Sub House closes Kettering store; new Salem Ave. shop to open next week
The Submarine House at 2609 Wilmington Pike in Kettering has closed, although the small Dayton-based chain says it’s looking for a location to reopen a larger bar-and-grill-style restaurant in the Kettering area to replace it, according to Jason Danner, co-owner of the Submarine House.
And another new Submarine House is scheduled to open next week at 3598 Salem Ave., replacing a shop that had operated at 2051 Salem Ave., Danner said. The new sub shop will retain the same phone number as its predecessor: (937) 274-1755.
Danner said a franchise agreement with the owner of the Kettering store expired. The Kettering restaurant had been in operation for over a decade and felt the impact of local job cuts, including the closing of the General Motors truck-assembly plant in Kettering, he said. But Danner and other family members who are part of the Submarine House ownership are looking for a suitable location for a successor restaurant.
“We plan on reopening a bigger and better Submarine House in the Kettering area in the future,” Danner said.
Submarine House currently operates six stores in the Dayton area.
