English adds millionth word, “Web 2.0” beats “Financial Tsunami”
The English language has a lot to say.
The language hit the millionth word mark at 5:22 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 10, according to Global Language Monitor, a website that tracks word usage and word choices.
A new English word is created every 98 minutes, the Austin, Texas website says.
English includes more words than any other language, but the website’s findings are controversial.
Some linguists say the because languages constantly change, it is impossible to have an exact word count, , according to CNN.
That said, “Web 2.0” edged out “Financial Tsunami,” word 1,000,001, according to the site.
Web 2.0 refers to the next generation of World Wide Web products and services.
We all know to well the definition of Financial Tsunami.
