New pizza chain coming to Dayton area
Jet’s Pizza — a Sterling Heights, Mich.-based chain specializing in Sicilian-style deep-dish pizza — will open a carry-out restaurant at 5843 Far Hills Ave. in Washington Twp. in September, according to its franchise owner.
Pete Marrocco of Shelby Twp., Michigan, said he plans to open more Jet’s Pizza carryout and delivery restaurants in the Dayton area if the Washington Twp. location is successful. Marrocco, whose son-in-law is the franchisee of three Jet’s restaurants in Michigan, said no specific sites have been selected, but he is considering the Springboro and Beavercreek areas.
Jet’s has locations in other Ohio cities, including the Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo areas. The Washington Twp. location — located in a small strip shopping center between Caribou Cofffee and a Midas car-repair shop, near the soon-to-open Rumble Seat Wine — is scheduled to open the first or second week of September if renovations go smoothly, Marrocco said.
The restaurant will offer carryout and delivery, with no inside seating. The new Jet’s will be open seven seven days a week and specializes in square-cut, deep-dish pizza, Marrocco said. Construction is just getting started in earnest, although the restaurant already has hung a “coming soon” banner visible to drivers on Far Hills Avenue.
When it opens, the Washington Twp. restaurant’s phone number will be (937) 434-4400.

Been to Brooklyn. Good pizza. Been to Chicago. Good pizza. Been to Sicily and Naples. Good pizza. There’s good pizza almost everywhere, we’re not talking haute cusine here. Not hard to make, although it’s probably the best thing a hole like Brooklyn can do, not much else to be proud of there.By nyc

I’m Italian. The words “deep dish pizza” is an oxymoron. What this place needs is a good NEAPOLITAN pizza place that has a wood fired oven of at least 700+ degrees farenheit. THAT’S real pizza. NOT this “deep dish” krap…By Kathy

Jets is the better of the Michigan-based regional/national chains (i.e. Little Sleazers, Dominos, Hungry Howies, etc). However, I’d still take a good Cassano’s, LaRosa’s or Marions over it any day of the week.By Picky about Pizza

Jet’s Pizza is actually very good and very authentic Italian pizza. I am Italian and from Michigan and have family there and we often have Jets Pizza when we go for a visit. I am very happy that it’s coming to our neighborhood!!By mark

I will not support Marions Pizza as they never support local sports teams. They never help any of these clubs that bring in there teams for a pizza party. I will always support Laroza’s as they are always helping any community that they are located in for local groups in there area. Marions is just greedy and overrated pizza joint.By funnyone

I also like to try out new pizza places (when I have heard they are good). My first job was at Godfather’s pizza! Unfortunately, I remember back in the 80’s and my sister worked at Godfathers too and the place was held up, she had a gun up to her. But thank God no one was hurt. I can’t even remember what Godfather’s tasted like. Anyhow, I look forward to trying Jets.By englewood pizza fan

If you like great pizza and live near Englewood you should try Mombo’s Pizza & Subs. They are family owned and have great pizzas. I live in Kettering and eat there whenever I am in the area. Just try it, you’ll love it too.By Sangal

I remember Godfathers Pizza days back in 70-80’s in Miami Valley until their business got slowed down, shut down Englewood and some other areas. and 20 years later they made comeback to Huber Heights, I was in heaven and happy. but I live in Beavercreek, I wish they have opened lunch hours instead of waiting 4pm to open. The work schedule is difficult to commute to Huber Heights but Its best sicily style pizza. I would love the Godfathers open the Greene Location that will boost their business and expand. Someone please open another business !!By FreedomWriter
