‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 10 kicks off

Tonight, we kick off the 10th season of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ This time around we have 11 contestants ranging from an astronaut, a bachelor (well, former bachelor anyway), several actresses and a football star known for a different kind of dancing (the kind at the end zone). Starting things off…

Cincinnati Bengals player Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke’s Cha-Cha-Cha was decent. I’ll give them most likely to improve.

Shannen Doherty & Mark Ballas looked lovely during their Viennese Waltz. They had the most emotional performance of the night with the tears from Shannen and her father.

I don’t like this new room for the “backstage.” They’ve replaced the red room with a glass “aquarium” off the dance floor. But all the audience gets to see are the backsides of the stars while we’re waiting. Someone didn’t think this through.

Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovskiy definitely had the worst song choice of the night with Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok.” Why this dumb song? They had to change at least half of the lyrics! The dance was pretty good though. Her tassels make shakin’ it easy.

The corniest dance of the night had to be Jake Pavelka & Chelsie Hightower — The “Bachelor” is dancing to Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose.”

Based on crowd reaction, Niecy Nash & Louis van Amstel might be the fan favorites this season. After she had a blast dancing and dedicated her performance to “thick girls everywhere” she might be my favorite too!

I’m never surprised when the Olympics stars are good. Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya were no exception. They might have nailed down most graceful, or maybe most potential to do well.

The funniest line of the night comes from Buzz Aldrin about his partner Ashly Costa, “When I first met Ashly I thought ‘this is a really cute babe!’”

The best judge comment came from Carrie Ann to Buzz when she called him a “cute little moonwalker.” It’s just a shame his dancing wasn’t that great.

The best of our Ohio connections: Definitely goes to Nicole Scherzinger, who attended Wright State University at one time, & her partner Derek Hough.

Soap star Aiden Turner and partner Edyta Sliwinska had the most steamy dance.

Most drama before we even get going? Kate Gosselin of course with her attitude during rehearsals towards partner Tony Dovolani. No surprise there. Her whole life is dramatic.

The most stripper-esque (but still pretty good) number would be none other than Pamela Anderson & Damian Whitewood (new pro this season). Even Bruno seems to agree. “Stripperella’s back home,” he declared.

Well that wraps up night 1 of season 10.

My pick for worst is a tie between Kate and Buzz

The best of the night? Nicole Sherzinger. I think she will go far and maybe even win this season if she keeps up like she did tonight.

No results this week and night 2 will be next Monday night at 8 p.m.

Who were your favorites? Least favorites?

Don’t know, don’t care, don’t watch it. That being said, there sure are a lot of supposed men watching though, according to the many responses using a masculine name. Jeez, fellas, nothing else to do on a monday night but watch a lot of has beens prance around on stage? I’m worried about the “men” in the Dayton area. Now, let the berating begin.

Yea to Tim — Ocho is NOT an emabarrassment to Cinci. He is a very caring & generous guy. I know from experience as being one of his soldiers on his Tour for Giving, a trip centered around visiting and supporting charities between Cinci & Miami!! You put your foot in your mouth big time.

Ochocinco impressed me. Loved the “he made a name for himself, literally.” Aiden was clearly the worst, were you even watching him or just his butt? Besides, Evan was clearly the hottest guy out there. ;) I voted for Niecy.

I don’t care for number man but he does have more talent on the field than on the floor. Really stink-o.

Yea because Brady Quinn was a real player to be proud of. The Browns can really hold their heads high this year with that victory (lol) over the lions huh

Tim - Ocho is one of the more popular players in the league. People like him because he goes out and has fun while still being a pretty good player. You must have no humor

Must be a Browns fan. Wouldn’t know talent if it beat him every year!

No one cares about Ocho. He is an embarassment to Cinci and the area.

Whataweakassed group on contestants! Best line of the night came from Bruno who said whoever is Kate Gosselin’s partner looked like he was pushing a shopping cart across the parking lot during their dance.
