The thrill of decorating on a budget
Bret Baden of Design Agenda has some nifty ways to deck the halls without breaking the budget this year.
“I love to work on budget,” he says.
The thrill of the hunt for all things inexpensive is inspiration for the Kettering-based interior designer, who also recently launched Picasso Pillows, a line of interchangeable custom-made pillow covers with invisible snap closures.
He shares two holiday decorating ideas:
Mix live greens with fake greens. This will create a “large and lush” sense of style on mantels or staircases. Perk up a faux garland with white pine, pine cones or juniper berries, for instance.
Put fake and fake together. Add fake picks of berries or roses to fake garlands and wreaths.
Baden suggests visiting such discount stores as Flower Factory to find cool faux holiday stuff.
