Airline considers charging passengers to use the potty

Let’s just hope the penny pinching American airlines don’t read the London Telegram.

The newspaper reported Friday, Feb. 27, that low-cost European airline Ryanair might start charging passengers to use the potty.

AP photo

Airline chief executive Michael O’Leary told the BBC that Ryanair might install a coin slot on the restroom door so that “people might actually have to spend a pound to spend a penny,” the newspaper reported.

When you think about it, I mean really think about it, is it that far a stretch of the imagination to think that American airliners would consider the same move?

Some already charge extra for headphones, checked bags, window seats and snacks.

Outrageous!

What do you think? What’s next, a $10 charge for TP? Comment below.

DECA mock trial team advances to state finals

When a group of high school students from Dayton Early College Academy entered the 2009 Ohio Mock Trial district competition last month, nobody gave them a whiff of chance.

That turned out to be a mistake.

A team from DECA not only toppled more experienced schools in its district and region but is now prepping for the state finals which begin Thursday, March 5 at the Franklin County Courthouse in Columbus.

“As a school this is only our second year competing,” said 16 year old mock trial lawyer Brittish Calloway. “Last year the DECA team didn’t even advance past the first round. But we worked very hard this year and I knew we had as much of a chance as anyone else.”

DECA social studies teacher and mock trial leader Michelle Szucs said the road to the state finals was not without potholes.

“We competed at the regionals Friday, Feb. 20, and were told that our teams failed to advance,” Szucs said. “However, on Monday, Feb. 23, I got a phone call from the State Mock Trial committee.

They said there had been a scoring glitch and we actually did win our trial. We’re going to the state!”

Will you head to Mexico for spring break despite the Travel Alert?

Spring breakers might want to give up the margarita and taco dreams.

The U.S. State Department last week issued a Travel Alert for those heading south of the border as Mexico gets deeper into a bloody drug war.

The alert supersedes the alert for Mexico issued October 15 and will end on August 20, 2009.

Travel alerts are not as serious as Travel Warnings. As bad as things are there, Mexico is no Pakistan , Iraq or Afghanistan.

Alerts warn about short-term conditions that present imminent risks to U.S. citizens.

“Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez,” the advisory said.

“Mexican and foreign bystanders have been injured or killed in violent attacks in cities across the country, demonstrating the heightened risk of violence in public places. In recent years, dozens of U.S. citizens have been kidnapped across Mexico,” the alert said.

Thousands of American college students flock to Mexico for spring break annually.

Should the travel alert change their plans? What do you think? Comment below.

Mystery all but solved, Obama said to be seeking a Portuguese Water Dog

Could months of uncertainty and debate soon come to an end?

First lady Michelle Obama reportedly told “People” magazine that her daughters in April will be getting the hypoallergenic dog they were promised.

Read Associated Press story here.

The president promised Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, a doggie after he was elected.

Michelle Obama told People in an item posted Wednesday, Feb. 25, that her family seeks a rescue Portuguese Water Dog and is tossing around names.

They’ve already ruled out “Frank” and “Moose” which are fine names, but don’t exactly go with the last name Obama. Moose Palin maybe.

The family had considered a fancy pants mutt, the Labradoodle, a Labrador retriever mixed with a poodle.

The seafaring Portuguese Water Dog is apparently a substantial breed.

Read about it here.

What do you think? What should the family name the dog?

Miamisburg woman meets “McDreamy”

Actor Patrick Dempsey put his arm around Lynn Kerschner and the Avon district sales manager from Miamisburg turned into a total goof inside.

“I don’t even remember what I even said to him,” Kerschner’s said Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Patrick Dempsey stars as “Dr. Derek Shepherd” on “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC

She fought to maintain her professionalism as an Avon executive was nearby.

Other Avon reps weren’t as outwardly cool and collected.

“These women started screaming and jumping up,” she said. “It was like they couldn’t stay in their seats.”

As part of an Avon sales contest, Kershner was selected to attend a cocktail party and dinner Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star, who helped Avon launch its new cologne “Unscripted,” was the main dish.

It is Avon’s top selling men’s fragrances.

About 200 Avon division sales managers, district sales managers and Avon representatives were chosen based on their fourth quarter sales performance compared to prior year, the company said.

In addition, Avon leadership representatives who helped recruits advance during that period were also selected for the honor.

