UD senior is first CW star
Emily Szink, a graduating senior at the University of Dayton, has been named Dayton’s first CW Star and will receive a $20,000 part-time contract with WBDT-TV. The announcement was made on March 23 during America’s Next Top Ten Model.
The search started in January with two location auditions. The contestants were then narrowed down to nine finalists and 25 semi-finalists. The tenth finalist was selected via web votes. Over the past few weeks, the Top 10 finalists performed different tasks including a promotion shoot, attendance at community events, an interview with 2 NEWS anchor Pam Elliot, and a final interview with WBDT-TV management.
Emily was selected, according to the station’s brand manager Shasta Scarberry, because of her “charisma and style.”
