Dog show woe!
Soooo, why do the stupidest, sissiest, froofiest dogs seem to do best at the Westminster dog show?
Why don’t real dogs ever win?
And how about a category for “Best Mutt”? That’d be fun.

We stopped watching after the Toy Poodle won the Toy class. Every dog show, the poodles win their class. It’s getting a little ridiculous. 175 different breeds and they keep picking the same ones. You can’t tell me the Poodle is soooo much better than every other dog. I think that cut they give them gives them an advantage. We all know the Standard Poodle will win it’s class tonite and either it or the Toy will win Best In Show.

I finally decided last night that I am no longer watching dog shows because it’s the same breeds who win every time. It seriously feels like there is a poodle in every group, too. And another thing…the judges must be listening in to the announcers when they say who the favorites are because that’s typically the dog that wins the group. It happened with the Whippet last night. And they should have an all-mutt dog show…although my mutt would win, hands down!

Look at the judges and there is your answer. It’s called reflection.

Actually, you have to go back to 2002 when a Miniature Poodle won Westminster Best in Show to get to a “froo-froo” dog winning Best in Show. From 2003 on Best in Show has been a Kerry Blue Terrier, Newfoundland, German Shorthaired Pointer, Bull Terrier, English Springer Spaniel, 15” Beagle (Uno was my fav!), and a Sussex Spaniel in order by year. But I understand what you mean. I have 2 mutts and love them dearly. They are beautiful. Although I understand why they do the classic cuts on Poodles for the show, I wish they would show the regular cut that most people have on their pet Poodles, which makes them look more like regular dogs than decorations. They are a very hearty and tough breed actually.