Dempsey visited with the women at the event and posed for pictures.

Kershner stood next to him at his vintage Mercedes Benz during her group’s photo.

Dempsey, whose character is nicknamed “McDreamy,” was completely gracious, Kershner said.

Kershner, who doesn’t even watch Grey’s, said the scruffy faced Dempsey was “drop dead gorgeous.”

She was blown away to be so close to a star. “You just wanted to run your fingers through his hair, she said with a slight laugh. “He looked pretty hot.”

“It just an experience I will always remember.”

‘Happy juice’ linked to cancer in women

Maybe all that booze you toss back for your um… health isn’t a good thing after all.

Thirty percent of certain cancers may be linked to even moderate consumption of happy juice, according to a study of British women released Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Read Associated Press article here.

University of Oxford researchers suggest that even a few drinks a day can increase the risk of breast, rectal and liver cancer, the Associated Press story said.

Women who drank two or fewer drinks a week were compared to bigger boozers.

It didn’t seem to matter what kind of alcohol was consumed or in what order - beer before liquor, liquor before beer, wine when you dine, etc.

The findings of course tick off wine lovers and runs counter to the popular notion that a glass of wine a day can help keep a heart attack away.

U.S. health guidelines recommend that women consume no more than one drink a day. Men should drink no more than two a day, the Associated Press reported.

What do you think? Will you change your drinking habits? Do you drink?

Socks: First White House cat, champion to cat-kind dies

With paws of thunder, he reigned over the Clinton White House as First Cat, doing battle with arch nemesis Buddy.

Socks the cat outlived Buddy, but he could not beat death.

Socks was sometimes hassled by the press

The American Shorthair, a hero to all who prrrrr, lost his battle with cancer Friday, Feb. 20, in Hollywood, Md.

The 18-year-old was put to sleep.

Read Associated Press Article here.

The Clintons outraged the cat-kind when they took Buddy, the chocolate retriever they adopted in 1997, with them when they left the White House in 2001.

Socks, originally Chelsea Clinton’s furball, never, ever, ever liked stupid, stupid Buddy and moved with Bill Clinton’s secretary, Betty Currie, to Maryland.

“I’m trying to work that out,” then-president Clinton joked about the relationship between his kitty and doggie. “It’s going to take a while. It’s kind of like peace in Ireland or the Middle East.”

Currie dotted on Socks and was heartbroken over his demise.

Despite their mutual animosity, Socks and Buddy shared a tittle of a book, Hillary Clinton children’s book “Dear Socks, Dear Buddy.”

In his lifetime, Socks appeared in parades, aided animal groups and stood often on the shoulder of at least one American president.

Socks was a pioneer who opened the door for Bush era cat India who died Jan. 4 at age 18. Ironically, India was also overshadowed by canines, the adorable Barney and so-so Miss Beazley.

Socks enjoyed sitting in the sun, eating chicken dinners and symbolizing justice and peace.

Super President! Obama beats Jesus on hero poll

President Barack Obama beat the big guy - yup, J.C. - in a poll asking American adults who they admired enough to call hero.

Martin Luther King followed Jesus Christ in the Harris Interactive poll that asked participants to name their hero, according to a February 19 press release.

OBAMA3.JPG
Super Obama?

No list of names was offered. The research company says heroes were named spontaneously during the online survey of 2,634 adults age 18 an older conducted in January. Ronald Reagan came in fourth followed in order by George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, pilot Chesley Sullenberger and Mother Teresa.

Nearly 90 percent of participants said that “doing what’s right regardless of personal consequences” makes a hero a hero.

When asked who use to be a hero but has fallen from grace, participants mentioned the following people: Colin Powell, George W. Bush, John McCain, Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy.

The poll was first conducted in 2001. That year, Jesus was the number one hero and the nation had not been introduced to Obama.

Other heroes included God, 11; Hillary Clinton, 12; Billy Graham, 13; Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi, 15; Colin Powell, Bill Clinton and George Washington, 16; Condoleeza Rice, 19; Oprah Winfrey, 20; Sarah Palin, 21; and General George S. Patton and Bill Gates, 22.

Vatican: Men more lustful than women, women prouder

As it turns out, confessions are down and both sexes are pretty darn naughty.

Sin is in and men do it differently than women, according to a London Telegraph article.

