Dancing with the Stars - Week 2 - The Results Show Update
As we wait to see who will be staying around for another week, Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson kicked off tonight’s (Sep 30) show dancing the Pasa Doble.
When tonight’s guest star, Jessica Simpson started singing, I was caught off guard… Somehow her move to country passed my by. Her second number was far more enjoyable than the first. I was a little afraid for her teeth… it seemed as though she was going to swallow her microphone.
Tonight’s show provided at least one revealing tidbit about Len and Bruno, two of the show’s judges. Each week they’re traveling back to the U.K. to tape the UK version of Dancing with the Stars and then back to the US to do the U.S. version - they must be earning some great frequent flyer miles.
Tonight’s Macy’s Stars of Dance performance was at least illuminating if nothing else - overall the dance was a little too abstract for my taste.
So the couples continuing on to week three include:
- Toni Braxton & Alec Maz
- Rocco Dispirito & Karina Smirnoff
- Cody Linley & Julianne Hough
- Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
- Susan Lucci & Tony Dovolani
- Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson
- Maurice Greene & Cheryl Burke
- Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer
- Misty May-Treanor & Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
- Cloris Leachman & Corky Ballas
Kim Kardashian & Mark Ballas danced their final dance of this season of Dancing with the Stars. I really thought Cloris or Rocco would be going home… but that’s what makes this show so fun to watch… you just never who’s going home next.
Did America get the vote right this week?

Tonight’s dance - The Rumba. We’ll see if she’s really going to bring sexy back. I think she might be a poser and not a dancer.
Judges Comments

Judges Comments
Len Goodman - 6 - You were rough and clunky.
Bruno Tonioli - 6 - You don’t dance the dance. It lacked fanese.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 7 - It was a little too stiff for some as cool and groovey as you.

Bruno Tonioli -5 - Surreal…
Carrie Ann Inaba - 5 - Oooohhh…… I hope that when I’m 82, I’m half the woman you are.
Total Score 15 our of 30

Bruno Tonioli - 7 - It was a very good rumba.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 7 - That was really nice. You transported us to someplace else.
Total Score 21 out of 30
Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson
Tonight’s dance - Pasa Doble. I loved the matrix connection… but I don’t think it really worked - Although it was a fun performance.
Judges Comments
Len Goodman - 8 - Very, very, intense Pasa Doble.
Bruno Tonioli - 8 - Big, bold, heroic - For a guy of your size, the way you move your feet is amazing.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 8 - You are the Pasa Doble killer!
Total Score 24 out of 30
Cody Linley & Julianne Hough
Tonight’s dance - rumba. I think the kid figured out how to sell sexy!
Judges Comments
Len Goodman - 7 - It just lacked a little bit of polished.
Bruno Tonioli - 7 - You are like a kid in the candy store. You actually have the talent.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 7 - It was an age appropriate - rumba.
Total Score 21 out of 30
The one thing we learned tonight, is that the way to Cody’s heart is with chicken and Twinkies. In terms of the dancing, it seemed to me the show stopping performances were missing from tonight’s show.
I’d have to say it will most likely be Cloris Leachman and Corky who will be going home. Agree?
TweetProject Runway’s future uncertain after court decision
Earlier this year, Lifetime Television pulled off a cable TV coup d’état by signing up the Weinstein Co., prroducers of Bravo TV’s popular show “Project Runway,” to bring the show to its network.
The courts have started to weigh in on a number of suits filed over the move and earlier today (Sep 26), NBC Universal, parent company to Bravo TV, won a preliminary injection against the Weinstein Co.
The new season of Project Runway was to have started on LIfetime this Noveber, but earlier this year, the network announced it would be arring in January.
NBC said in a statement released earlier today the company said “NBC Universal is pleased that the court granted our motion for a preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Co. The overwhelming evidence demonstrated that the Weinstein Co. violated NBC Universal’s right of first refusal to future cycles of ‘Project Runway.’ After hearing all of the evidence, the court issued an order prohibiting the Weinstein Co. from taking the show or any spinoff to Lifetime.”
In response, Lifetime released its own statement “We are disappointed with the court’s decision to grant the preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Co. It’s unfortunate that the people hurt most by this ongoing dispute are the loyal fans of ‘Project Runway.’ In the meantime, Lifetime will pursue all measures to uphold its valid and binding agreement reached with the Weinstein Co. for Season 6 of ‘Project Runway.’”
As the parties look work to sort this mess out, it appears the future of the show is up in the air…. the show is too popular to just go off the air… right?
TweetProject Runway - The Final Four - Season 5
After five seasons, it’s hard to remember all of the challenges. But this week’s challenge seemed to be an original. The designers were given the challenge of designing for each other and modeingl the design designed for them. The these this week… Music.
Here’s the breakdown:
Kenley gets (Pop)
Suede (Punk)
Korto (Country)
Leann (Hip-hop)
Jerell (Rock and Roll)
If you been watching this season, you’ll know that Korto isn’t country, Leann isn’t hip-hop and Kenley isn’t pop. So we’ll see what happens.
OMG - Suede is a classically trained cellist, so I guess he isn’t into punk. That just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover.
As the designers’ progress…. I have to say Jerrell may have nailed it.
Tim’s pep talk seemed to be catching some of the designers off guard. Kenley thinks Tim is being “snarky.” I think he was close to losing it. From her remarks, Kenley clear knows it all… we’ll see.
Next, the designers go to hair and make-up… and wow.
And now the show.
Guest judge tonight is LL Cool J - so let’s see how this works out.
After seeing the looks on the runway, I’d say Kenley or Suede are out.
Why does Kenley always want to argue - Maybe it will be her time to go.
Winning the challenge was Korto’s interpretation of punk. So in a bit of a twist it was Suede who is auffed as he’s wearing Korto’s design.
Why oh why did they keep Kenley. Although, I wont miss the Suede talking about the Suede in the third person.
Did the judges send home the right designer? Or, should have Kenley been the one to go? I vote for Kenley!
TweetCloris Leachman Rocks Dancing with the Stars
One of the best parts of this season of Dancing with the Stars has to be Cloris Leachman.
At 82, this multi-award winning performer still has a lot of kick left in her. While perhaps not a high kick, her wit and sarcasm are a kick in the pants nonetheless.
So, the witty folks here at the DaytonDailyNews.com have put together a quiz to test your Cloris Leachman knowledge. How well do you know this octogenarian dancing comedian?
TweetDancing with Stars - Season 7 - The Results - Week 1
Did anyone else catch Cloris Leachman’s potty mouth comment about one of the judges? Will these comments be enough to send her home?
Let’s see how America voted.
Brooke Burke & Derek Hough Kim Kardashian & Mark Ballas will be sticking around for another week.
Holy Cow… she made it through! Cloris Leachman & Corky Ballas will also be around for week two.
Before we get to the next group of eliminations, we are entertained by Jessie McCartney - I need to check out Itunes for this dude’s work.
Adam Corolla, a former contestant on the show, also contributed to tonight’s show (Sep 24) by playing the man on the street - posing questions to pedestrians about the show… That’s was fun!
On to the next group of keepers. Maurice Greene & Cheryl Burke will return for week two.
The next performance of the night was The Jonas Brothers - a.k.a. J Bro or so I’m told by those in the know. But can they dance… we should find out shortly.
Well, at least one of them can, I just don’t know which one.
Back to the dancers. Also, going on to the next round are… Misty May-Treanor & Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson Susan Lucci & Tony Dovolani Rocco Dispirito & Karina Smirnoff Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer Cody Linley & Julianne Hough
Now, there are three left - so who is leaving tonight? It’sTed Mcginley & Inna Brayer
So, Toni Braxton & Alec Maz are back for another week. No Arguements from me on America’s vote. Did you agree?
Until Monday night…

