iPad to start at $500; see cool demo
As was announced earlier today, Jan. 27, Apple has unveiled its long-awaited tablet-style computer with on-screen keyboard, and named it the iPad.
Pricing will start at $499 for the 16-gigabyte version, $599 for the 32-gig version and $699 for the 64, according to CNN.
As for a preview, Sports Illustrated put together a cool demo of the new device late last year. Check it out here.
The one thing that is giving me pause about today’s announcement is the name. Is anyone else kind of put off by “iPad”?
I had heard it would be called iSlate or iTablet or a host of others, and I would guess it was named as such to be more in line with the iPod and the iPhone.
Maybe I just have to get used to it. Maybe not.
What do you think?

$499 plus tax for a touch tablet ? I think not. Yes, I agree the name is definitely weak. Wonder if Apple paid a marketing firm to come up with that one or was it there own idea ?
