Boonshoft gets 3 new otters replace Shiloh and Sushi
The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery just welcomed three new balls of water-loving energy.
Three juvenile male river otters have been introduced to the public and a contest is underway to give them a names.
Submission to name the brothers from the Columbus Zoo can be made at BoonshoftMuseum.org through Sunday, June 5.
A winner will be announced on June 20. He or she will receive a plaque by the otter enclosure and an behind-the-scene tour of the zoo.
The Boonshoft has recently been reaccredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
The three otters replace Shiloh and Sushi who were transferred last month as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquarium’s Species Survival Plan. They are being mated with female otters in Salisbury, Md. and Boston to help ensure a healthy gene pool in the captive otter population.
Shiloh joined the Boonshoft in 2004. Sushi came in 2006.
