“Princess and the Frog” necklaces recalled
“Princess and the Frog” necklaces and pendants, sold at Walmart since November for $5, have been recalled because they contain high levels of cadmium.
Cadmium is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled jewelry is shaped as a metal crown or frog pendant on a metal link chain necklace in a crown hinged box. The crown is model No. 4616-4187, UPC No. 72783367144, and the frog is model No. 4616-4190, UPC No. 72783367147.
The CPSC noted that consumers should return the recalled jewelry to any Walmart store for a full refund or a free replacement product.
USA Today added that this recall marks the first time any consumer product has been recalled in the U.S. because of cadmium.
