Miamisburg restaurant, closed since 2007, to reopen
MIAMISBURG — The Alex’s Continental Restaurant and banquet center — which closed nearly three years ago — is gearing up to reopen this summer, according to the building’s owner and a Realtor who has been working on the project.
A banner strung across the restaurant’s sign in front of 125 Monarch Lane near the I-75/Ohio 725 interchange reads, “Opening soon: Let us plan your event/party/wedding. Seating up to 400. … Now hiring all positions.”
The building’s owner, Alex Pragalos, said he has leased the facility. Ray Rotellini of Ray Rotellini Realty, who is assisting in the efforts to reopen the restaurant and banquet center, said the reopening could occur as early as July.
Rotellini and Pragolos said Reece Powers III, the owner of Duke’s Restaurant in West Carrollton, is also assisting in the reopening. Rotellini said Powers is a strong candidate to be hired as the restaurant/banqueet center’s manager. Powers’ West Carrollton restaurant has been ordered closed by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas M. Rose in a trademark-infringement and breach-of-contract lawsuit. Powers could not be reached.
Pragalos closed Alex’s Continental Restaurant and its lounge in the spring of 2007 and the banquet center in August 2007. The center has hosted hundreds of high school reunions, wedding receptions and other special events in the 34 years it was open.
