‘Merlot’ banned in Utah, and all I want to know is: who was the anonymous tattletale?

Check out this Associated Press story as well as this Salt Lake Tribune story and answer me this: What would be an appropriate “people’s justice” for the anonymous caller who tattled on the license-plate owner?

Actually, C2H5OH is the conventional chemical notation for ethanol. Too bad you can’t have subscripts on license plates…

I suggest he change his plate to C2H6O (chemical formula for alcohol). Utah is not the only one. When I owned Fairfield Wine, I tried to get a “WEBWINOS” plate, the name of our corporation. It was OK for the Secretary of State’s office to be a business but not for the OH DMV to issue a tag.
