Grand opening for ‘Boulevard Haus’ German restaurant tomorrow

Cafe Boulevard, 329 East Fifth St. in Dayton’s Oregon Historic District, will officially become Boulevard Haus on Saturday, Nov. 28, according to this email blast sent out by the restaurant’s owner, Eva Brcic-Christian.

Brcic-Christian announced Oct. 1 that Cafe Boulevard would morph into a “modern, casual German restaurant and bar,” and tomorrow’s grand opening completes the transformation.

Diners who come dressed in a traditional German outfit Saturday will get 50 percent off their dinner. To make reservations for the grand opening, call (937) 824-2722.

A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO DAYTON. AS A GERMAN I MUST SAY THAT THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE EVERY TIME (HAVE BEEN THERE 5 TIMES ALREADY) FOR GREAT PRICES - CHEAPER THAN I THOUGHT. THE SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL AND THEY HAVE GREAT BEERS ON DRAFT AND WONDERFUL NEW MARTINIS! I WILL BE GOING BACK, VERY AUTHENTIC - THANK YOU

PH - I was there and sat next to your table. You were rude, just plain rude to your server and made everyone else sitting around you feel uncomfortable.

I went here on Friday, Dec. 4 with a party of 7. The food was great but the service was awful. 45 minutes just to get bread on the table. Over an hour for food. 2 plates of food were cold. Drink glasses empty with no offer if we wanted more. We were hearing “I’m so sorry” from much of the staff at many tables around us.

We are devoid of German restaurants in this area, so I wish them well. Sure, there’s always Amber Rose with their Eastern European flair, but how much else is there? You must havve missed Frisco Freddie’s in Fairborn, Wally? They had “german” offerings that were very much not authentic.

Having been a long time guest of Cafe Boulevard I was pleasantly surprised by the changes at Boulevard Haus. The new menu is extensive as well as reasonable. entrees any where from $8.95 - $19.95. I personally had a meal with drinks for $25. The staff seemed REALLY excited by the changes. Eva looked wonderful in her traditional dirndl as well as Jessica the hostess and many guests. I look forward to many more years of visiting the Boulevard Haus. Thank you Eva for bringing a new restaurant choice to Dayton!

Eva…on behalf of the Oregon District Business Association, I wish you great success! We look forward to another great dining experience in Dayton’s regional entertainment hub with its independent restaurants and taverns and galleries!

Mark, I hope you can do a quick review of this. One of the things I miss in Dayton is a German restaurant (or maybe I just don’t know any in the area). Several years ago I went to an office function at Neil’s and the Hunter Schnitzel came on a bun without any sauce!

good luck eva, though i don’t think this will help you avoid bankruptcy. hopefully you’re treating your employees and co-workers better these days than you have in the past, it could help to make things easier for you.
