainly a song that suits his style.
Randy - “DC - great way to start off this duel. It was hot baby. ”
Paula - ” We have found David Cook. David Cook has arrived. ”
Simon -” You looked very tense, very emotional… taking all of that together, I thought I was phenomenal “

David Archuleta
Tonight’s songs - “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”
My Take - A predictable song choice for him. I was ready to give round one to David Cook… but I have to say I think round one should go to Archuleta.
Randy - “It doesn’t matter what happens… you picked the right time to peak baby. That was flawless… unbelievably molten hot. ”
Paula - ” I’ve got chill running down my arms. David that was a beautiful sunny performance. ”
Simon -” I though last week you were okay. I thought tonight’s performance was the best you’ve done so far. “

Round Two:

David Cook
Tonight’s songs - “Dream Big”
My Take - Ah.. the guitar is back… Nice Job of bringing back a song and making it sound like new.
Randy - “What made it really work… is you hit the notes. ”
Paula - ” Song in your heart, a guitar in your hands and we millions are mesmerized by you. ”
Simon -” It was a bit of a lightweight. It didn’t feel like a winning moment for me. “

David Archuleta
Tonight’s songs - ” In This Moment”
My Take - This kid’s got some range… even if you wouldn’t buy his records. That was nearly flawless.
Randy - “I wasn’t crazy about about the song… but right now you could sing the phone book and it would be good. ”
Paula - ” It was just another heartfelt performance. ”
Simon -” I love the egotistical lyrics. You definetly choose the better song. Round Two Archuleta. “

Round Three: Contestants’ Choice

David Cook
Tonight’s songs - “The World I Know”
My Take - David did a great job of making this song fresh… but was it enough… it seems the little David might have the edge and be the next American Idol. Without a doubt - commercial
Randy - “One of the cool things about you. Very nice job. ”
Paula - ” You are standing in your truth… I applaud you David Cook. ”
Simon -“You are one of the nicest most sincere contestants we have had. It was completely and utterly the wrong song choice for the night. “

David Archuleta
Tonight’s songs - “Imagine”
My Take - What a great song choice to end the competition for this little wonder. Based on the three performances you’d have to give the night to Archuleta! Amazing.
Randy - “Dude you are so good tonight. You are exactly what this show is about. ”
Paula - “It’s the culmination. You were stunning tonight. ”
Simon -“At the end of the day, this show is about finding a star. And, tonight, I think we’ve witnessed one of the great finals. You came out here tonight to win and what we’ve witnessed is a knock-out “

So, after three rounds, the next American Idol is likely to be David Archuleta.

What do you think?

Go David Cook!!! I only watch AI because of him. David A. is a great singer, but too safe. David Cook is not afraid to take risks, and does well doing it. I don’t believe Cook was treated fairly by judges, and weird comments made, hmmm. Anyways, I hope America votes correctly. May the best Cook, oh, I mean man win. Hi momma, get back to work. ha ha ha

Squirrelly: The World I Know is a song by Collective Soul from 1995, as Randy pointed out during his critique, and their ORIGINAL version is MUCH better, than David C.’s was last night. That being said, David C. is the lesser of two evils. I predict that he will win and if David A wins, I will lose what little respect I have for American Idol.

David Cook will win because he is the best. DC set the bar so high from the beginning of idol, and DA has never caught up to him. DA is very limited in what he can sing, and DC takes chances and produces new music for his fans, even to the possible detriment of losing the AI crown, just to please his fans. I want to say, “thank you, David Cook, for the beautiful gift you gave us last night, your new song, “The World I Know.” This should shut up the disbelievers that say negative things about DC. This song moved me to tears, and I felt his heart. He is my favorite artist of all, and I’m thankful to AI for allowing me to meet him. I think AI judges need to check themselves…they will find they were not so fair to our DC last night. DC is the artist DA will never be. DA is a nice kid with some talent, but he’ll never be a DAVID COOK SUPERSTAR!

I felt like the judges, and the reviewer (no offense, Craig), and I were watching 2 different shows. Archie was all kinds of pitchy, and he kept closing his eyes, despite Sir ALW’s critique. I think Cook should win!

I vote David A. He’s younger and has more potential of becoming an A-lister because he has yet to develop.(and he’s cuter) David Cook is grown and already has a set style of singing and ‘looking’

I fear that because some people think Cook didn’t have a good night last night, that Archie will beat out Cook. But, at least we know from past experience that the good ones will still end up making records. So even if the correct one doesn’t win. We’ll still be seeing David Cook albums and concerts in the future!

At the end of the day I know I will buy David Cook’s cd’s instead of David Archuleta’s. At this point it probably doesn’t matter who wins anyway.

David A. belongs on the Disney Channel, possibly High School Musical IV? Everyone of those kids from Disney Channel has more personality and charisma than David A. Who would seriousily buy an album of his? Hear that low whirring noise? That is John Lennon spinning in his grave. His interpretation of Imagine was horrendous, I think I dozed off during his performance. He doesn’t have any thing resembling star quality. His hair is even forgettable. David C. isn’t much better, although I see much more potential with him. This year’s AI was horrible, definately an off season. Paula has got to go, she adds nothing to the show, they need someone that is more critical.

I agree with Shantei. David Cook takes the song and makes it his own. He performs for the crowd and interacts with them. David A sings the same type of songs every week and honestly each song just sounds the same to me. He would be VERY boring to watch in a concert! But win or lose, I am and will continue to be a David Cook fan!!!

dialidol dot com has been extremely accurate this season as well as predicting winners of past seasons (based on phone tracking/busy signals/heck i don’t really know how they do it) and they have David Cook winning pretty handily. I think he was the best overall, but I was pretty bored with both of them the last few weeks.

American Idol is supposed to be a singing competition. Rightfully, the best voice should win. David Archuletta, hands down, has the best pipes of the season. Balads or not, he is the winner by far.

David Cook is the total package, a better entertainer who takes risks. David Archuleta has a good voice, though his diction isn’t great and he can bore me. He’s background music. David Cook is a headliner who can have hits right from the start. Archuleta will win, but Cook will have the better career.

David A may win, but my vote goes to Cook. David A sings mostl ballads, and really sticks to the words in a song. takes no chances. Cook can sing anything. He can do the high long notes. Win or loose you won’t see the last of Cook. He is gonna be around for some time He is very very good.

David A. may win, but he all he sings is ballads. Like Josh Groban. David C. was different and I loved it. Go David Cook!!
