Dance duo avoids knockout
Judy Dryer and Tim Farquhar are still champions. The first-place couple in 2007 defended their title in the 2008 dance competition “When the Stars Come Out!” Monday, Oct. 6, an event sponsored by the Dayton Chapter of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and the Greater Dayton LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) Center. And not because they had no competition. Runners-up Jean-Marie Navetta and Elizabeth H. Brown from Washington, D.C., worked the judges with gift bags, distributed candy to the audience and posted fliers listing five reasons to vote for them. Local residents Dave Broering and Michael Curtner took third. Dancers got ready for the competition with lessons from Dayton teacher Johnny Glaze at Club Aquarius.
