Church picnic checklist - potato salad, hot dogs, GUNS
Egg salad and bratwursts won’t be the only things packed for a picnic hosted by a new Louisville area church.
The pastor of New Bethel Church in Kentucky is encouraging his flock to pack heat, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported Wednesday, June 3.
The church will have an “Open Carry Church Service” June 27.
Pastor Ken Pagano, a conceal carry weapons instructor, wants people to wear unloaded, holstered guns.
A handgun will be raffled for $1 during the picnic.
The church began planning for the picnic a year ago. Pagano said it was galvanized by the November election.
“We needed to do something kind of pro,” he says in a video posted on the courier-journal.com. “There are level-headed, educated, God-fearing, community-minded people who are also gun owners and shoot. And it is as much a sport as anything else.”
He says there is no reason a church should not have such an event.
“Without a deep-seated belief in God and firearms this country wouldn’t be here,” the pastor say.

More Republican than Christian… I presume that what you are saying is that Republicans believe in unalienable rights and the Democrats don’t. As for the Sermon on the Mount, there are many verses in the same bible regarding defending yourself. Now that’s a church I might not mind going to. Now I ask you, ” Why has the government never made such a concerted effort to remove guns from the criminals as they do law-abiding citizens?”
