Burned woman sues Burger King over spilled coffee
An 18-year-old Florida woman has sued Burger King after she was burned by spilled coffee served to her by the fast-food restaurant, according to this story from BayNews9.com.
The coffee caused second and third degree burns to the woman’s thighs after it spilled on her lap, according to the lawsuit and the BayNews9 story. The coffee “burned through her skin to the muscle,” the lawsuit and story say.
The lawsuit is certainly reminiscent of the infamous McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit, which became a poster child for frivolous lawsuits and large awards, though based on the details of the case, it didn’t sound so frivolous.

The McD lawsuit was the the poster child sure, but if you ever read or knew the whole story behind it, then you would understand that the media created a complete fabrication. The myth is the complete opposite of what really happened. Mc D was horribly and repeatedly negligent. It’s sad when the media continues to perpetuate the McD myth. h

This is what’s wrong with America! These idiotic lawsuits are the reason why everything costs so much for the rest of us normal, hard working folks. John Stossel goes into this topic in his Myths and Lies book.

Maybe this was her first try at hot coffee. She was only 18 and maybe only has been drinking that iced coffee. Pay up B.K. you should have warned her.

I am confused. Did an employee spill the coffee on her or did she spill it on herself in the car? Big difference.

Our 7 year old daughter was burned last month by coffee from McDonalds. She had 2nd degree burns from the hot coffee. The thought never crossed our minds to sue McDonalds. Remember this is a 7 year old little girl, she still has a scar. Delicious coffee is made with extra extra hot water. Hopefully the lawsuits don’t prevent us from being able to get a great cup of coffee because a couple of people who got burned are GREEDY enough to sue large corporations which only causes their insurance rates to rise and in the end all the rest of us including our 7 year old little girl pay for this tragedy.

It is not unreasonable to feel pain if you spill coffee on yourself. It is entirely unreasonable when you receive second and third-degree burns when coffee is spilled on you. That’s why the first woman won and this woman probably will, too.

Once again proving in public record that someone is dumber than a cup of coffee.

OK - read the article. What possesses a person to order 5 cups of HOT coffee and try to handle them, at the drive thru without a passenger to assist. I know accidents happen but cmon folks, be real. USE UR HEAD……
