Know holiday return policies
Holiday e-shopping has begun, and with it the potential for gift returns, according to FreeShipping.org.
As always, it pays to read the fine print before you buy because many online merchants have different policies.
Here are the return policies of four big e-retailers this year:
Bath & Body Works: The store sticks to its “no sale is ever final” motto. You don’t need a sales receipt or shipping invoice for gifts, but they only can be returned to bricks-and-mortar Bath & Body Works stores.
Best Buy: The retailer is spreading holiday cheer with free shipping now through Dec. 27, and return gift purchases — with no exclusions — now through Jan. 4.
Macy’s: The return deadline is 180 days and you don’t need a receipt because of a program that identifies products in its system. Gifts will receive a store credit or exchange. (The deadline for jewelry purchases is 30 days.)
