Local students finalist to win $150,000 bus in ‘Greenest’ contest

Stivers School for the Arts students think they are the greenest in the nation.

The students’ entry is among 10 selected as finalist in the 2010 America’s Greenest School Contest.

Students were asked to submit photo collections, music, videos, essays, or photos of dioramas, collage or piece of artwork demonstrating what they would do if you were in charge of making their school greener and more eco-friendly.

Voting ends April 2.

The winner will receive: one author prize of $3,000; one entrant/sponsor prize of $500 for supplies for the author’s classroom; one school prize: an IC Bus CE Series hybrid electric bus valued at $150,000; a LEED certified “green” school audit and environmental upgrade valued at $20,000; and a free concert by The Maine.
