New Asian restaurant opens near Dayton Mall, another on the way near UD
A new restaurant called Pho Mi Vietnamese Restaurant has opened at 8990 Kingsridge Drive in Miami Twp. near the Dayton Mall, and a Chinese eatery to be called North Village Chinese Restaurant is coming soon to the Brown Street/University of Dayton area.
Pho Mi is located behind the McDonald’s on the corner of Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) in Kingsridge, in a building that formerly housed the India Palace restaurant. Pho Mi is owned by Tho Pham and Mui Pham of Xenia and operated by their son Phu Pham and his wife Ling Pham, also of Xenia.
Tho Pham and Mui Pham are the former owners of Wah Fu restaurant in Dayton, which closed in early November after 20 years of operation after the property was purchased by Miami Valley Hospital.
But the Pho Mi dinner menu and its lunch menu are much more extensive than the former Wah Fu’s and include several Vietnamese specialties such as the meal-sized soups and noodle dishes.
Phu Pham said his family was attracted to the Miami Twp. location because the area around the Dayton Mall and the entire Miami Twp.-Springboro region are booming.
Pho Mi Vietnamese Restaurant has a “10 percent off” offer through Jan. 31. It is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. For more information, check out the Pho Mi web site or call (937) 433-7388.
The North Village Chinese Restaurant will be located at 137 Jasper St. off of Brown Street, in a former nail salon that lies between Dewey’s Pizza and Penn Station restaurants. It has posted a “coming soon” sign but is in its early stages of renovation.
The restaurant will be owned by Henry Wang of Centerville, who has worked at other Chinese restaurants in the area for 10 years and said he wanted to open his own place. Wang said North Village could open as early as late January. Seating isn’t determined yet, but Wang said he hopes to seat at least 20. The restaurant will offer carry-out as well.
