Where are the 10 dirtiest hotels in U.S.?
TripAdvisor recently released its 2010 list for the country’s top 10 dirtiest hotels, based on traveler reviews.
Thankfully, none of Ohio’s gems are on that list. Then again, not as many folks are taking vacations to Ohio as compared to say, California, which has the most on the list with three.
However one each from Missouri and Pennsylvania made the filthy fare, so that shows that if you really apply yourself, you can succeed no matter the circumstances.
Here is TripAdvisor’s top 10 dirtiest hotels for 2010:
Heritage Marina Hotel, San Francisco, California
Days Inn Eureka/Six Flags, Eureka, Missouri
Tropicana Resort Hotel, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Super 8 Virginia Beach/At the Ocean, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Quality Inn, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
New York Inn, New York City, New York
Parisian Hotel & Suites, Miami Beach, Florida
Capistrano Seaside Inn, Capistrano Beach, California
Desert Lodge, Palm Springs, California
Continental Oceanfront Hotel South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida
To read some of the travelers’ reviews — like “had the ambiance of fresh vomit” about the Heritage Marina Hotel — see the TripAdvisor site and click on the hotel name.
TripAdvisor also has a list of the top 25 hotels in the country, based on traveler reviews.
Ohio did have one on that preferred list, the Marriott Cleveland Downtown at Key Center in Cleveland, which came in at No. 18.

Panera to offer coupons as acts of kindness
In a couple of weeks, all Dayton-area Panera Breads will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week with coupons for free menu items.
Its “Panera It Forward” campaign, which gets points for good karma and creativity if nothing else, will run from Feb. 15-21.
Panera said that more than a dozen Secret Good Will Ambassadors will hand out coupons that week with offers ranging from a free Asiago Bagel Breakfast Sandwich to a cup of Grande coffee.
Then, with each order, customers will get a flier with suggestions for various random acts of kindness. Each flier will have two offers: one for you and one for a friend.
Also, Panera will ask the community to blog about good deeds happening that week at Panera-Ohio.com.
