Corvettes recalled because roofs can fly off

General Motors is recalling about 22,000 Chevrolet Corvettes, due to a problem with their detachable roofs.

According to GM, the recall includes 2005-07 model year Corvettes with removable roofs and 2006-07 Corvette Z06s.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, via CNN Money, noted:

“If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle. If this were to occur while the vehicle was being driven, it could strike a following vehicle and cause injury and/or property damage.”

The safety recall is expected to begin next month, and owners will get their roofs replaced free of charge, according to the NHTSA.

For more info, owners should call (800) 630-2438 or visit www.gmownercenter.com.
