An evolving Legend

Springfield’s John Legend got a big publicity boost for his new album, Evolver, which was released Tuesday, Oct. 28. As the story in USA Today advised, “Reach for it.” Noted the newspaper’s reviewer, Elysa Gardner, “His new album has a relaxed, sunny vibe, but there are shades of melancholy and urgency.” There also are shades of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Brandy, Estelle and Andre 3000, all of whom contributed to the album. — D.L.
