Oh, yeah. \"Hotel California,\" too. | Brain Droppings | Commentary on arts, books, culture and entertainment by Ron Rollins, Dayton Daily News

Oh, yeah. “Hotel California,” too.

Nice little string we got started yesterday on which songs you just don’t need to hear anymore…

I can’t believe I left “Hotel California” off my list. Glad somebody nominated it. It’s one of those thought-it-was-deep-when-I-was-17 songs that really sounds stupid now. Good guitar solo at the end, I guess … but now we’re back to the original premise: How many times to you need to hear something again that you already have note-for-note in your head?

Keep ‘em comin’, fans….

I nominate “Margaritaville”. I have heard this song WAY too many times.

I’d like to add “We Will Rock You” and “We are the Champions” by Queen. They’ve become so cliche that I’ve been turned off to the band forever, even though I do enjoy a song or 2 of theirs.

Happy to help, Ron! ;) Another nomination: “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John. Don’t have anything against the tune in particular, but that seems to be the Elton tune I hear most on the radio. Come on, guys - the man had at LEAST a dozen better hits.
