American Idol: Did Simon just crown Adam king?
Simon Cowell told Oprah Winfrey that he thinks Adam Lambert will win “American Idol” this season. If you really think that is a shock, you haven’t been watching this season.
The judges practically awarded Adam the title weeks ago, and to many people, the final two weeks of the season can’t end soon enough. I’m still watching, though.
Tonight’s show sends the all-boys final three of Kris Allen, Adam and Danny Gokey back to their hometowns, where folks celebrate their success and wish them luck. This has made for good TV in past seasons.
The show also features one song pick by the judges and one by the contestant. Wonder how that will go? Does Kara DioGuardi get shut out of the selections? I have read that Simon picked Adam’s song, Paula Abdul had Danny’s and Randy Jackson selected Kris’.
Ironically, it was the much-maligned Paula who said near the beginning of the top 12 that Adam and Danny would be in the finals. Will she be right?
Regular readers here know I am not as gaga over Adam as the judges and many of you. He is a good singer and better performer, but I don’t see myself buying a CD full of his screaming and screeching. He’s often too over-the-top for me.
Kris Allen has come a long way. I didn’t think he would make the final four. He probably gets the votes of the young fans and of the Cougars.
Danny never really got any better than when he started, and his performance last week was memorable for something bad — now known simply as “The Scream.” Danny made it even worse when forgot the words to “Billie Jean” during his homecoming.
I think Danny will be done this week unless he has great performances.

I think Adam is fantastic and will be an international star very soon. He is becoming a world wide phenomenon. He is what music needs right now.

I don’t know or care to know anything about Adam’s lifestyle. I just don’t get his singing (screaming) style. To me, Kris and Danny actually SING. Adam…not so much.

if you like people sing with their tongue hanging out vote for adam…or who scream really loud…or guys who kiss guys….or a drag queen…then please vote for Adam

i think adam should win he is great i think he is running a real close race to elvis he inspires me everytime i hear him sing. he is the best of the three.

Cant really stand Adam. Danny is okay. Kris is mediocre. For what its worth though, it is better off to lose the competition than it is to win. If you win, you are held by the Idol contract, where if you come in 2 or 3, you have better grounds for negotiating your contract.

Adam should win. I love him and he is very good at siging and I can see him going farther than that and into movies. hes is the only one comfortable up there and he has been good since day 1 of adutitions. he knows what he wants and he very deserving of it. I don’t see what you are saying screaming and screaching. danny and kris does more of that than adam ever has. He should be the winner unless he messes up really bad and it only takes 1 error to be voted off. allison should not of been let go. should of been danny. i think america got that one wrong. I do like danny but allison is better than he is. I hope Adam and her do make records togeather becasue they are very good with each other.

I see Adam on Broadway, but I’m not sure about an actual record. Danny Gokey is extremely talented, but he’ll end up a Christian recording artist regardless. That leaves Kris, who would at least have mass appeal. Even though he’s my least favorite, Kris would make the most sense.

Although Danny is my least favourite contestants on top 5, I still think he’s got the biggest chance to win Idol. He sounds the same every week, I can’t remember any of his songs, yet I have to admit that he has a good voice and most importantly great fan base who will vote for him no matter how bad his performance is. If he can survive ‘the scream’ he can surely be the winner! The one who deserves to win this year is Adam, but even if he doesn’t, I still think he is going to be the most successful Idol this season, if not all season! Btw Ben, have you heard his studio versions? It’s not all screaming and screeching. That’s what I love about him, we can buy his CD and listen to it, and when we come to his concert, he’s going to give us a different creative side of his music, plus great performance of course. I hate to come to a concert where the singer sings exactly the same way as in the CD. Boring and forgetable.

From the moment Adam walked in the door to audition and sang a small portion of “Bohemian Rhapsody” his amazing voice was obvious to everyone. Paula claimed at that time that Adam was the most talented person that they had heard in any city. This is a singing contest. The judges judge singing, what kind of a lamed brained article is this to suggest that Adam was favored by the judges for any reason other then the fact that he is the most talented singer? The person that does not belong in the top three is Danny. He gives me the creeps. He is so full of himself that he attempted that dying cat squeal and then laughed about it all night. Obviously it does not matter to his fans how much he bombs. Adam fans vote for him because he is light years ahead of the other guys in every miserable way.

Yeah - as you say - the judges have already done all they can to jade the competition towards Adam - this is just another nod. I think he will probably win too - but I’m with you, Ben - I will not purchase his music. I like him well enough and he can be fun to watch in small doses, but he’s just not the kind of singer that I enjoy. I do wish we had seen more growth in Danny - but he did start out pretty great. I don’t just don’t have a feel for it since they didn’t let us know who was really on the bottom last week - but my gut still thinks it could be a Danny/Adam finale. It will be close - I know that much for sure! It seems to me like 2 songs each and hometown visits is a lot to cram in one hour. I’m looking forward to it!

Adam is the most talented out of the 12. I don’t believe Kris and Danny should even be in the final 3. Allison should have been there. But it depends on the phones who gets the prize. This the phone dialing contest, not talent. Sad…so many others more deserving.
