New restaurant opens in Kettering
(Looking for restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving Day or to add yours to the list? Click here to go straight to it.)
Siam Pad Thai has opened at 3027 Wilmington Pike in Kettering.
The 30-seat restaurant opened in the location that formerly housed the China Chef restaurant. Siam Pad Thai offers Thai dishes as well as an extensive menu of sushi and sashimi. It is owned and operated by Pakawan “Fon” Christman, who helped introduce Thai cuisine to the Yummy Burger, a downtown Dayton diner, and who also was co-owner of Ban Thai restaurant (now House of Thai) in the Beaver Valley Shopping Center in Beavercreek.
The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and carryout is available. For more information, call (937) 293-9606.

I don’t think the article was meant to be so controversial. They just stated the fact that a new restaurant would open. If all articles were about job loss, (they already have enough of those stories on the front page) I would not even care to read the paper. However I’ve been to Siam Pad Thai twice already and I love it. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious!

My husband and I ate at Siam Pad Thai for dinner last night. I can sum it up with one word…FANTASTIC!! Kudos on great service, great price and great food! The only thing lacking was more seating and atmosphere, but hey, I can live with that considering you can now have the best Thai food…in Kettering! Try their soft rolls..they are the best in town.

I hope the quality will be better than the previous Chinese restaurant. They will still need to contend with what I consider the best Chinese restaurant in the area just around the corner- the Chop Suey Carryout(except for the eggrolls- they suck). Looking forward to some good Thai!!!!

How soon until people bring up Obama and so many other off-topic comments that always creep up on these boards. Julie, why do you turn to article comments for holiday ideas? As if there’s a lack of those throughout the world.

@Great-n-Dayton - that is exactly like being in the first class section of the Titantic and saying who cares about the lower levels filling with water, we’re all ok up here. This region will learn the hard way that it is tied directly to the city, and if the city is allowed to die then the rest of the region will die right with it. New restaurants surviving will be the least of all your worries.

In this economy, anyone who is willing to go out on a limb and open a new business - any business - is newsworthy and deserves kudos.

The southern suburbs are part of Dayton, that’s why they’re called the suburbs.

@Julie — you are so right! Why doesn’t DDN have comments on ALL its articles and blogs? And why on earth can’t they improve their stupid system to make posting comments go much more quickly? That’s why some people double-post, because the DDN site is so darn slow.

Note to Julie: The article says the restaurant opened in Kettering. That means it will probably stand a chance to stay open. If it was in Dayton it would be doomed to fail and close in less that 12 months. Kettering and the south suburbs are still alive. Dayton is dead.

DDN has comments for the dumbest articles. So a new restaurant opened, big deal, it’ll close in a year. Why not set up comments on the article for people trying to make ends meet after a job loss and have a nice Christmas? Could have gotten a ton of reader ideas for the holidays from that story.

Great news! Fon’s a fantastic cook. I know where I’ll be going for dinner tonight.
