Crocs may soon be dead in the water
Score one for Croc haters.
The manufacturer behind the controversial, er, shoe is heading for the snapping jowls of death, according to published reports.
Who says the recession is all bad?
“The company’s toast,” Damon Vickers, investment fund manager, told the Washington Post “They’re zombie-ish. They’re dead and they don’t know it.”
It seems the Colorado-based company has too many reptiles in the water.
The company is stuck with a super surplus of horrible vented clogs and more debt than it can shake a government bailout at.
Last year it lost more than $185 million and cut roughly 2,000 jobs, the Post said.
But don’t celebrate yet, Croc haters. The company’s new chief executive officer has reason to hope, he tells Britian’s Telegraph in an article that predicts the company will soon file bankruptcy.
He tells the paper that Crocs can find new life with medical workers and caterer-types.
“There are more than 100 million consumers in 125 countries that love our product. It’s an icon and whether people love it or hate it, they talk about it,” he said.
What do you think? Will you mourn for Crocs?

25 local teens rewarded with Taylor Swift Concert tickets
Helping others will land 25 area kids seats at tonight’s Taylor Swift concert in Columbus.
The Miami Teen Camp members were stunned to learn that they will be rewarded for their work on the Aug. 9 Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Miami Valley Fun Day, said Jessica Peake, a board member of Indian Hills 4-H Camp near Troy.
Miami Teen Camp is a branch of Indian Hill 4-H Camp for youth ages 14 to 21.
“These kids have done a lot of work,” Peake said. “Our kids are so excited.”
And she said they are humble and appreciative.
“They said ‘we don’t need this to do this event,’” she said.
The tickets are compliment of Best Buy’s @15 Fund and Taylor Swift. The group will also get a guitar autographed by Swift.
@15 is a teen social networking platform that encourages youth to lead social change.
It is also the charitable partner of the Swift’s 2009 Fearless tour. Swift, 19, has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts.
The “Our Song” singer’s concert at the Schottenstein Center begins at 7:30 p.m.