While Cloris Leachman may have stole the show, it was Jeffrey Ross & Edyta Sliwinska that were sent packing. When Tom Bergeron asked Jeffery how he’d rate the performance he said, “he’s more ha, ha, ha than Cha, cha, cha…” America agreed and the pair are the first to be sent home for season seven.
After tonight’s performance, I’d say it will be Kim or Ted going home. Agree?
TweetReality TV show hosts play rough - Heidi Klum bruised up
Despite the small audience for the Emmy Awards, even the those who watched the show may not have seen this.
“Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron gave Heidi Klum something she wasn’t expecting from the show… a huge bruise!
From reports it appears that Bergeron was to sweep off her feet and then drop her… and drop her he did.
Photo Latimes.com - That looks like it might hurt!
Although, what might have stung more was the award for top reality TV show host going to Survivor’s Jeff Probst.
Ouch. Bet that hurt worse than the painfully lame Emmy opening act.
Tweet“Dancing with the Stars” Returns for 7th Season - Update
As much as I like unscripted TV, it’s pretty hard to watch three nights in a row of any show. The folks at ABC are counting on us doing just that as they kick-off season 7 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
This season will feature a Grammy®-winning singer, a television legend, a Super Bowl champion, two Olympic Gold medalists and an Oscar® winner. To help speed up the process, two couples will be eliminated this week (September 24).
The Kids Ballroom Dance Competition, sometimes one of the best parts of the show, will also return for another season.
Dancing with the stars is hosted by Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris (E! Entertainment). Back for another year are judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
The dancing hopefuls include:
LANCE BASS - member of the boy band *NSYNC. Teaming up with Lance is Lacey Schwimmer 2007 World Swing Dance Champ.
TONI BRAXTON - Six-time Grammy Awards winner. Braxton is paired up with Alec Mazo, who is returning for his fourth season.
BROOKE BURKE - ABC says Burke is “a host, actress, entrepreneur and celebrity mom.” Should I know how she is? Her dancing partner for the show is Derek Hough who is returning for his third season.
ROCCO DISPIRITO - Reality TV star and award-winning celebrity chef will be cooking on the dance floor with Karina Smirnoff who is back for her fifth season.
MAURICE GREENE - A gold medal Olympian is teaming up with Cheryl Burke to win the mirror ball gold. This will mark the sixth season for Burke.
KIM KARDASHIAN - One of the stars of Keeping up with the Kardashians, whose famous stepfather is none other than, Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Jenner, is teamed up with the returning champ, Mark Ballas. Perhaps they’ll dance their way on to a box of Wheaties.
CLORIS LEACHMAN - This award winning actress is teamed up with the World Latin Champion, Corky Ballas, who will be making his series debut.
CODY LINLEY - the youngest contestant ever to compete on Dancing with the Stars is partnered with the two-time Dancing with the Stars champ, Julianne Hough.
SUSAN LUCCI - Emmy® Award winning actress, cosmetic and jewelry designer is teamed up with Tony Dovolani who is returning for his sixth season.
MISTY MAY-TREANOR - Beach Volleyball champion and recent Olympic gold medalist will be volleying for votes with her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
TED MCGINLEY - this TV actor is teamed up with Inna Brayer - the current US Amateur 10 Dance Champion.
JEFFREY ROSS - New York Magazine’s “Meanest Man in Comedy,” will with hamming it up for the judges and America as he makes his way across the dance floor with Edyta Sliwinska. Sliwinska has competed in all seven seasons of Dancing with the Stars.
WARREN SAPP - Superbowl Champion and recently retired defensive tackle Warren Sapp will be trying his fancy footwork on the dance floor. He is teamed with Kym Johnson who is returning for her fifth season.
This week’s result show will feature the Jonas Brothers and Jesse McCartney.
You can cast your votes for your favorite teams via phone on Monday and Tuesday night during the show and up to 30 minutes after the show has ended.
Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC - check the listings to see how many nights it’s on.
TweetIs “Survivor’s” host really the tops? Emmy Update
Jeff Probst, the host of CBS’s “Survivor,” took home the award for best reality show host, during last night’s(Sep 21) Emmy awards show.
The list of nominees included, “American Idol’s” Ryan Seacrest, “Project Runway’s” Heidi Klum, “Dancing With the Stars’” Tom Bergeron, and “Deal or No Deal’s” Howie Mandel. The nominees also served as the show’s cohosts.
Perhaps I’m just biased toward Heidi Klum and her soft way of auffing the contestants on “Project Runway,” but I thought she would have won. Oh well, there’s always next year.
Is Jeff Probst really the best reality show host? Thoughts?
TweetHeidi Klum vs Ryan Seacrest Emmy Awards smack down
Who are you rooting for? This year’s Emmy awards has all the fixin’s for the best reality TV smackdown ever.
The 2008 awards ceremony will feature the newly added category of best reality TV host. While recognizing the category may have been enough, the show’s producers had the brainy idea to let the nomines serve as show hosts.
So ‘American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest, Project Runway’s Heidi Klum, Dancing With the Stars’ Tom Bergeron, Deal or No Deal’s Howie Mandel and not to be left out of the party Survivor’s Jeff Probst are not only nomiated but will also be hosting the show.
The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on ABC Sunday, Sept. 21 from Los Angeles’s Nokia Theatre.
TweetClips from Project Runway - Bryant Park Show Update
For some - the following may be a spoiler - for others, the following is a short clip from Friday’s (Sep. 12) Project Runway Bryant Park Show.
Here are a few links to each of the designers’ portion of the show.
- Leanne Marshall’s collection at Fashion Week
- Kenley Collins’ collection at Fashion Week
- Korto Momolu’s collection at Fashion Week