A Catholic Church report based on a study on confessions led by 95-year-old Fr. Roberto Busa says that the top sin for women is pride.

The top sin for men was the urge for food ahead of the urge for hanky to the panky.

See article here.

Top sin for men in order are lust, gluttony, sloth, anger, pride, envy and greed.

Top sins for women pride, envy, anger, lust, and sloth.

And now there are even more ways to sin.

According to the article, the Vatican updated its list of sins last year to include the following: genetic modification, experiments on the person, environmental pollution, taking or selling illegal drugs, social injustice, causing poverty and financial greed.

What do you think? What sin tops your person sin list? What would you add to the church’s list of sins?

Palin daughter says abstinence unrealistic

The creepy Octo Mom isn’t the only new mother making headlines.

In an interview Monday night with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, new mommy Bristol Palin, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s daughter, said abstinence is “not realistic at all.”

GOP_PALIN_BRISTOL_BOYFRIEND.JPG
Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston, her baby’s daddy

The younger Palin said she loves being a mom, but it is not glamorous and is a lot of hard work.

Palin encourage others to learn from her experience and to wait to have children.

“I think everyone should just wait 10 years,” she said. “It’s so much easier if you’re married, have a house and career. It’s just so much easier.”

Palin was pregnant, unmarried and 17-year-old when her mother was announced as the Republican’s vice presidential pick and a pitbull with lipstick.

Palin, now 18, said the baby was unplanned and despite her hockey mother’s anti-abortion believes, it was her choice to have the baby.

“It doesn’t matter what my mom’s views are on it. It was my decision, ” she said.

She said she hopes to marry the baby’s daddy in the future, but is now focusing on school and caring for her son.

“I am not living for myself anymore, I am living for another human being,” she said.

What do you think? Is Bristol Palin correct. Is abstinence unrealistic?

The egg-citing adventures of Octo-Mom continue.

Nadya “Octo Mom” Suleman has launched a website seeking ‘momentary’ contributions to help her care for the 14 children she conceived through vitro fertilization.

The site features pictures of crayons, blocks and the eight itsy bitsy hospitalized babies Suleman bore Jan. 26.

No other Joker? Should Heath Ledger be the last Joker?

Batman has squared off against other Jokers, but a group of Heath Ledger devotees said he was the best and should be the last actor to play the super villian.

A trio from Buenos Aires, Argentina recently launched the petition website “Heath, The Ultimate Joker” .

It calls for movie studios to withdraw the demented clown from any future Batman movies.

Heath Ledger as the Joker

The petition had 17,541 just before 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.

“Can you imagine the super human efforts film companies would have to go through to find a fourth Joker after Heath Ledger? Is a better Joker even possible to imagine? Entertainment producers ‘sorry, but it’s simply impossible’ It’s impossible to imagine, impossible to draw or dub much less repeat the performance,” the website says.

Ledger is a hot contender to win a posthumous Oscar at the Academy Awards later this month for his portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.”

Ledger died of a drug overdose in January.

Cesar Romero played the Joker in the 1960s Batman TV series and Jack Nicholson portrayed him in Tim Burton’s Batman

Springfield’s ‘small, dried child, crumbled’ recipe makes Letterman

Crumble one small, dried child and hear about it for years.

An error that appeared in a Feb. 21, 2007 “Springfield News-Sun” column written by Kim Frazier made its way to the David Letterman’s “Small Town News” segment Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Frazier’s article, “A little garlic can give any meal lots of flavor,” had the following line in a recipe for spaghetti with garlic and oil:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 small dried, child, crumbled

1 pound spaghetti 6 large garlic cloves, smashed and minced

Salt and pepper

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese ½ cup minced fresh flat-leaf parsley

Letterman was a little late, The News Sun made fun of itself the very next day in an item on the Opinion page:

Dried child a matter of taste

It didn’t take very long for readers to spot the mistake in Wednesday’s News-Sun recipe ingredients for Spaghetti with Garlic and Oil.

It turns out that even one small, dried child is hard to find, even in a specialty market.

Add to that the instruction that the dried child was to be crumbled, and we believe that most of our readers could see a culinary disaster in the making.

Nevertheless, we especially apologize to anyone who managed to make the recipe as written, to anyone included as an ingredient or to anyone who may have been served this meal.

