Take challenge, “What Can You Live Without?” for chance to get on “Oprah”

Want to learn something about your family, “feel a lot of love” and possibly get on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”?

Take the “What Can You Live Without?” Challenge. To take part, you need to follow these guidelines for seven days and report back to Oprah:

  1. Cut out all technology — no televisions, video games, cell phones, computers, MP3 players or anything else you may use on a daily basis.

  2. No eating out. Everyone must eat dinner at home as a family and brown bag it for lunch.

  3. Curb your spending! The only items you can buy are groceries, and try to buy what you need for the week for $125.

  4. Plan an inexpensive, creative family outing. You may spend a small amount of money on this if necessary.

  5. Choose one family activity that gives back to others.

  6. Mom and Dad: Plan one date night so you can connect as a couple.

  7. No working late.

At the end of that week, see if you can go for another week and add some of your family’s own rules to the challenge. Then share your experiences with Oprah.

And, according to Oprah, it will not only be a great money-saver — you’ll have a great time.

“You’re going to reconnect as a family. You’re going to find out what each other’s real interests are, what everybody’s been thinking, what everybody’s been feeling. You’re going to feel a lot of love.”

I wonder if Oprah is speaking from experience.

At any rate, it could be interesting. And, even if you don’t get on Oprah, we’d like to hear from you. Let us know how your family does on this challenge and you could be featured in the newspaper next month.

Best of luck!

I’m cutting back on electricity by living in one room with one light on at night; I’m cutting way back on water by wearing the same clothes for days and days except when I go to church; I’m cutting back on gasoline as I only buy gas once a month to get me to church and the store; I’m only turning on the AC when I feel like I’m going to faint; no trips, no shopping, not eating out; no friends in for a party; sleep in the nude at night on top of the covers so as to try to sleep in the heat; do without all sweets including fruit as who can possibly afford fruit. As a 79 year old widow living alone I’ trying to do my bit to do without. I’ll probably do this in the coming future. Who needs the essentials?????????????

When I was growing up our family did without, electricity, running water, indoor plumbing, automatic washers, dryers, new clothes, food and friends. As an adult there has been a few times I have done that too. I once lived for almost 14 years without running water and indoor plumbing. I can give up more than Oprah can. I would rather try to live with things she has I don’t. Like Money!

Sure—-a bazillionaire like Orca asking us what we’re cutting back on? What a joke—-I wish she’d go away…

Oprah asking us to live without things reminds me of Liz Taylor when she was begging for our donations to Aids Research as she planned yet another 8 Million dollar wedding. You gotta be kidding!!!! Something is wrong with this picture.

Oprah is an elitist clown. Anyone who does anything because “she said it” is a cretin.

Just another example of an elitist/leftist telling families of America to diminish their expectations and their style of living. She’s just trumpeting her Messiah’s call for all of us to sacrifice and Joe “the blow hard” Biden’s suggestion that paying higher taxes is our patriotic duty. If she’s serious about “us” lowering our standards, then let her show us the way by doing without her lifestyle of the rich and fameous. What a croc!

Maybe Oprah can ‘donate’ all the money she spends on the African girl’s school to poor kids in the USA! Talk about taking care of family first, yeah, right!

Opra looks like she is not on her diet, again. I guess she wants us, the masses to give up something, I say we give up watching her show and buying her rags. How about it America, can we do it? I know I can.

From the looks of it, Oprah has been living without a personal trainer and chef. Instead she probably goes to all you can eat buffets every night!
