More restaurant deals for Veterans Day
I mentioned in earlier posts in the past week about the Veterans Day specials being offered by Bar Louie, Applebees and Golden Corral, but Restaurant News and a recent e-mail also brought to light some other great restaurant deals of note.
Here is a comprehensive roundup of the deals being offered to our servicemen and women this Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11:
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is inviting veterans and active-duty members of the military in on Wednesday for a free entree among six menu favorites.
At Outback Steakhouse restaurants across the country, veterans on Wednesday will receive a free Bloomin’ Onion appetizer and a beverage of choice, either a nonalcoholic drink or one draft Anheuser-Busch beer.
Krispy Kreme is giving veterans and active-duty military a free doughnut of their choice on Wednesday at any U.S. location.
Uno Chicago Grill is offering veterans a free entree or a pizza with the purchase of another entree or pizza Wednesday at any of its 200 locations. Showing up in uniform, or guests who show a photo of themselves in uniform, will be enough to receive the offer.
Golden Corral is hosting its ninth annual Military Appreciation Day on Nov. 16, to avoid conflict with others Veterans Day events. The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Anyone who has served in the U.S. military, National Guard or Reserves is invited for a free buffet dinner.
Bar Louie at The Greene in Beavercreek will give all military veterans or currently employed military personnel a complimentary lunch or dinner. The requirements are some form of military ID or proof of serving.
Also, starting Wednesday and going through Nov. 30, Bar Louie will collect items for troops currently serving overseas to put in care packages.
As for locally owned restaurants, at Rue Dumaine, at 1061 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, the restaurant is offering 20 percent off to all veterans or active duty military members; all that is required is that you show appropriate I.D.
And at Barbie’s Bistro, 1122 E. Dorothy Lane in Kettering, will have 50 percent off any dinner or lunch entree for diners with a military ID on Veterans Day.
Also, as a big bonus, the restaurant will have half off appetizers and drink specials for everyone that day.

Dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s at The Greene last night was very good. Good crowd. I had the steak and my wife had the seafood alfredo. Had reservations for 7:45 and planned to hang out at the bar but they were able to seat us when we walked in at 7:30.

My HUsband and I went to OUtback Steakhouse tonight to get the frre Bloomin’ Onion and Beer, When we sat down to order my Husband a U.S. Marine who did two tours in Iraq ordered the Onion and a Beer and the Waitress told us it is against the law to serve free Beer.I personally don’t think anyone would have minded for veterans to get a free beer, after all they fight for our freedom!

Jeez, Melissa, what a killjoy to have to live with, ‘eh? As a retired devil dog myself, I’d like to tell your husband he needs to STFU!!! To “serve” your fun loving husband a free beer, perhaps. For the Outback to buy your husband a drink for his service, not so much. Sorry for your luck…

I apologize melissa. I misread your blog (twice). I am sorry. I thank your husband for his service. BTW, screw Outback, ‘eh?