We hope that everyone felt free to make substitutions. A dried chili comes to mind.

Our lesson? Never trust a computer spell checker to do the right thing.

Quotes: ‘That … we shut down our nuclear fuel cycle program to let talks begin. It’s no problem. But justice demands that those who want to hold talks with us shut down their nuclear fuel cycle program too. Then, we can hold dialogue under a fair atmosphere.” — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. “It was absolutely bizarre. I was thinking ‘he’s got too many legs’ and I kept counting ‘one, two, three, four.’ ” — Nicky Janaway, a duck farmer in England, who discovered a duckling on his farm had four legs.’”

With a seemingly tick infested beard, the 34-year-old actor looked like a young Grizzly Adams in dark sunglasses on the show.

He chewed gum throughout his interview Wednesday, Feb. 11, and responded to questions with one or two words.

“What can you tell us about your days with the Unibomer?” Letterman cracked.

Phoenix, a two time Oscar nominee, recently announced he was retiring from acting for a career in hip-hop.

Letterman praised Phoenix for his acting skills and said he hoped he would return to the field after taking just little time off.

“I think you’re taking little time off tonight,” the talk show host said.

Phoenix was on the show to promote his new film “Two Lovers.”

What do you think? Is Phoenix off his rocker or was it just an act? Was Letterman mean? Comment below.

Chris Brown told Tyra his mother was a domestic violence victim

Actor and R&B singer Chris Brown discussed his sad childhood and a violent relationship his mother had on an episode of the “Tyra Banks Show” that aired in late 2007.

In the clip (see it below), Brown said seeing his mother being abused taught him to never hurt a woman.

“I treat them differently, because I don’t want to go through the same thing, I don’t want to put a woman through the same thing that person put my mom through,” Brown said.

Brown said he saw his mother victimized when he was between age 7 and age 13. He said he was scare and timid as a child and use to “pee in the bed.”

Brown was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 8, on a domestic violence charge. He was later released on bail.

The victim was reportedly 20-year-old pop princess Rihanna, Brown’s girlfriend.

A Rolling Stone article described Rihanna’s injuries as “horrific.”

The singer was swollen and bruised. Her lip was split, her nose was bloody and she had contusions on both sides of her face, the website reported. Rihanna had several bite marks on her arm and fingers.

When asked why his mother took the abuse during his interview on Tyra, Brown said “I guess when a woman’s in love, she don’t look at it right.” What do you think? Comment below.

Michelle Obama Vogue cover girl, is she the new Jackie O?

She has her critics, but now there is even more proof that Michelle Obama has fashion icon potential.

Michelle_DV_20090210174204.jpg
March “Vogue”

The mom-in-chief appears on the March cover of “Vogue” magazine in a magenta silk dress designed by Jason Wu. She likes Wu.

Obama wore a white gown designed by Wu to the inauguration balls last month.

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz took portraits of Obama for the magazine.

The cover reads: “Michelle Obama the first lady the world’s been waiting for,”

“Mrs. Obama’s lithe frame—an uncommon figure for an American First Lady, let’s be honest—and her ardent championing of new names in American design have induced many to describe her as a potential ‘new Jackie Kennedy.’ But that really isn’t her. Pragmatism, not glamour, is what matters when she gets dressed,” the Vogue article written by Andre Leon Talley says.

See story here.

Obama, a trained lawyer, is only the second American first lady to make the cover of the fashion and lifestyle magazine.

Hillary Clinton made the cover in 1998 which does help the case for those who believe you have to be a fashion plate to appear on a Vogue cover.

No matter how much you like Hillary and her pants suits, you’ve got to admit she’s no Abigail Adams.

What do you think? Is Michelle Obama the next Jackie O? Comment below.

Finally, a cell phone that makes coffee

If an ultra thin, touch screen cell phone with global positioning, harmonica music playing, web browsing, coffee brewing, beard shaving and wide screen move projecting capabilities sounds too good, that’s because it is.

The Pomegranate NS08 is part of Nova Scotia, Canada’s rather clever $300,000 “Come to Life” ad campaign.

No city slickers allowed, matchmaking site for farmers only

Lonely farmers no longer have to turn to corn, chicken and cows for companionship at night.

Launched three years ago, FarmersOnly.com is dedicated to hooking up lonely people who live down on the farm.

