Ohio’s only 4-star restaurant to close Feb. 28
Strangeness in Cincinnati: On the heels of the Mobil Dining Guide announcement that Jean-Robert at Pigall’s would retain its four-star status — making it Ohio’s only four-star restaurant — Jean-Robert at Pigall’s owners have announced they will close the restaurant on Feb. 28.
Co-owner Martin Wade told the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Polly Campbell that he and his wife Marilyn Wade “haven’t made a penny” from the restaurant since it opened eight years ago. “It’s a beautiful place, but in good conscience, I couldn’t keep it open,” Wade told the newspaper.
Just after the four-star announcement. Bizarre.

Judy and James sorry that mid-western family values and morals aren’t “classy”. MOVE else-where if you don’t like it.

Judi, “High-end” clothes, entertainment, decorating, etc. has NOTHING to do with class.

Mark, I have no idea what is so bizzare about them closing. It was probably a coincidence that they announced their closing after they once again recevied the four star rating. I doubt he woke up one morning and said”What the hell, lets just close after we receive are four star rating.” I’m sure they have been thinking about closing for awhile.

Well, Judi, if Ohio is such a terrible place, why not move? I’m sure the state will survive without you. New York is trendy, and bring your wallet, you’ll need it.

I’ve never heard of the place before reading the article yesterday. I guess that the owners thought that Mobil’s dining guide was a good substitute for advertising. A lot of business failures are the result of failure to advertise.

Well, Ohio is not an up -and-coming area for high -end anything. Food, clothes, entertainment, decorating…Cincinnatiand Columbus are the best places. Maybe they should try somewhere else, with a little class.

Maybe they could go on Ramsey’s Kitchen nightmares and have Gordon revamp them for free

It’s sad, but I know from experience what Wade means. He gave it a good shot but the volume of business just probably wasn’t what was needed.

Perhaps after being labeled a 4 star restaurant, they felt they should have been making 4 star profits… Maybe, just maybe that is the reason!