- Suede’s collection at Fashion Week (Thanks Carrie for the Links!)
Predictions anyone?
TweetTim Gunn to Judge Project Runway Finale
Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) is out and TIm Gunn is in as the guest judge for season 5 of Project Runway. While J.Lo would have been a great guest judge - she has her own clothing line … Gunn is such a better option!
J.Lo had been scheduled to judge the finale, but thanks to a foot injury, she was forced to cancel, thus leaving an opening for Gunn. I say YEAH! An account of the story in
Throughout the season, Gunn has a bird’s eye view of the designers in action so who better than Gunn to be a judge? His witty remarks and words of encouragement are a highlight for the show and an industry that is so cut throat!
The panel of judges for the finale included Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia, Heidi Klum and America’s Top Designer Michael Kors. The two-part finale will air Oct. 8 and 15 on BravoTV.
This unexpected twist is sure to add a level of dramaliciousness… don’t you think?
Here’s a video clip from the show.
TweetJ.Lo reportedly final “Project Runway” judge
Jennifer Lopez will be a judge on the finale of Project Runway’s Season 5, or so says a source, who says she’ll be shooting the show Friday, during New York’s Fashion Week at — where? all together now! — Bryant Park.
Nina Garcia wouldn’t confirm the news, but hinted the finale “is going to be unbelievable. The guest star is one of the most iconic women around,” she recently told Us. “It’s going to take the cake.”
Judge Michael Kors has no doubt Lopez will make a great judge, telling the new issue of Elle she could be a fashion editor. “She is curious about what’s new and what’s next,” he says, “but at the same time she knows how to edit perfectly for her look and lifestyle.”
A Bravo rep would would neither confirm nor deny Lopez’s role on the show. Thing is, we don’t really care about the judge. WHOSE COLLECTIONS WILL WE SEE? My money’s on Leanne. Or Jerell. Or Terri. Or Korto.