Check out the commercials below.

The site, an exclusive dating service for “farmers, ranchers, and those who can relate to the rural and country lifestyle,” has more than 100,000 members, according to a press release.

“There have been at least 75 marriages since FarmersOnly.com began,” said site founder Jerry Miller.

Membership is $15 a month or $45 a year after a three-day free trial.

Miller, who lives in a Cleveland suburb, created the site after hearing a divorce farmer complain about online dating services crawling with clueless city slickers.

No city folks are allowed on the site. FarmersOnly.com’s slogan is “City Folks Just Don’t Get It!”

Group wants you to help stop stimulus package

A small conservative group wants you to help stop this whole economic stimulus to save the country mumbo jumbo.

An Americans For Prosperity petition is circulating around the web.

Read the petition below. Find out more about it here.

The U.S. Senate Tuesday, Feb. 10, approved a $838 billion economic stimulus bill.

House and Senate negotiators will have to work out the final details before shipping it off to Obama.

Read an Associated Press story about the bill here.

Americans For Prosperity, the grassroot group behind the website NoStimulus.com, still hopes to stop it.

Nostimulus.com has been wildly popular in recent days. At one point, the the site crashed.

Americans For Prosperity hopes the site became “a focal point for all of the groups and individuals that want to fight back,” the website says.

What do you think? Comment below.

Follow the jump to read the petition addressed to senators.

The petition reads as follows:

Dear Senator:

On behalf of the members of Americans for Prosperity, I am writing to urge you to vote against the so-called American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Congress should not enact an expensive spending bill under the pretense of stimulus or recovery. No matter which amendments pass, the fundamental approach of dramatically increasing federal debt and spending is a mistake. We therefore urge you to vote NO and will rate a vote against the so-called stimulus as a Key Vote for Prosperity in our Congressional ratings.

As I write this letter, more than 42,000 (ed. 60,000 now) Americans have signed a petition on our web site, NoStimulus.com, and thousands more will likely sign it before you read this letter. They represent a growing majority of the American public who agree with the petition text:

“Congress should not enact an expensive spending bill under the pretense of stimulus or recovery. We cannot spend our way to prosperity, and such an expansion of the federal government will put a crushing burden on taxpayers in the long-term.”

Central planning and bigger government cannot solve our problems. Excessive borrowing to fund consumption was a major cause of our current economic crisis. The first rule of holes is to stop digging, and more than $1 trillion of additional borrow-and-spend big government will only throw more good money after bad. Instead of trying to pick winners and losers from Washington, Congress should cut spending, strip down burdensome regulations and allow individuals and free enterprise to flourish.

We therefore urge you to vote no on the stimulus, regardless of which amendments pass and regardless of any individual provisions that may look attractive.

Sincerely,

Tim Phillips, President

Police: man arrested for parking lot love-fest with blowup dolls

You can call it a menage tois, but that wouldn’t be exactly accurate.

In a rather inflated show of public affection, a 51-year-old underwear-less man was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 4, after families told police they spotted him getting it on with two blowup sex dolls in a Florida grocery store parking lot.

Witnesses said they saw George Bartusek making out with the dolls, bouncing them up and down and otherwise simulated sexual activity inside a car, according Florida’s News-Press.com and other reports.

See article from News-Press.com here.

See TV news story below.

Bartusek allegedly told police he was in the area to buy his plastic lady friends clothes at a nearby Target.

He was charged with breach of peace.

FAA: celebrity pilot made inflight porno

Well, I suppose it’s a good thing he can multitask.

A chopper pilot to the stars is in hot water with the Federal Aviation Administration for allegedly making a sex tape with a XXX porn actress during a 2007 flight over San Diego.

The FAA is also investigating allegations that David Martz, with rocker Tommy Lee on board, recently flew too close to a Los Angeles police chopper, San Diego’s KFMB-TV reported Thursday, Feb. 5.

A heavily edited tape showing apparent sex acts between Martz and topless porn star Puma Swede is on TMZ.com.

When confronted by TMZ, Martz reportedly said “that’s how we roll… It’s no big deal.”

Martz and Swede were all smiles and giggles during the naught flight, but the FAA is not happy, not happy at all.

“Generally speaking, a pilot should be focusing on the act of flying and not be distracted by anything else,” FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said told the California TV station.

