George Bush disses himself

Proving that politicians are always funnier after they leave office, former President George Bush cracked on his own reputation while talking about his book to be released this November, Politico reports.

“This is going to come as quite a shock to people up here that I can write a book, much less read one,” Bush said Friday, Feb. 26, at a Bush Cheney Alumni Association at a Washington hotel.

Cheney, who is recovering from a mild heart attack, did not attend the breakfast.

Bush, the 43rd president, said he is trying to stay out of the public eye.

“I have no desire to see myself on television. I don’t want to be a panel of formers instructing the currents on what to do,” he said according to Politico. “I’m trying to regain a sense of anonymity. I didn’t like it when a certain former president — and it wasn’t 41 or 42 — made my life miserable.”

Bush’s joke was apparently about Jimmy Carter, the 39th president.

What do you think?

I think Jimmy Carter is about as big of a puck as Barry Obamer. He needs to stick with building houses for welfare mammas. He did one thing in his term, gave away the Panama Canal.

There is a lot missing in our Hallowed Halls of Congress. Diplomacy, ethics, morals, courtesy, intelligence and the reason for being there-the good of not the party per se but the PEOPLE who voted them in. No one is ever totally right nor totally wrong. People work together for the “common good.”

I love President Bush and really miss his sense of humor. He was a kind man who stood firm in what he believes in. I love my First Lady Laura too…what a true LADY!!

Bush 43 is a nice enough chap, but his policies helped lead us into the worst recession since the 70s. It will take years to fix all of the problems created during the Bush years. It will be interesting to see how he characterizes his years in the upcoming book.

… and leave Jimmy Carter alone! He has done more for humanity than most former presidents.

Wildflower…the economy under Bush was rather good (considering what happened on 9/11), until Dems took the House & Senate in 2007. Then things went south quickly.

It’s funny how THEY say Bush is the reason for the economy. NO! This country had how many months of economic growth under W. Something like 6 years. Barry is going to put us all in he poor house. All he’s doing is stealing from the successful and giving to the failures. like Robinhood. We us to be a tough country as a whole. But now the all takers are just soft.

Economic surplus before Bush. Deficit after. The democratic congress was barely in office before the recession began in 2008 so that’s a cheap and easy way out. Why do republicans refuse to accept any responsibility for their actions? Perhaps the billions of dollars spent on the search for WMD’s and a war based on Bush’s own personal vendeta had an effect on the US economy afterall? Hmmm…

The one thing you can say about the Bush family they do have character and integrity. As far as Jimmy Carter he’ll no be the second worst president in my life. Current president has stepped right in there and taken over the number one spot. If this administration is allowed to continue on the path there on for three more years it could take a couple of generations to get this country back. All I ask is for real Americans to vote this coming November.

Let me get this straight - the Dems were barely in office in 2008 - try 2006 and as far as the surplus in the 90’s it was the Rep in charge after 40 years of Dems in control of the house. Guess they (Dems) couldn’t buy into welfare reform. It takes 2 to tango and the Dems were dancing with Bush. he didn’t do everything correctly but it wasn’t all his fault. Guess if you’re a Bush hatter he’s the only one you can blame. By the way:Bush to be honored by the Obama Administration The Obama Administration will be honoring the 43rd President of the United States. It has asked the U. S. Board of Geographical Names to name the fault-line in the tectonic area beneath Haiti after him. The area will now officially be referred to as “Bush’s Fault”.

ahhhh…dodging any responsibility again I see. Of course. Repubs never accept any responsibility. Late response to Katrina was Obama’s fault too I’m sure. All this finger pointing and blaming the democrats for al woes is why we are in the boat we are. Bipartisan politics was invented by the right and proliferated still today. Congrats. You win…I think?

May not have been Jimmy Carter at all. Isn’t the White House supposedly ‘haunted’—could’ve been any bygone presidents making life miserable for Bush. Some people pick up on that type of stuff more so than others!

If anyone knows anything about the Katrina response, the FEDS have to wait until the GOV of the state declares a state of emergency. All the other states declared BEFORE Katrina hit. That is why they received aid quickly. Lousiana didnt declare until AFTER the hurricane hit, thus aid didnt come as quick. Additionaly, the DEM controlled local govt didnt use FED money to strengthen the levees, they stifened it off for other things not associated with what the money was to be used for. Ignorance is bliss, therefore it must be nice to be a DEM..

Bush almost destroyed our country! With his policies of war and keeping this country addicted to oil from getting nothing on return except alot of people have died for his total failure!

Jimmy Carter will go down in history as the worst president in history. Anything that comes out of his pie hole is irrelevant. He goes gallivanting around the globe to police states declaring rigged elections legitimate. He is a classless idiot.

c’mon man…..Jimmy Carter is the 2nd worst prez we’ve ever had. Obama is number one, his level of arrogance and unwillingness to listen is disturbing. Bush was arrogant, but this guy takes the cake. When you think about it, he is a pro-business guy, he wants to be everyone’s partner and that’s the road we’re headed down. Its a strange deal the guy is so far in over his head, he’ll never get out. Telling McCain to quit campaining is funny….he is void of reality, he’s still campaigning.

Yeah, red I couldn’t believe that one either. If I had not followed the run up to the election and watched and listened to what Obama was saying, I would not have believed all of the lies that have come out of his mouth. It is truly disturbing.

If karon had half a brain, she would know that the DEMS are the ones who keep us addicted to foreign oil…the repubs constantly try to build nuke plants, drill and refine or own oil. It is the DEMS that block every move, keeping us addicted to the foreign supply…what a freaking doofus..Take a train the hell out of here karon

Sarge, Karon is like that on every blog. I value all opinions, but even when every logical block is stacked against her, she will not adimit she is wrong. It’s just like the trains. She believes “Taken For A Ride” was a documentary.

President Bush had this sense of humor through his entire career as a public servant. It was ignored by journalists because it is an endearing quality; the media does not cover any favorable trait of any Republican official, because this would reveal how much more decent and human they are compared w/ your average DemonRat. Basic math.

Can any of you whiny right-wing nut jobs admit anything that you believe Bush did wrong while in office, maybe disparage some of his lies? Perhaps I should call him Mush, since half the people on this board seem to think it’s funny and poignant to call the President stupid grade school nick-names, as well as his party as a whole. Talk about being in denial! No doubt you weren’t touting your empty opinions when your beloved warmonger was in office. So nothing is Bush’s fault, the years under his leadership were awesome for our country, and all Democrats are loony and ignorant? Talk about drinking the kool-aid!
