Who do you want in the Rock Hall?
Well, we’ve got a lively little conversation going on down below between folks who like REM more than Van Halen and vice-versa, pegged to this week’s inclusion of both bands into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Personally, I like ‘em both and think they both belong in there, but it’s fun to see where folks weigh in on their favorites.
But here’s a question: Who’s not in the hall that you think deserves to be? Dire Straits? AC/DC? The Ohio Players?
Tell us … and feel free to tell us who you think have no business being in there at all. And don’t anybody say Patti Smith, or I’m coming to git ya…

I want groups or individuals in the hall that made a significant contribution to R&R.Bach,Beethoven,etc.,don’t qualify and Rappers certainly should not be there; rap is not music in the traditional sense, rather, it is an artform unto itself. Rappers as a group are not singers or musicians, they are social commentators. They are like auctioneers in the rhythm and cadence they give to there words. What they don’t do is create melodies. A rapper hall of fame would be more appropriate for them.By Bill Edgington

KISS should be in the RNR HOF. They are far more worthy than 3/4 of the garbage that’s already inducted..aka..Grand Master Flash. He’s not even Rock & Roll.By Kevin S.

I have to second the Dire Straits and Rush nominations. Especially Rush. Classic Rush music has a unique sound that nobody has ever duplicated.By chris

Okay, I can’t read, Pink Floyd is in the RR HoF, but I still stand by my earlier nominations: Dire Straits, Yes, and Rush. REM was a great band in the 80s and early nineties, but their music got lost in their “message” unlike U2. Van Halen is a favorite but I am ambivalent as to whether they deserve RR HoF status. Good band but great? I liked listening to them on the radio but more often than not I didn’t feel compelled to buy their albums until I heard more of that albu on the radio or from my friends.By sid

Seeing how AC/DC is already in the RR HoF, I would vote for Dire Straits and Pink Floyd, especially Pink Floyd. They changed the face of progressive rock and concerts. I believe Yes also deserves membership as well.
