Here’s where you can find free food on Election Day

A chicken sandwich, a cuppa joe, a donut, and a scoop of ice cream, all free, all just for turning out to vote. Is this a great country or what?

Here’s a map that shows the Dayton area’s Chick-fil-As, Ben & Jerry’s and Krispy Kreme. For the locations of local Starbucks, click on this Starbucks store locator link.

And here’s a story that ran in this morning’s (11-4-08) Dayton Daily News:

Call it a progressive dinner, Election Day-style.

At least four restaurant chains have confirmed that their Dayton-area eateries will be handing out free food today, Nov. 4, to those who voted.

For your entree, Chick-fil-A’s Dayton-area restaurants are offering free chicken sandwiches to those sporting an “I Voted” sticker today only. The sandwiches sell on the regular menu for $2.69. The free sandwiches are limited to one per voter, said Joel Green, unit marketing director for Chick-fil-A’s Dayton-area restaurants, which include two in Beavercreek, two in the Ohio 725 area and one lunchtime-only restaurant in downtown Dayton.

For a beverage (or, perhaps, a pre-dinner libation to keep you awake for the drive around town), voters can enjoy a free cup of coffee from any area Starbucks. All that’s required is for guests to tell the Starbucks folks that you voted, according to the offer described on www.starbucks.com.

And on to the dessert course: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will give one free star-shaped doughnut with red, white and blue sprinkles to customers wearing an “I Voted Today” sticker. The Dayton area’s only Krispy Kreme is located at 2001 E. Dorothy Lane in Kettering.

Finally — or, the finale — Ben & Jerry’s is giving out free scoops of ice cream, one to a customer, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. tonight. The free scoops are not limited to voters, but rather, are being given out to “celebrate democracy,” according to the ice cream maker’s web site, www.benandjerrys.com.

Chill out and get over yourself. Who cares if companies are offering free stuff? If u don’t like it, don’t go get it. If you think it’s a good way to reward those who do vote then go have you some. Either way, GROW UP. There are more important things to debate.

That person talking about DDN (liberal/ democratic newspaper) giving out info about free stuff. Who, none other than George Bush giving out free money to the big banks. Free sandwiches, ice cream and donuts is nothing compared to billion of dollars.

Hey T, I’m a democrat but not a jobless wonder. I went to Starbucks today for a cup of coffee, and guess what? I PAID FOR IT! They only offered plain coffee for free and I wanted flavored coffee, so I plunked down my $3.50 and waited in a huge line full of McCain supporters who were only there for the FREE coffee. Guess now we know how all you republitards got your money!

Unlike “t” I think it’s nice that some businesses think that voting and being a responsible citizen is worth recognizing. Only a keep everything for me republican would see it as a reason to degrade those that are out of work and having hard times

I figured that a liberal/democratic newspaper such as the DDN, would post places where you can get something for nothing. Typical, now all the jobless wonders of the city can vote and go get something for free. MCCAIN PALIN 2008

Hey, I just wanted to update you on Bagel Cafe. There were many comments on how dirty the Kettering location has been. Well, Nancy must be reading this blog…because I have been to the Kettering location twice in the past two weeks. Floors and tables were noticeably cleaner. Great service and Nancy was in attendance both times. The bagels are great and hopefully Nancy will keep being visible. Next on her list should be to hire for a “deep cleaning”—vents in the ceilings…walls. Just wanted to acknowledge that I have seen a difference…and I am glad…I do not want to see the Kettering store close.