See KFMB-TV’s report here.

What do you think? If guilty, what should be David Martz’s punishment? Comment below.

What would you give up to have an ‘awesome Valentine’s Day?’

It’s far from Lent, but women are apparently willing to give up a lot to have “an awesome” V-Day, Feb. 14.

Forty five percent of the women to respond to the January “Valentine’s Day: Heaven or Hell?” online survey by BlogHer and iVillage said they would sacrifice “something” for a month to have “an awesome Valentine’s Day.”

  • 8 percent said they’d give up “anything.”

-10 percent said they would give up chocolate

  • 9 percent said they would give up alcohol

  • 5 percent said they would give up TV

  • 5 percent said they would give up sex

  • 5 percent said they would give up coffee

  • 3 percent said they would give up the Internet

But fret not V-Day haters. You were represented.

Nineteen percent of survey takers said they wouldn’t give up anything because the holiday is meaningless.

I’d give up washing the dishes.

What would you give up for a month to have an awesome Valentine’s Day?

Do you consider Valentine’s Day an expense holiday invented by the wicked greeting card establishment to drive women crazy and bankrupt men?

Certain phones, computers to visually ‘track’ lovers, friends, kids

“Big Brother” might not be watching, but your parents, friends and lovers maybe.

An upgrade to Google’s mobile maps dubbed “Latitude” will allow users to see just were friends and family members are by plotting their locations on a map with a photo personal picture.

For now, the service which can be installed on personal computers, will work with only certain cell phones. There are plans to expand it. See the Associated Press story here.

It will make it harder for husbands to secretly visit strip clubs. Boy-crazed teenage girls won’t be able to falsely claim they slept over Jenny’s house when they really spent all night making out with that kid with the peach fuzz and sideburns.

The software, which uses GPS, cell phone towers and Wi-fi connections, was introduced Wedneday, Feb. 4. The system can follow people’s travels in the United States and 26 other countries.

To avoid a backlash from privacy advocates, the AP reports that Google is requiring each user to manually turn on the tracking software and making it easy to turn off or limit access to the service.

Google also promises not to retain any information about its users’ movements. And each user will decide who can monitor their location, the AP reported.

Still sounds a little “Enemy of the State” to me.

Besides, does anyone really need to instantly know if you are at Taco Bell again or near the OBGYN’s office in Kettering.

What do you think? Is this creepy or cool?

Kidney delivered through vagina, donated to niece

Of all the things to come out of one’s vagina, doctors on Tuesday, Feb. 2, reported the delivery of a healthy (hopefully it wasn’t bouncing) kidney through a donor’s lady business.

The fist-size kidney weighed about one pound.

No word on gender or if the doctor smacked the kidney on the bottom after its birth.

The kidney was donated to the donor’s niece which sort of sounds creepy but really is a nice thing to do when you think about it.

More than 78,000 people are on the national waiting list to receive kidneys from deceased donors.

Cancerous and non-functioning kidneys have been removed from vaginas in the past. But this is the first time a donor’s healthy kidney was “born” this way.

Vaginas deliver more than you may think.

Gallbladders and appendixes have also been removed through vajayjays.

Read The Associated Press story here.

image_8367270-1.jpg
Kim Johnson (AP photo)

Donor Kimberly Johnson, 48, and her niece, Jennifer Gilbert, 23, were both doing well following operations Thursday Jan. 29.

“Removing the kidney through a natural opening should hasten the patient’s recovery and provide a better cosmetic result,” Dr. Robert Montgomery, Johns Hopkins Medical Center chief of transplant surgery, said in a John Hopkins press release. And the hits from Montgomery kept coming.

Johnson said it was easier than giving birth and gall bladder surgery.

Doctors hope the operation - which was less invasive in the medical sense than traditional surgeries - will encourage others to donate.

The surgery left three pea-size scars on Johnson stomach. One is hidden in her naval.

Traditional kidney removal surgery leaves a 5- to 6-inch scar.

What do you think? Would you be more likely to donate an organ if you could do it through your vagina?

The weather-predicting rodent was apparently upset that Bloomberg had teased him with a corn-on-the-cob.

He nipped the mayor’s hand, drawing a little blood. The mayor faces no risk of rabies because Chuck has lived his whole life in captivity, Bloomberg.com said.
